Netflix sigue apostando fuerte en este universo sobre **"The Witcher"**, justamente este año después de un fuerte retraso tanto por el Covid-19 y como diferentes situaciones ocurridas en la grabación de la nueva temporada, la compañía de streaming decidió que este 2021 se volviera a enfocar en todo el mundo lleno de monstruos, magia, villanos y héroes, alargar aún más todo esté universo el cual comenzó con libros y vídeo juegos, a todo esto se unió la series estrenada en el 2019 y que justamente en diciembre de este año por fin se podrá ver su esperada segunda temporada, pero este no es el único proyecto el cual esté unido a esta historia, existe una nueva serie de acción real que narra lo ocurrido mucho tiempo atrás, antes de las aventuras de Geralt of Rivia, pero antes del estreno de esa serie, llegaría a Netflix una historia más directa al protagonista de The Witcher.

Netflix continues to bet heavily on this universe about **"The Witcher"**, just this year after a long delay both by the Covid-19 and as different situations occurred in the recording of the new season, the streaming company decided that this 2021 to refocus on the whole world full of monsters, magic, villains and heroes, further lengthen this whole universe which began with books and video games, to all this joined the series released in 2019 and that just in December this year will finally be able to see its expected second season, but this is not the only project which is linked to this story, there is a new live-action series that tells what happened long ago, before the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, but before the premiere of that series, would come to Netflix a more direct story to the protagonist of The Witcher.
"Nightmare of the Wolf" es un film animado que cuenta la historia de Vasemir, un Brujo que siempre está dispuesto a enfrentar a las criaturas de la noche; en esta historia de origen veremos cómo diferentes monstruos ponen en peligro los caminos de un reino, justamente el Rey junto a sus consejeros no saben porque ahora existen estos repentinos ataques y eso hace que existan suposiciones buscando culpables para este grave y repentino problema, uno de los señalados son justamente los brujos y es por eso que Vasemir deberá investigar hasta saber la verdad sobre quien está detrás de estos mortales ataques.
"Nightmare of the Wolf" is an animated film that tells the story of Vasemir, a sorcerer who is always ready to face the creatures of the night; in this origin story we will see how different monsters endanger the roads of a kingdom, just the King and his advisors do not know why there are now these sudden attacks and that makes there are assumptions looking for culprits for this serious and sudden problem, one of those singled out are just the warlocks and that is why Vasemir must investigate to learn the truth about who is behind these deadly attacks.
No soy un acérrimo seguidor de The Witcher, nunca he leído algunos de los libros basado en este personaje ni mucho menos he jugado los videos juegos, lo único que he consumido sobre esta historia es la serie de Netflix la cual me gustó mucho aunque no es perfecta, pero en realidad forma la base para para lo que posiblemente veamos en el mes de diciembre, es por eso que cuando se estrena esta película quería verla sabiendo que esto entraría en el mismo universo de la serie y quería ver mucho más sobre esta historia ya que la película sirve como primera precuela a todo lo hecho por Netflix; está es una historia de origen, de origen del mentor de Geralt, uno algo diferente al que se narra en la serie, es de esas historias en dónde alguien cree que no tiene un futuro claro y cuando aparece la oportunidad de un cambio, no duda en dejar todo atrás para obtener lo que tanto a añorado, primeramente lo veo de esa forma, pero al transcurso de la historia lo tomo como un pacto con el diablo en dónde claramente vendes tu alma y mucho tiempo después puedes descubrir el costo de tus actos, creo que ese es el verdadero tema de esta historia en particular, alguien quien sueña con obtener algo, no todo sino algo y al final a pesar de haber ganado nunca se sentirá como un campeón porque ha perdido mucho, está es sin ninguna duda la historia de Vasemir un Brujo muy diferente a lo que nos muestra en la serie basada en Geralt, sus actitudes son diferentes y poderes también lo son, sé que hay una clara explicación que podemos entender en el film y también el porqué de la soledad del verdadero protagonista de toda esta historia.
