Historias del viejo oeste siempre estarán basadas en la ley del más fuerte prevalece, hombres y mujeres deberán convertirse en lo que les quitó todo para poder hacer frente a una dura vida en un lugar donde la ley no es el verdadero orden, pero también hay historia de redención y de cómo un hombre debe vivir con todo el mal que ha hecho; siempre me ha gustado este tipo de historias, porque siempre hay alguien que quiere comenzar una nueva vida y siempre hay algo que lo arrastra nuevamente a lo que era, personas atormentadas que creen que no pueden seguir adelante si no cierran el pasado que les quitó todo, esta es la base para muchos westerns en dónde como siempre si se hacen bien, seguramente podemos tener una gran película.

Stories of the old west will always be based on the law of the strongest prevails, men and women must become what took everything from them in order to cope with a hard life in a place where the law is not the true order, but there is also story of redemption and how a man must live with all the evil he has done; I have always liked this kind of stories, because there is always someone who wants to start a new life and there is always something that drags him back to what he was, tormented people who believe they can not move forward if they do not close the past that took everything from them, this is the basis for many westerns where as always if they are done well, surely we can have a great movie.
En "The Harder They Fall" veremos cómo violencia genera violencia, una historia de resentimiento y de cómo la rabia se convierte un motivo de vida, esto es lo que le sucede a "Nat Love" que de niño tuvo que como el forajido "Rufus Buck" asesinaba a sus padres haciéndole una marca de por vida; Nat creció con odio y resentimiento buscando a quienes le hicieron daño y mientras transcurría ese camino de violencia no evito convertirse en un criminal, pero cuando piensa que todo ha acabado, su peor enemigo regresa y eso hará que Love no descanse hasta ver sin vida a quien le quitó todo.
In "The Harder They Fall" we will see how violence generates violence, a story of resentment and how rage becomes a motive for life, this is what happens to "Nat Love" who as a child had to see how the outlaw "Rufus Buck" killed his parents, leaving a mark for life; Nat grew up with hatred and resentment looking for those who hurt him and while this path of violence was going on he did not avoid becoming a criminal, but when he thinks that everything is over, his worst enemy returns and that will make Love not rest until he sees without life the one who took everything from him.
Es extraño para mí hablar de una producción de Netflix, protagonizada por buenos y famosos actores y decir que no tenía ningún conocimiento de esta película, siempre trato de evitar ver trailers, teaser, cualquier imagen y hasta sinopsis para poder disfrutar por completo de una historia, más que nada hago esto para no crearme grandes expectativas y disfrutar de mejor forma de una historia, en esta oportunidad, el evitar saber mucho de este film fue lo adecuado. Me gusta mucho ver Werterns, clásicos y alguno que otra nueva historia, nunca trato de comparar aunque siempre encuentro algún parecido entre películas y más que nada trato de encontrar cosas que las hace diferentes y me hagan disfrutar aún más estás historias; en este film con una fuerte influencia afroamericana, el director Jeymes Samuel quien hace su debut en un proyecto de larga duración, toma influencia en varias escenas de acción de lo que hizo Tarantino en "Django Unchained", también tiene momentos en dónde hace homenaje a los Spaghetti Westerns con alguna que otras tomas como por ejemplo primero tener una toma lejana e inmediatamente hacer close up en algunos de los principales personajes, también se da el tiempo de mostrar su experiencia en los shorts films o largos videos musicales que ha realizado en algunas escenas musicales que se aprecia en este film y también en muchas escenas de acción con el uso apropiado del slow motion, pienso que hizo un buen trabajo junto a la fotografía que me pareció excelente.
La historia que se relata en esta película es lo que más me gustó, al comienzo del film existe el anuncio de que a pesar de que es una historia ficticia, los personajes existieron, cada personaje que aparece es esta película fue real, forajidos y a la vez personajes importantes para la comunidad afroamericana, pero hay algo que me quiero enfocar mucho más con respecto a la frase de que estos personajes son reales, primero que nada el guion escrito por Samuel y Boaz Yakin trata sobre lo que genera la violencia, de cómo ciega a una persona y la convierte en algo que será difícil de borrar, está historia está llena de personas que toman decisiones difíciles y que deben lidiar con lo que son, esto me parece genial, pero también habla de cómo se usa la violencia para justificar cualquier acto que cometen, cada personaje está envuelto de eso, un paso violento que lo lleva a quienes son, que representan y que les gusta lo que se han transformado, pienso que personajes como esos siempre se han visto y lamentablemente seguirán existiendo aún más cuando la violencia sea parte de la sociedad.
