Por mucho tiempo he visto películas con las cuales sus historias por mucho que sean ficticias puede hacer que sienta de que he vivido (de una manera u otra) las situaciones que suceden esas producciones y por supuesto que eso es importante en un film porque de esa conexión podemos decir que ese trabajo es inolvidable; ese sentimiento, esa noción la he experimentado en películas de diferentes géneros en dónde predomina el terror, drama, comedia y con respecto a películas de acción solo me queda decir "Ése soy yo", pero lo que quiero decir es que la conexión entre un film y quién ve ese film (en mi opinión) dependerá de qué similitudes encuentra entre la ficción y sus vivencias; justamente eso me sucedió con la película que reseño en esta publicación.

For a long time I have seen movies with which their stories, even if they are fictional, can make me feel that I have lived (in one way or another) the situations that happen in those productions and of course that is important in a film because from that connection we can say that this work is unforgettable; I have experienced that feeling, that notion in films of different genres where horror, drama, comedy predominate and with respect to action films I can only say "That's me", but what I mean is that the connection between a film and who watches that film (in my opinion) will depend on what similarities they find between fiction and their experiences; just that happened to me with the film that I review in this publication.
La amistad es un tema recurrente en el cine, es un tema fácil y a la vez profundo de desarrollar dependiendo la historia que se quiera relatar; si quiero referirme a una historia sobre cómo una amistad puede pasar de la grandeza a la tragedia esa es la que podemos en los episodios I, II, III y IV de "Star Wars"; creo que es un claro ejemplo de cómo dos amigos con sus muchas diferencias pueden tener algo que los haga tener diferencias que rompan esa unión y se crea una enemistad imposible de borrar; justamente y respetando las diferencias entre ambas producciones, eso ocurre en "The Banshees of Inisherin"" que nos muestra a la isla de Inisherin la cual queda en la costa oeste de Irlanda en 1923, en esa isla uno de sus habitantes, "Pádraic Súilleabháin" en un día normal descubre que su gran y mejor amigo "Colm Doherty" ya no quiere más de su amistad; esa sorpresiva decisión parece que crea un efecto domino en la vida de Pádraic la cual se va afectando cada vez más convirtiendo absolutamente todo en algo irracional, difícil de entender, de lidiar causando hechos que difícilmente se puedan borrar.
Friendship is a recurring theme in cinema, it is an easy and at the same time deep theme to develop depending on the story you want to tell; if I want to refer to a story about how a friendship can go from greatness to tragedy that is what we can in episodes I, II, III and IV of "Star Wars"; I think it is a clear example of how two friends with their many differences can have something that makes them have differences that break that union and creates an enmity impossible to erase; justly and respecting the differences between both productions, that happens in "The Banshees of Inisherin"" which shows us the island of Inisherin which is on the west coast of Ireland in 1923, on that island one of its inhabitants, "Pádraic Súilleabháin" in a normal day discovers that his great and best friend "Colm Doherty" no longer wants more of his friendship; This surprising decision seems to create a domino effect in Pádraic's life, which is affected more and more, turning absolutely everything into something irrational, difficult to understand, difficult to deal with, causing events that can hardly be erased.
Para esta publicación esperaba reseñar otro film, pero al ver cómo The Banshees of Inisherin ganó el Golden Globe como Mejor película - Musical o Comedia, me decidí a ver este film, el cual tenía poco conocimiento sobre su historia y de quién la dirigió, pero al saber que Martin McDonagh fue el encargado de dichas funciones supe de qué está sería una gran producción. El trabajo realizado por McDonagh detrás de la cámara es impresionante; no existe ninguna toma que no sea bien pensada y que demuestre la calma y monótono de la isla (ficticia) de Inisherin y es que para mí ese lugar es un importante protagonista, un lugar alejado de cualquier problema, tal vez hasta detenido en el tiempo y eso lo demuestra este gran director en cada toma; la fotografía es excelente, especial y creo que en cualquier fragmento que se tome en alguna escena puede servir como una obra de arte.
El guion es sumamente especial, la historia de la ruptura de una amistad sirve como base para explorar muchas otras cosas como por ejemplo la soledad, la depresión, la monotonía, la bondad y por supuesto la locura; me gustó el relato de cómo la ruptura de la monotonía pueda hacer ver cómo una vida simple se transforma en una triste y eso convierte a este film que comienza de una manera divertida en una tragedia y es que siempre la ruptura de una gran amistad debe ser considerada de esa manera y justamente eso es lo que me hizo conectar con este film, ya que parece que es imposible de mantener muchas amistades que de manera inexplicable se pierden y que algunas veces por ciertas razones son difíciles de recuperar.
For this post I was expecting to review another film, but seeing how The Banshees of Inisherin won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, I decided to see this film, which I had little knowledge about its story and who directed it, but knowing that Martin McDonagh was in charge of such duties I knew this would be a great production. The work done by McDonagh behind the camera is impressive; there is no shot that is not well thought out and that shows the calm and monotonous of the (fictional) island of Inisherin and for me that place is an important protagonist, a place away from any problem, perhaps even stopped in time and that is shown by this great director in every shot; the photography is excellent, special and I think that in any fragment taken in any scene can serve as a work of art.
The script is very special, the story of the breakup of a friendship serves as a basis to explore many other things such as loneliness, depression, monotony, kindness and of course madness; I liked the story of how the rupture of monotony can make you see how a simple life becomes a sad one and that turns this film that begins in a funny way into a tragedy and it is that always the rupture of a great friendship should be considered in that way and that is exactly what made me connect with this film, as it seems that it is impossible to maintain many friendships that inexplicably are lost and sometimes for certain reasons are difficult to recover.