I am not a diehard fan of The Witcher, I have never read some of the books based on this character, much less played the video games, the only thing I have consumed about this story is the Netflix series which I liked a lot although it is not perfect, but it really forms the basis for what we will possibly see in December, that's why when this movie is released I wanted to see it knowing that this would enter the same universe of the series and wanted to see much more about this story as the film serves as the first prequel to everything done by Netflix; this is an origin story, the origin of Geralt's mentor, one somewhat different from the one told in the series, it is one of those stories where someone believes he has no clear future and when the opportunity for change appears, he does not hesitate to leave everything behind to get what he has longed for, at first I see it that way, but in the course of the story I take it as a pact with the devil where you clearly sell your soul and long after you can discover the cost of your actions, I think that's the real theme of this particular story, someone who dreams of getting something, not everything but something and in the end despite having won will never feel like a champion because he has lost a lot, this is undoubtedly the story of Vasemir a Warlock very different from what is shown in the series based on Geralt, his attitudes are different and powers are also different, I know there is a clear explanation that we can understand in the film and also why the loneliness of the true protagonist of this whole story.
La animación a parte de su historia son las cosas que considero positivas de este film, me gustó mucho el diseño de los varios Brujos que aparecen, todos tienen características propias y no son copias del verdadero personaje principal, las criaturas en cambio creo que su diseño pudo ser mejor, algo grotesco y más terroríficas aunque tal vez no deba darle tanta importancia ya que todavía tengo fresco en mi memoria la serie "Castlevania" también de Netflix y es que por momentos se hizo imposible poder separar lo viste en esa serie animada y está película, pero siguiendo con la animación, hay muchas cosas para resaltar, por ejemplo los paisajes, las pocas escenas de acción están muy bien dibujadas, es algo excelente y se ve que está muy bien producidas, ojalá fueran hecho más escenas sobre enfrentamientos entre los protagonistas y diferentes criaturas, pero creo que siguieron una línea en dónde la acción sería poca, pero bien hecha tal como en parte sucede en la serie.
The animation apart from its story are the things that I consider positive of this film, I really liked the design of the various Warlocks that appear, all have their own characteristics and are not copies of the real main character, the creatures instead I think their design could have been better, something grotesque and more terrifying although perhaps I should not give so much importance since I still have fresh in my memory the series "Castlevania" also from Netflix and it is that at times it became impossible to separate what you saw in that animated series and this film, but continuing with the animation, there are many things to highlight, for example the landscapes, the few action scenes are very well drawn, it is something excellent and you can see that it is very well produced, I wish they were made more scenes about confrontations between the protagonists and different creatures, but I think they followed a line where the action would be little, but well done as in part happens in the series.
Disfrute la película aunque sé que pudo ser mejor, creo que hay muchas cosas que se desarrollan que eso priva de tener escenas de acción y de terror, es inevitable para mí no pensar que mejor fueran hecho una miniserie de mínimo cuatro o cinco episodios en dónde tantos los flashback de la antigua vida de Vasemir junto a la actual siendo un famoso Brujo, fuera funcionado mucho mejor; creo que también cae como he visto en varias películas de este año en dejar toda la acción para el acto final en vez de siempre mantener al personaje activo o por lo menos hacer más emocionante las pocas peleas que tiene antes de las últimas escenas, está debe ser mi única queja de esta película la cual sirve muy bien de origen, da gran explicación de diferentes cosas aunque todavía se mantiene en un secreto el pasado de alguien como Geralt que para los que no estamos familiarizados con los libros y juegos de vídeo, tememos el chance de seguir descubriendo de dónde proviene este personaje. Mi recomendación pasa por si han visto la primera temporada de la serie de Netflix o si ya desde hace tiempo siguen las aventuras de este gran personaje entonces vean este film que seguro les gustará porque en realidad no es malo, tiene buena historia y buena animación, en lo personal me siento satisfecho, aunque si esperaba algo más, pero me alegro que Vasemir no es una copia de su pupilo ni viceversa y es por eso que como precuela sirve.
I enjoyed the movie although I know it could have been better, I think there are many things that develop that deprives it of having action scenes and horror, it is inevitable for me not to think that better were made a miniseries of at least four or five episodes where both the flashback of the old life of Vasemir with the current being a famous Warlock, it would have worked much better; I think it also falls as I have seen in several movies this year in leaving all the action for the final act instead of always keeping the character active or at least make more exciting the few fights he has before the last scenes, this should be my only complaint of this movie which serves very well of origin, gives great explanation of different things although it is still kept in a secret the past of someone like Geralt that for those who are not familiar with the books and video games, we fear the chance to continue discovering where this character comes from. My recommendation is that if you have seen the first season of the Netflix series or if you have been following the adventures of this great character for a long time then watch this film that you will surely like because it is not really bad, it has a good story and good animation, personally I feel satisfied, although I expected something more, but I am glad that Vasemir is not a copy of his pupil or vice versa and that is why it serves as a prequel.
