Es notorio que el mundo de los videojuegos es atrayente para el mundo del cine, en los ochenta hubo producciones que se basaron en videojuegos y a pesar de no ser grandes éxitos, al pasar el tiempo se convirtieron en películas de culto, pero sé que el plan era generar un éxito inmediato en vez de esperar a que el tiempo pasara y por seguramente decidieron realizar un film basado en uno de los videojuegos más famosos de todo el mundo y por eso en 1993 se estrenó "Super Mario Bros.", el film que obtuvo una inesperada notoriedad y esa fue causada por lo mal película que es; yo la vi y puedo decir que es la película más decepcionante y que lamentable dio paso a qué muchos, pero muchos films basados en videojuegos, también fueron malas producciones con una característica principal la cual fue alejarse del material del cual están basados.

Está es otra de esas películas que no pensaba ver y eso es porque no soy muy fan del videojuego, pero hubo factores o características que me motivaron al ver esta película, la principal tiene que ver con la crítica negativa que recibió por parte de la prensa especializada, justamente eso creó un debate en redes sociales en dónde se puso en duda la opinión de críticos y se valoró la opinión del público en general; personalmente y sin antes ver el film, tome parte en no apoyar algunas críticas las cuales hicieron referencia a lo vacío del relato y pensaba que eran muy exigentes con un film animado basado en un videojuego; después de ver la película, pensaba en diferentes cosas que me gustaron y primeramente debo señalar lo fiel que es en varias partes al juego, el diseño del mundo en dónde se desarrolla la historia es algo muy bien planeado y no solo me refiero a "the Mushroom Kingdom" o "the Dark Lands", sino también a "Brooklyn, NY", cada uno de estos lugares tiene muy buenos detalles, pero en mi opinión el mejor es cuando se hace un homenaje al jugador, me refiero al jugador experto y al principiante; me sentí identificado con ambos tipos de jugadores, es un buen detalle por todas las personas involucradas en dirección y guion.
Lo dicho en el párrafo anterior es lo que encontré positivo del film, lo cual como dije, me alegra que sea muy notorio, pero lamentablemente está película está lejos de ser perfecta y eso es debido a la historia la cual es tal como indicaban varias críticas al momento de su estreno; posiblemente este debe ser uno de los guiones más vacíos que he visto; la historia no es para nada buena y parece que se necesitaba algo que funcionará como excusa para la realización del film; aunque me parece excelente el tema en dónde "Bowser" pretenda casarse con "Princess Peach", creo que se pudo hacer algo mejor, no necesariamente algo profundo, pero si mejor, una historia divertida, cómica y justamente eso último le hace falta al film; lo otro es que no se explora mejor el tema de la hermandad entre Mario y Luigi, creo que de ahí se pudo hacer mejor está historia y que su predecible final pudiera ser mejor.
This is another of those movies that I did not plan to see and that's because I'm not a big fan of the video game, but there were factors or characteristics that motivated me to see this movie, the main one has to do with the negative criticism it received from the specialized press, just that created a debate on social networks where the opinion of critics was questioned and the opinion of the general public was valued; personally and without seeing the film, I took part in not supporting some reviews which referred to the emptiness of the story and I thought they were very demanding with an animated film based on a video game; after watching the movie, I thought about different things that I liked and first of all I must point out how faithful it is in several parts to the game, the design of the world where the story takes place is something very well planned and I'm not only referring to "the Mushroom Kingdom" or "the Dark Lands", but also to "Brooklyn, NY", each of these places has very good details, but in my opinion the best is when a tribute is made to the player, I mean the expert player and the beginner; I felt identified with both types of players, it is a good detail by all the people involved in direction and script.
What I said in the previous paragraph is what I found positive about the film, which as I said, I am glad it is very noticeable, but unfortunately this film is far from perfect and that is due to the story which is just as several reviews indicated at the time of its release; possibly this must be one of the emptiest scripts I have seen; the story is not good at all and it seems that something was needed that will work as an excuse for the realization of the film; although I find excellent the theme where "Bowser" pretends to marry "Princess Peach", I think that something better could have been done, not necessarily something deep, but better, a funny, comical story and just the latter is what the film lacks; the other thing is that the theme of the brotherhood between Mario and Luigi is not better explored, I think that this story could have been better and that its predictable ending could have been better.
La animación es un gran punto positivo del film y estoy completamente seguro que no existe no ninguna queja de nadie en el estilo de los personajes porque es fiel a su diseño original; disfrute mucho ver las diferentes versiones de los obstáculos que se aprecia en el videojuego y justamente esas son las escenas que más disfrute de ver. Existe un factor importante en esta producción y es que este film funciona como un buen para futuras producciones basadas en videojuego, las cuales no debe ser obligatorio realizarlas en acción-real y más cuando son historias en dónde existe mucha fantasía. Aprovechando el estreno en el formato de VOD, decidí ver este film en su audio original y me gustó que en la voz tanto de "Mario", interpretado por Chris Pratt, como la de "Luigi", quien lo interpreta Charlie Day, no se hiciera tanta referencia al acento italiano, sino hacerlo más natural aunque no puede faltar los gestos y diferentes celebraciones que son características clásicas de ambos personajes; la voz de Anya Taylor-Joy como "Princess Peach" es excelente, me gustó que no tuviera un tono agudo, sino uno bastante adulto, fuerte y a la vez calmado, creo que fue una gran decisión darle ese estilo de voz para alguien que es un líder y para finalizar, está Jack Black que dio su voz a "Bowser", es perfecto, es divertido y me gustaría que tuviera más escenas como villano, pero posiblemente sea el mejor personaje del film.

Taking advantage of the premiere in the VOD format, I decided to watch this film in its original audio and I liked that the voice of both "Mario", played by Chris Pratt, and "Luigi", played by Charlie Day, did not make so much reference to the Italian accent, but to make it more natural, although the gestures and different celebrations that are classic characteristics of both characters cannot be missing; the voice of Anya Taylor-Joy as "Princess Peach" is excellent, I liked that she did not have a high pitched tone, but a quite adult one, strong and at the same time calm, I think it was a great decision to give her that style of voice for someone who is a leader and to finish, there is Jack Black who gave his voice to "Bowser", he is perfect, he is funny and I wish he had more scenes as a villain, but he is possibly the best character of the film.
Siendo sincero, está no es la mejor película animada, ni la mejor película basada en un videojuego, pero si puedo decir que es la película basada en videojuegos más beneficiada por la marca que representa; no hay duda que esta versión del personaje, el diseño, la voz, el mundo donde se desarrolla la historia, las excelentes referencias al juego, en especial la música que es de lo mejor; creo que influye en las personas que todavía se sienten atraídas a ir a una sala de cine para ver lo que seguramente es el primer film de esta gran franquicia que es The Super Mario Bros., pero eso no evita de que sea un film con muchas falencias y que espero que en futuras secuelas pueda mejorar tanto en historia como el renglón de comedia porque eso sí, el film no es cómico y aunque celebre que no existe los chistes forzados como en otras producciones, debo decir que en gran porcentaje del film, no existe la buena comedia y es por eso que considero este film como uno regular, por supuesto, con un gran potencial que se nota con la gran cantidad de dinero recaudado en la taquilla, pero con una historia no tan buena, aunque tampoco es tan mala como el film de 1993; habrá que esperar que cambios deciden para un futuro film, que temas deciden desarrollar, que aventuras deberán enfrentar estos personajes porque con todo lo recaudado, es seguro que las expectativas serán mucho mayor en las futuras producciones.
