Es inevitable que debe llegar un momento de plantearse preguntas como ¿Qué tan evolucionada es la humanidad? ¿Qué tan dependiente es la humanidad? ¿Ambos temas van de la mano? ¿El avance tecnológico es el único sinónimo a la evolución? ¿Somos víctimas de la tecnología? Preguntas que podemos hacer al observar un film, leer un libro o al ver situaciones de la vida real que nos hacen ver lo vulnerable que somos como sociedad para después plantear la gran pregunta de todas ¿Por qué sucedió eso? Estas incógnitas y de como afectan a ciertas personas son en mi opinión el tema principal de esta nueva producción de Netflix.

Questions that we can ask when watching a film, reading a book or seeing real life situations that make us see how vulnerable we are as a society and then ask the biggest question of all: Why did this happen? These questions and how they affect certain people are in my opinion the main theme of this new Netflix production.
"Leave the World Behind", thriller apocalíptico que relata la historia de como dos familias por diferentes razones se reúnen en una casa vacacional en un lugar alejado de la ciudad, cuando empiezan a suceder extrañas situaciones como la irrupción de servicios como internet, TV y energía eléctrica; estos sucesos creara conflictos, preocupaciones y paranoia porque revelará lo limitado y dependiente de la sociedad lo cual puede crear víctimas y victimarios.

Esta película es dirigida y escrita por Sam Esmail quien alcanzó la fama al ser creador, director y escritor de la galardonada serie "Mr. Robot"; en esta nueva película de Netflix, Esmail estaba convencido en darle una perspectiva amplia al espectador, eso lo consigue con un el uso de drones en algunas escenas, pero hay otros en dónde o quería seguir a los personajes de una manera común, esto lo logra dando movilidad a la cámara lo cual genera una perspectiva diferente a algunas escenas, eso junto a otras en dónde pareciera que el film es proyectado en redes sociales que usan vídeos; me gustó mucho su manera de dirigir, es un director que sabe resaltar ciertas imágenes, con un buen uso de la luz y de los colores.
Este film es basado en una novela del mismo nombre, que salió a la venta en el 2020 y fue escrita por Rumaan Alam y por lo que he leído, Esmail hace algún que otro cambio para hacer un resumen en una producción de más de dos horas de duración; no hay duda que la idea principal es el de hacer una crítica a la sociedad que hace como prioridad una manera de pensar o lidiar con ciertas situaciones que extrañamente se han vuelto cotidianas, crítica la dependencia a la tecnología, a la información o desinformación, a un falso liderazgo, productos y demás, también hay una crítica generacional y es lo que más me ha gustado, es lo que considero que es lo que mejor desarrollado tiene la historia.

Uno de los puntos atrayentes de este film es el importante elenco, contar con actores como Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke y Mahershala Ali, es sin ninguna duda un plus; me gustó que cada uno tenga una participación importante, cada quien tiene un punto de vista que aporta mucho al relato, aunque si debo decir que tanto Roberts como Ali, tiene más protagonismo, entre ellos dos existe diferentes maneras de lidiar con dicha situación, primero es por la paranoia o por la incredulidad, pero cuando llega un momento en específico, cada pensamiento o cada creencia que tenga, se derrumba para reconocer una fuerte realidad. A pesar de señalar a los dos mejores actores del film, mi personaje favorito es Rose, Interpretado por Farrah Mackenzie, en ella está un punto de vista importante en la historia y que es relegado por su corta edad, pero en ella está la interpretación de la prioridad que tiene como nueva generación, una prioridad que le hace ser feliz entre tanta desdicha, creo que al final eso es lo que cada persona piensa, pero que al ser adulto, cambia de manera radical.

Despite pointing out the two best actors of the film, my favorite character is Rose, Played by Farrah Mackenzie, in her is an important point of view in the story and that is relegated by her young age, but in her is the interpretation of the priority that she has as a new generation, a priority that makes her happy among so much misfortune, I think in the end that is what every person thinks, but that as an adult, changes radically.
Me gustó Leave the World Behind, me gustó la manera de mostrar cómo influye lo que posiblemente sea el fin del mundo (o una parte) en personas que tienen cierta definición de como vivir justamente en ese mundo, personas que no son perfectas, pero por diferentes vivencias, creen que tiene el poder de crear un juicio de todo los que lo rodea, toda esa situación, todo ese relato humano es lo que me ha gustado del film lo cual no necesita de un villano o héroe definido, no necesita de la existencia de la lucha entre el bien y el mal, solo necesita explorar los puntos de vista de diferentes personas en una situación traumática; ahora no hay duda que también es una buena crítica a lo que somos como sociedad, de las limitaciones, de la dependencia y de la vulnerabilidad, en eso me ha parecido que es un buen relato, no terrorífico, pero si atrayente, correcto y para nada exagerado; posiblemente esta película se considere lenta, aburrida, pero creo que funciona muy bien como un relato, no de fantasía, ni tampoco de ser algo que sucederá el día de mañana, pero sí que funciona para crear ciertos debates y siempre creo que está es la función de este estilo de film y por eso creo que cada quien debería de verla.
I liked Leave the World Behind, I liked the way of showing how it influences what is possibly the end of the world (or a part of it) in people who have a certain definition of how to live just in that world, people who are not perfect, but for different experiences, they believe they have the power to create a judgment of everything that surrounds them, This whole situation, this whole human story is what I liked about the film, which does not need a defined villain or hero, it does not need the existence of the struggle between good and evil, it only needs to explore the points of view of different people in a traumatic situation; now there is no doubt that it is also a good criticism of what we are as a society, of the limitations, of the dependence and vulnerability, in that I thought it was a good story, not terrifying, but appealing, correct and not exaggerated at all; possibly this film is considered slow, boring, but I think it works very well as a story, not fantasy, nor something that will happen tomorrow, but it works to create certain debates and I always think this is the function of this style of film and that is why I think everyone should see it.
