The Hater

"We must always know who we're letting into our lives..."

Hi Hivers, a few days ago I had read about the release of this film, friends had told me that I should see it because of how good it is, this made me see the trailer without any expectation for what I had read or had been told and my first impression was that this would be like many films where the protagonist no longer knows what is good or evil and in the end suffers a mental breakdown that leads him to commit a violent act, that was what most kept me from seeing this film, but yesterday I decided to give it a chance and I must say that I liked what I saw.

THE HATER - OFFICIAL TRAILER

"The Hater" is the film with a not very original story, based on many films that use this type of characters that seek to gain the trust of a wealthy family in order to belong to that social status and will do everything possible to achieve their goal, now the issue is how they achieve that goal and this is where this film does an excellent job because to make this film is seen as a society has become dependent on technology and that is what is trendy and this is where I ask what links both things? And the answer is "Social Media", it is the excessive use of social media that has made us dependent on everything, news, fashion, music, food, that is why there are people with the power to make each of us want something without a real need, it only influences us to follow a trend.

In this film we can see something that is very common in "Twitter", "Facebook" or "Instagram", every day we can see how there are so many opinions about anything, many people have become experts in different subjects having or not a real knowledge of what they talk about, They only invent a story and make it repeat itself so many times that it becomes a mass opinion, this is something that has taken so much strength that many times people who are attacked renounce the use of social networks and all this is what this film is mostly about, the power of repeated opinion, a certain opinion or not, creating a force that is difficult to counteract.

I really liked the work of the director Jan Komasa, I am surprised that he has many works that have been very well received by the critics and has participated in many festivals, each take is the nightlife of a city or in the tranquility of a house while it is a family dinner are excellent, but I think my two favorite takes are both the beginning and the end explaining what this society lives today. The performances are very good especially of its protagonist Maciej Musiałowski who plays "Tomasz Giemza ", a young man who dreams of being someone of the "elite" and will do whatever is necessary to achieve it, especially using lies that try to deceive or not to the people around him, is an excellent work because I always think that these characters have a mental break very at the end of these stories in contrast this character from the beginning his mind is totally broken.

Although at times I found similarities in this film with "JOKER " (2019), so it is the main characters who tell their stories and I always thought that you should not trust the narrative of a mentally ill person, that's why many things we see can be considered fantasy, but as I also think, it is very difficult to know someone truly and with the existence of social networks now I think we must be much more vigilant about who we invite to see our lives from a computer or a phone. This film is very true and that makes it frightening because of the existence of influencers and the many people who depend on someone to tell them what to love, hate and consume and although this sounds alarmist, I think that even any of us can be victims of people who have found in social networks a tool to express their resentment that they have oppressed for a long time and make others hate them as they do. I recommend this film because it is very current, good direction and good performance of its protagonist, issues of hate and its use to affect the lives of weak-minded people, it is a great story and at the same time terrifying.