Las actuaciones tanto de Colin Farrell como de Brendan Gleeson como protagonistas de esta historia es excelente; aunque aprecié más el trabajo de Farrell en su interpretación de "Pádraic Súilleabháin"; posiblemente sea la persona más bondadosa en la isla donde vive y que lamentablemente eso no le haga ganarse el respeto de las personas y mucho menos de sus amigos, pero eso no evita de que le guste su vida en esa gran, hermosa y sí, aburrida zona de confort y lo cual es lo que critique más de este personaje, la actuación de este actor el cual tuvo un 2022 muy activo en el cine, recibe con este último trabajo un reconocimiento del cual parece que tardó en llegar, pero pienso que está en un momento justo en su carrera y creo que si sigue siendo premiado por esta actuación, posiblemente se convierta en un modelo a seguir en Hollywood; sobre Gleeson, su personaje es sumamente interesante, aunque también es egoísta; yo creo que es alguien solitario que disfruta justamente eso la soledad, pero también disfruta la admiración de otros hasta que llega un momento y dice basta porque no le alimenta aún más el ego; me gustó el trabajo de este actor porque tiene la presencia y la actitud para representar a este personaje, no es cruel aunque parezca, pero tampoco es el mejor amigo del mundo. Existen otros dos actores que también influyen en esta película y ellos son Barry Keoghan como "Dominic" que puedo definirlo como "El Tonto del Pueblo" un joven hombre poco beneficiado con un aceptado comportamiento e inteligencia y eso es debido al abuso que recibe de su padre el cual es en mi opinión un necesario villano en el film; el trabajo de este actor es adecuado, me gusta su interpretación porque refleja lo que brevemente definí de su personaje; el otro personaje que me sorprendió y mi favorito del film es "Siobhán Súilleabháin" interpretado por Kerry Condon; no hay duda de que su personaje resalta mucho y no por el hecho de ser mujer porque no es el único personaje femenino, sino porque claramente es diferente a todo quien reside en esa isla y eso la hace mejor, es divertida, fuerte, amorosa e inteligente, muy inteligente; el trabajo de esta actriz es excelente.
The performances of both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as the protagonists of this story is excellent; although I appreciated more the work of Farrell in his interpretation of "Pádraic Súilleabháin"; he is possibly the kindest person on the island where he lives and unfortunately that does not earn him the respect of the people and much less of his friends, but that does not prevent him from liking his life in that big, beautiful and yes, boring comfort zone and that is what I criticize the most of this character, the performance of this actor who had a very active 2022 in film, receives with this latest work a recognition of which seems to have been a long time coming, but I think he is at the right time in his career and I think if he continues to be awarded for this performance, he will possibly become a role model in Hollywood; about Gleeson, his character is extremely interesting, although he is also selfish; I think he is someone lonely who enjoys just that loneliness, but also enjoys the admiration of others until a moment comes and he says enough is enough because it doesn't feed his ego even more; I liked the work of this actor because he has the presence and attitude to represent this character, he is not cruel although it seems, but he is not the best friend in the world either. There are two other actors that also influence this film and they are Barry Keoghan as "Dominic" which I can define him as "The Village Dumbass" a young man little benefited with an accepted behavior and intelligence and that is due to the abuse he receives from his father which is in my opinion a necessary villain in the film; the work of this actor is adequate, I like his interpretation because he reflects what I briefly defined of his character; the other character that surprised me and my favorite of the film is "Siobhán Súilleabháin" played by Kerry Condon; there is no doubt that her character stands out a lot and not because she is a woman because she is not the only female character, but because she is clearly different from everyone who resides on that island and that makes her better, she is funny, strong, loving and intelligent, very intelligent; the work of this actress is excellent.
Soy una persona que aprecia la amistad, tengo suerte de contar con buenos amigos, pero al ver Banshees of Inisherin me hizo recordar a amistades que he perdido y no encuentro la razón del porqué sucedió eso y justamente me hizo entender el poder de la historia de este film el cual demuestra o pone a prueba el poder de una amistad sea verdadera o no, de cómo la soledad nos hace víctima de pensamientos errados a pesar de que hay momentos en dónde la respuesta a muchas cosas es alejarse de todo, enfocarse en cada uno y cuando se esté preparado regresar a lo cotidiano, ahora creo que cada quien puede o no anunciar cuando y como debe hacerlo usando las palabras adecuadas sea desde un sentimiento verdadero o no porque a pesar de que sea poco considerado, creo que los temas cómo la bondad y ser cortés es algo que se trata este film así como el hecho de juzgar las vidas de los demás para hacer ver que la de otros es mejor, en esto es perfecto y eso me hizo a disfrutar mucho está producción la cual recomiendo a ver; son dos horas de excelentes tomas, muy buena dirección, buenos personajes, brutales actuaciones, en especial de Colin Farrell que (sin ver otros films) es un claro favorito a los muchos premios del cine; así que con todo eso dense un tiempo y disfruten de esta gran historia.
I am a person who appreciates friendship, I am lucky to have good friends, but watching Banshees of Inisherin made me remember friendships I have lost and I do not find the reason why that happened and just made me understand the power of the story of this film which demonstrates or tests the power of a friendship whether true or not, how loneliness makes us victims of wrong thoughts even though there are times where the answer to many things is to get away from everything, focus on each other and when you are ready to return to the everyday, now I think that everyone can or can not announce when and how to do it using the right words whether from a true feeling or not because although it is not very considerate, I think that the issues how kindness and being polite is something that this film is about as well as the fact of judging the lives of others to make others see that theirs is better, in this is perfect and that made me enjoy a lot this production which I recommend to see; it's two hours of excellent shots, very good direction, good characters, brutal performances, especially from Colin Farrell**_ who (without seeing other films) is a clear favorite for many film awards; so with all that give yourselves some time and enjoy this great story.
