El género o films protagonizados por "Femme Fatales" son bastante atrayente y divertidos de ver; la imposición de la imagen femenina sobre un mundo dominado por hombres es un tema usado por muchas producciones que considero que son muy buenas y es que existen buenas películas como de terror, thrillers, comedias y películas de acción, las cuales son las que más disfruto de ver y justamente Netflix, en la última semana del pasado mes de marzo estreno dos películas donde mujeres deberán demostrar sus fuerzas y habilidades para el combate y así imponerse a letales enemigos; en esta oportunidad hago reseña de uno de esos films el cual une los géneros de acción, crimen y drama.
The genre or films starring "Femme Fatales" are quite attractive and fun to watch; the imposition of the female image on a world dominated by men is a theme used by many productions that I consider to be very good and there are good movies like horror, thrillers, comedies and action movies, which are the ones I most enjoy watching and just Netflix, in the last week of last March released two films where women must demonstrate their strengths and skills for combat and thus impose on lethal enemies; In this opportunity I review one of those films which unites the genres of action, crime and drama.
En "Kill Boksoon" veremos la historia de "Gil Bok-Soon", una madre soltera que se gana la vida siendo una fría y despedida asesina; ella pertenece a una organización criminal, la más importante en Corea del Sur y que recibe el nombre de M.K., dicha organización es comandada por "Cha Min-Kyu" quien de joven fue el mentor de Bok-Soon y por eso ella lidera a los asesinos que pertenecen a la lista A; está organización comanda a muchas otras por el uso de una tríada de reglas que dependiendo de las asignaciones, cada asesino podrá cobrar una buena cantidad de dinero y nadie gana más que Gil porque es la mejor y justamente eso, ser la mejor creara discrepancia con otros "compañeros de profesión" y posiblemente de su mentor quien puede ver cómo ella puede obtener beneficios de ambos mundos, pero uno de esos beneficios, el de ser madre podrá afectar su desempeño en su trabajo y eso abrirá las puertas para quienes envidien todo lo que ella representa creando tantos problemas que deberá hacer todo lo posible para mantenerse con vida.
In "Kill Boksoon" we will see the story of "Gil Bok-Soon", a single mother who earns her living as a cold and fired assassin; she belongs to a criminal organization, the most important in South Korea and that receives the name of M.K., this organization is commanded by "Cha Min-Kyu" who as a young man was Bok-Soon's mentor and that is why she leads the assassins who belong to the A-list; this organization commands many others by the use of a triad of rules that depending on the assignments, each assassin can charge a good amount of money and no one earns more than Gil because she is the best and just that, being the best will create discrepancy with other "fellow professionals" and possibly from her mentor who can see how she can get benefits from both worlds, but one of those benefits, being a mother may affect her performance in her work and that will open the doors for those who envy everything she represents creating so many problems that she must do everything possible to stay alive.
Recuerdo que en la promoción de esta nueva película original de Netflix la cual tuvo un estreno el pasado 31 de marzo; vino acompañada de buenas opiniones que principalmente hablaban muy bien del trabajo en dirección por parte de Byun Sung-hyun quien también cumple la función de escribir el guion de este film. Quiero hacer referencia a las escenas de acción en dónde usa diferentes maneras en mostrar a los protagonistas en las escenas de combate; primeramente me gustó el movimiento de cámara el cual hace que sigamos las buenas coreografías en las peleas; segundo, se nota la influencia de anime en varias de las peleas las cuales son muy dinámicas y divertidas, todas están muy bien logradas, en especial los duelos tanto el primero como el último. Este es el primer film que veo de este director y guionista y me pareció que en esta oportunidad hace un buen trabajo en los pocos escenarios donde se desarrolla la historia.
El guion me pareció excelente, me gusta que se tome muy en serio todo el asunto de la maternidad, ya que justamente este es un tema importante en esta película; la relación entre una madre y su hija es el detonante de muchas cosas, primeramente está relación dónde una mujer debe lidiar con su hija adolescente usa momentos que cada padre debe lidiar con sus hijos en esa etapa en donde que podrá ser difícil si no existe una verdadera comunicación entre ambos y es eso lo que afecta la vida criminal de la protagonista porque entiende y sabe que ser madre está por encima de todo aunque sabe que no será difícil dejar atrás el mundo que la convirtió en quien es. La historia sobre la paternidad es la verdadera base de esta historia que tiene como completo a un mundo criminal que se ha visto en otras producciones y que seguramente le resta originalidad, pero en mi opinión no le resta calidad a lo que es esta película.
I remember that in the promotion of this new Netflix original movie which had a premiere last March 31; it was accompanied by good opinions that mainly spoke very well of the work in direction by Byun Sung-hyun who also serves the function of writing the script of this film. I want to refer to the action scenes where he uses different ways to show the main characters in the combat scenes; firstly I liked the camera movement which makes us follow the good choreography in the fights; secondly, the anime influence is noticeable in several of the fights which are very dynamic and fun, all are very well done, especially the duels both the first and the last. This is the first film I've seen of this director and screenwriter and I found that this time he does a good job in the few scenarios where the story unfolds.
