Solamente he visto dos de las cuatro películas de "Shrek" y eso porque pienso que las dos primeras son las que verdaderamente valen la pena; ambas películas exploran de muy buena manera muchas historias de fantasía, llenas de acción y por supuesto humor; uno de los puntos positivos de ambos films son la gran cantidad de personajes que aparecen y que a la vez aportan a la historia volviéndose importante para quienes son fans de esta franquicia, siendo justamente uno de esos personajes es "El Gato con Botas" que a causa de su gran recibimiento por los fans obtuvo un spin-off que fue un éxito en taquilla, pero creo que al final fue víctima del pobre desempeño de los últimos dos films de Shrek y por eso se esperó hasta 11 años para por fin ver la secuela de este valiente héroe.

I have only seen two of the four "Shrek" movies and that's because I think the first two are the ones that are really worth it; both movies explore in a very good way many fantasy stories, full of action and of course humor; One of the positive points of both films is the great amount of characters that appear and at the same time contribute to the story becoming important for those who are fans of this franchise, being just one of those characters is "Puss in Boots" that because of its great reception by the fans got a spin-off that was a success at the box office, but I think in the end was a victim of the poor performance of the last two Shrek films and that's why it took 11 years to finally see the sequel of this brave hero.
Después de ver la segunda película de Shrek, pensé que fue tan buena, tan perfecta en muchos ámbitos que quede completamente satisfecho y no sentí que se pudiera hacer algo más y en eso está el realizar el obligado y esperado spin-off de El Gato con Botas y a pesar de que al final vi el primer film estrenado en el 2011, tenía tan completo desinterés que ni recuerdo la historia y tampoco tenía las ganas de volverla a ver, pero con el estreno de una nueva historia once años después decidí de verla porque el pasado año fue uno en dónde no vi muchos films animados y tal vez en estos próximos días me motive a realizar una reseña de esos films. En "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" veremos a este intrépido héroe seguir sus aventuras en un mundo lleno de fantasía; aunque cada aventura por lo más tonta o peligrosa que sea ha cobrado algo importante de él y es que cada en diferentes situaciones una vida ha perdido y por eso ha descubierto que de nueve vidas solamente le queda una y eso hará que aparezca un enemigo el cual le será difícil de derrotar, pero al una mágica posibilidad, una oportunidad estelar hará que el Gato con Botas deba comenzar una aventura junto a aliados y perseguido por varios enemigos para poder alcanzar un deseo y así seguir siendo el héroe, el justiciero, la leyenda.
After seeing the second Shrek movie, I think it was so good, so perfect in many areas that I was completely satisfied and I did not feel that something more could be done and in that is to make the obligatory and expected spin-off of Puss in Boots and although in the end I saw the first film released in 2011, I had such a complete lack of interest that I don't even remember the story and I didn't feel like watching it again, but with the release of a new story eleven years later I decided to watch it because last year was one in which I didn't see many animated films and maybe in the next few days I will be motivated to review those films. In "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish " we will see this intrepid hero continue his adventures in a world full of fantasy; although every adventure, no matter how silly or dangerous it may be, has taken something important from him and that is that in different situations he has lost a life and that is why he has discovered that out of nine lives he only has one left and that will make an enemy appear which will be difficult to defeat, but a magical possibility, a stellar opportunity will make Puss in Boots must begin an adventure with allies and pursued by several enemies in order to achieve a wish and thus remain the hero, the avenger, the legend.
Este film fue dirigido por Joel Crawford siendo su segundo trabajo como director en dos años, ya que en el 2020 se estrenó con el film "The Croods: A New Age"; en esta oportunidad es notorio de que los diseños tanto de exteriores como de personajes era muy diferente a lo visto en otras producciones de esta franquicia y en mi opinión es uno de elementos positivos de este film; el hacer que la cámara viaje junto a nuestros protagonistas en diferentes escenas de acción es algo que disfrute de ver y sé que existe mucha influencia tanto en animación como en dichas escenas con el film "Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse" (2018), pero es perfecta, es una producción muy bien realizada y divertida; en mi opinión es una gran decisión porque trae frescura y actualiza una historia para nuevas generaciones.
El guion fue escrito por Paul Fisher y Tommy Swerdlow; ambos escritores están muy ligados al género de la comedia y animación y en esta oportunidad en un principio con diálogos cómicos simples hacen una correcta comedia aunque habrá oportunidades en dónde creo que el chiste se pierde por malas decisiones; lo otro que puede considerarse algo forzado es la inclusión de personajes de otra famosa historia de fantasía como son "Ricitos de Oro" junto a Mamá y Papá Oso junto a Bebe Oso; en mi opinión es que seguramente serán parte de un posible Spin-off, pero creo que sí no hubieran incluido a esos personajes seguramente no hubiera ningún problema; ahora con respecto a la historia del personaje principal, me gustó que se narre cómo nadie puede vivir de la misma manera por siempre que debe haber o existir cambios aunque lo importante es mantener la esencia de cada quien, eso es lo más relevante que demostraron ambos guionistas.