It is strange for me to talk about a Netflix production, starring good and famous actors and say that I had no knowledge of this movie, I always try to avoid watching trailers, teaser, any image and even synopsis in order to fully enjoy a story, more than anything I do this to not create great expectations and enjoy a story in a better way, in this opportunity, avoiding to know much about this film was the right thing to do. I really enjoy watching Werterns, classics and some new stories, I never try to compare although I always find some resemblance between films and more than anything I try to find things that make them different and make me enjoy these stories even more; in this film with a strong African American influence, director Jeymes Samuel who makes his debut in a feature length project, takes influence in several action scenes from what Tarantino did in "Django Unchained", he also has moments where he pays homage to the Spaghetti Westerns with some shots like first having a long shot and immediately doing a close up on some of the main characters, He also takes the time to show his experience in the shorts films or long music videos that he has done in some musical scenes that can be seen in this film and also in many action scenes with the appropriate use of slow motion, I think he did a good job along with the photography that I thought was excellent.
The story that is told in this film is what I liked the most, at the beginning of the film there is the announcement that even though it is a fictional story, the characters existed, every character that appears is this film was real, outlaws and at the same time important characters for the African American community, but there is something that I want to focus much more with respect to the phrase that these characters are real, first of all the script written by Samuel and Boaz Yakin is about what generates violence, of how it blinds a person and turns them into something that will be hard to erase, this story is full of people who make difficult decisions and have to deal with who they are, this I think is great, but it also talks about how violence is used to justify any act they commit, each character is wrapped in that, a violent step that leads them to who they are, who they represent and who they like what they have become, I think characters like that have always been seen and unfortunately will continue to exist even more when violence is part of society.
El cast de esta película es sorprendente, contar con Regina King e Idris Elba es un plus, ellos dos son los dueños de dos escenas importantes para sus personajes y las que más me gustaron de todo el film y a este le sumo la gran química que hay entre estos dos grandes actores; de los demás protagonista no es una sorpresa ver las actuaciones de Lakeith Stanfield y Jonathan Majors, el primero interpreta al que considero mi personaje favorito del film, "Cherokee Bill" alguien sin escrúpulos, calmado, letal, sin titubear para resolver cualquier situación, su actuación fue adecuada al personificar a esa "mano derecha" sin ser loco, ni hablador, me gustó que su trabajo fuera de esa forma, de Majors, pienso que lo mejor fue al final del film en dónde demuestra que es buen actor, seguramente al compartir escena con buenos actores como King y Elba lo hace mostrar lo mejor de él y es algo que se notó en el acto final del film; sobre los demás personajes y los actores que los interpretan, solo puedo decir que fueron adecuados para esta historia, tienen un rol a cumplir y más nada, tal vez sea un punto negativo de la historia.
The cast of this film is amazing, having Regina King and Idris Elba is a plus, they are the owners of two important scenes for their characters and the ones I liked the most of the whole film and to this I add the great chemistry between these two great actors; of the other protagonists is not a surprise to see the performances of Lakeith Stanfield and Jonathan Majors, the first one plays what I consider my favorite character of the film, "Cherokee Bill" someone without scruples, calm, lethal, without hesitation to solve any situation, his performance was adequate to personify that "right hand" without being crazy, I liked his work that way, I think the best part of Majors was at the end of the film where he shows that he is a good actor, surely sharing the scene with good actors like King and Elba makes him show the best of him and it is something that was noticed in the final act of the film; About the other characters and the actors who play them, I can only say that they were adequate for this story, they have a role to fulfill and nothing else, maybe it is a negative point of the story.
A pesar de que The Harder They Fall no es perfecta, no es para nada un mal film, me gustó la mayoría de sus personajes, la historia que para mí es lo mejor del film, la fotografía y la música, es muy buena producción que seguramente con más presupuesto sería mucho mejor, pienso que con un director con más experiencia en escenas de acción se tuviera una película mejor de lo que es, dando importancia a la escena de los duelos, lo cual es algo que admiro mucho en este género del cine, pero sé que este nuevo director podrá mejorar mucho más y quién sabe si en el futuro podamos ver su evolución en otro film dentro del género del western. Sin ninguna duda disfrute mucho de esta película, existen otros westerns a ver, la semana que viene seguramente tendré la oportunidad de ver y espero que sean buenas o hasta mejores que este film a pesar de que son diferentes historias basadas en una misma época; por los momentos recomiendo esta historia del viejo oeste, bien producida, con buenos actores y gran historia.
Although The Harder They Fall is not perfect, it is not a bad film at all, I liked most of its characters, the story that for me is the best of the film, the photography and the music, it is a very good production that surely with more budget would be much better, I think that with a director with more experience in action scenes would have a better film than it is, giving importance to the duel scene, which is something that I admire a lot in this genre of cinema, but I know that this new director can improve much more and who knows if in the future we can see his evolution in another film in the western genre. There are other westerns to see, next week I will surely have the opportunity to see them and I hope they will be good or even better than this film even though they are different stories based on the same era; for the moment I recommend this story of the old west, well produced, with good actors and great story.