I thought the script was excellent, I like that it takes very seriously the whole issue of motherhood, as this is an important theme in this film; the relationship between a mother and her daughter is the trigger for many things, first of all this relationship where a woman must deal with her teenage daughter uses moments that every parent must deal with their children at that stage where it can be difficult if there is no real communication between the two and that is what affects the criminal life of the protagonist because she understands and knows that being a mother is above all although she knows that it will not be difficult to leave behind the world that made her who she is. The story about parenthood is the true basis of this story that has as a whole a criminal world that has been seen in other productions and that surely detracts from its originality, but in my opinion it does not detract from the quality of this film.
La actuación realizada por Jeon Do-yeon es bastante buena; la interpretación de "Gil Bok-Soon" es muy convincente en las fases que tiene este personaje; primeramente como una despiadada asesina es tan enfocada en su trabajo que sabe lo buena que es y eso hace que disfrute mucho; por supuesto es dominante y no pierde la oportunidad de hacerse ver cómo la número uno en la organización M.K.; la poca humildad de su personaje no es una debilidad, al contrario, es una motivación para no equivocarse; ahora en su otra fase y la que encuentro más importante es la de madre dónde parece ser todo lo contrario, no es dominante, es amorosa, preocupada y temerosa porque sabe que no tiene conexión con su hija, esa parte también me pareció importante para su actuación e historia. Otro gran personaje es el de "Cha Min-kyu" interpretado por Sol Kyung-gu; sí el personaje de Bok-Soon como asesina es despiadado, puedo decir que el de Min-kyu también lo es; es un hombre de negocios, un asesino que está por encima de todos; es fuerte, pero muestra vulnerabilidad porque le falta lo que otros tienen y sabe que eso nunca lo podrá vivir y por eso en un momento está dispuesto a arrebatar esa felicidad de otros; eso demuestra lo despiadado que puede ser aunque también demuestra la frustración que siente; es un gran personaje y antagonista de esta historia.
The acting done by Jeon Do-yeon is quite good; the interpretation of "Gil Bok-Soon" is very convincing in the phases that this character has; first as a ruthless assassin she is so focused on her job that she knows how good she is and that makes her enjoy it a lot; of course she is dominant and does not miss the opportunity to make herself look like the number one in the M. K.; the little humility of her character is not a weakness, on the contrary, it is a motivation not to make mistakes; now in her other phase and the one I find most important is that of mother where she seems to be the opposite, she is not dominant, she is loving, worried and fearful because she knows she has no connection with her daughter, that part also seemed to me important for her performance and story. Another great character is "Cha Min-kyu" played by Sol Kyung-gu; yes Bok-Soon's character as an assassin is ruthless, I can say that Min-kyu's character is also ruthless; he is a businessman, an assassin who is above everyone; he is strong, but he shows vulnerability because he lacks what others have and he knows that he can never live that and so at one point he is willing to snatch that happiness from others; that shows how ruthless he can be although he also shows the frustration he feels; he is a great character and antagonist of this story.
Disfrute mucho de Kill Boksoon a pesar de no tener muchas expectativas; me sorprendió mucho las escenas de acción y la historia aunque seré sincero al decir que tiene mucho parecido a "Kill Bill" y usa otras cosas vistas en "John Wick", pero aparte de eso, me pareció excelente el uso del drama entre la relación entre una madre e hija que pierden completamente una conexión en dónde el miedo de una madre que no puede ocultar quien en realidad es y el de su hija que también posee secretos y que piensa que no tendrá el apoyo de quien ama; creo que sin el uso de las escenas de acción y muertes tal vez sería un buen drama familiar y es por eso que al desarrollar una historia importante que es base para el funcionamiento de las escenas de acción, creo que hace que está sea una buena película. Quiero recordar que si desean ver un buen film asiático con buenas escenas de acción, crimen, drama y humor, tiene buen uso del humor, pueden ver este film en Netflix.
I really enjoyed Kill Boksoon even though I didn't have many expectations; I was very surprised by the action scenes and the story although I will be honest to say that it has a lot of similarities to "Kill Bill" and uses other things seen in "John Wick", but apart from that, I found excellent the use of drama between the relationship between a mother and daughter who completely lose a connection where the fear of a mother who can't hide who she really is and her daughter who also has secrets and thinks she won't have the support of the one she loves; I think that without the use of the action scenes and deaths maybe it would be a good family drama and that's why by developing an important story that is the basis for the action scenes to work, I think it makes this a good movie. I want to remind that if you want to see a good Asian film with good action scenes, crime, drama and humor, it has good use of humor, you can watch this film on Netflix.