This film was directed by Joel Crawford being his second work as a director in two years, since in 2020 he premiered with the film "The Croods: A New Age"; in this opportunity is notorious that the designs of both exteriors and characters was very different from what we have seen in other productions of this franchise and in my opinion is one of the positive elements of this film; making the camera travel along with our protagonists in different action scenes is something I enjoy watching and I know that there is a lot of influence both in animation and in such scenes with the film "Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse" (2018), but it is perfect, it is a very well done and fun production; in my opinion it is a great decision because it brings freshness and updates a story for new generations.
The script was written by Paul Fisher and Tommy Swerdlow; both writers are very linked to the genre of comedy and animation and in this opportunity at first with simple comic dialogues they make a correct comedy although there will be opportunities where I think the joke is lost by bad decisions; the other thing that can be considered somewhat forced is the inclusion of characters from another famous fantasy story such as "Goldilocks" along with Mama and Papa Bear along with Baby Bear; In my opinion, they will surely be part of a possible spin-off, but I think that if they had not included those characters, surely there would not be any problem; now with respect to the story of the main character, I liked the narration of how nobody can live in the same way forever, there must be or exist changes, although the important thing is to keep the essence of each one, that is the most relevant thing that both screenwriters demonstrated.
Anteriormente, hablé sobre la influencia de Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse en la animación tanto en los exteriores como en las escenas de acción; me gusta como el color intenso, la luz, lo dinámico y lo ágil haga resaltar a cada personaje, pero también veo que existe otra influencia más en el diseño de varios personajes y es que se nota de que Dreamworks Animation para el pasado 2022 tuvo un plan y es el de respetar el diseño de varios personajes y la animación y eso es evidente si comparamos a personajes de "The Bad Guys" con este film; ahora me parece genial que se mantenga el diseño tanto del "Gato con Botas" al que su voz se la dio Antonio Banderas y de "Kitty Softpaws" interpretada por Salma Hayek Pinault; ambos actores hacen un excelente trabajo, ambos personajes son muy buenos, divertidos, valientes, muy parecidos y eso los hace mejor; su interacción con "Perrito" crea muy buenas escenas y hacen aún más entretenida la historia. Me hubiera gustado disfrutar el trabajo de Florence Pugh interpretando a "Goldilocks", pero el film lo vi con audio latino, así que tal vez en una futura oportunidad vuelva a ver esta película, pero con audio inglés.
Previously, I talked about the influence of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in the animation both in the exteriors and in the action scenes; I like how the intense color, the light, the dynamic and agile makes each character stand out, but I also see that there is another influence in the design of several characters and it is noticeable that Dreamworks Animation for the past 2022 had a plan and that is to respect the design of several characters and animation and that is evident if we compare characters from "The Bad Guys" with this film; now I think it's great to keep the design of both "Puss in Boots" whose voice was given by Antonio Banderas and "Kitty Softpaws" played by Salma Hayek Pinault; both actors do an excellent job, both characters are very good, funny, brave, very similar and that makes them better; their interaction with "Perrito" creates very good scenes and makes the story even more entertaining. I would have liked to enjoy the work of Florence Pugh playing "Goldilocks", but I saw the film with Latin audio, so maybe in a future opportunity I will see this movie again, but with English audio.
A pesar de que sinceramente no me gustó el primer film y que me canse de ver películas de Shrek, quise ver Puss in Boots: The Last Wish porque había leído que el film era bueno y sí que lo es; me divertí en su menos de dos horas de duración y eso es por qué es una historia dinámica, divertida y así como pasa con la mayoría de las producciones animadas, son tanto para el público adulto como el infantil; ahora ¿Está película cayó bien entre los fans de la franquicia de Shrek? Creo que sí, porque a pesar de que hay claros cambios en la animación, creo que respeta muchas cosas más, por ejemplo el respeto que mantener la esencia del personaje y de crear a nuevos que pueden ser importante para el futuro, porque posiblemente pronto volveremos a ver este gran héroe y sus amigos. Recomiendo este film, es excelente, es divertido, rápido, buena historia, buenos villanos, buenas escenas de acción, buenas canciones y con esto puedo decir que es un éxito total.
Although I honestly did not like the first film and I got tired of watching Shrek movies, I wanted to see Puss in Boots: The Last Wish because I had read that the film was good and yes it is; I had fun in its less than two hours of duration and that's because it is a dynamic, fun story and as with most animated productions, are for both adult and child audiences; now is this film fell well among fans of the Shrek franchise? I think so, because although there are clear changes in the animation, I think it respects many things, for example the respect to keep the essence of the character and create new ones that may be important for the future, because possibly soon we will see again this great hero and his friends. I recommend this film, it is excellent, it is fun, fast, good story, good villains, good action scenes, good songs and with this I can say that it is a total success.
