Hey, guys! As you may have already seen, I'm a one-armed girl who loves LOL and, well, as a good fan of this wonderful world, we discovered a miniseries based on this game: Arcane. It was released in the middle of last year's pandemic, although they had planned to do it for 2020 but things were worse. Its home, Riot, produces and directs it, but the animation is by a French studio that manages to make visual magic with all those effects, even Imagine Dragons! Not only did they make the intro of the series, but they also appear in it (obviously, in a part where they play that song, but they are in it and aha). I'll tell you according to what you can see in the series, I don't know the complete story of each character, remember that it's "based" and there will always be one or another little thing that doesn't go.

¡Hi, muchachones! Como ya habrán visto por ahí, soy una manca que adora LOL y, bueno, como buena fan recién de este maravilloso mundo, descubrimos una miniserie basada en este juego: Arcane. Fue estrenada en plena pandemia del año pasado, aunque tenían pensado hacerlo para el 2020 pero como que estaba peor la cosa. Su casa, Riot, la produce y dirige pero la animación esta por cuenta de un estudio francés que logra hacer magia visual con todos esos efectos. ¡Hasta sale Imagine Dragons! No solo hicieron el intro de la serie, sino que también aparecen en ella (obvio, en una parte donde tocan esa canción, pero salen y ajá). Les contaré según lo que se puede apreciar en la serie, no me sé la historia completa de cada personaje, recuerden que está “basada” y siempre habrá una que otra cosita que no va.

The Suburban district, or Zaun, was always a very troubled place, so Piltóver sent his Vigilantes to "calm" the waters. Vi and Powder were just children when they lost their parents and Vander took them in, but even before that, Vi, being the eldest, already knew how to fend for herself. Powder, on the other hand, being so small, everything went awkwardly for her.

Golpe de Realidad.

El distrito Suburbano o Zaun, siempre fue un lugar muy conflictivo, por lo que Piltóver enviaba a sus Vigilantes a “calmar” las aguas. Vi y Powder apenas eran unas niñas cuando perdieron a sus padres y Vander las acogió, pero ya desde antes, Vi, al ser la mayor, ya sabía valerse por sí sola. Powder, por otra parte, como era tan pequeña, todo le salía de manera torpe.

While most of them were managing to survive in Zaun, things were looking good in Piltover. That city was looking to improve its future and the study of a young man, Jayce, is the one that will provide it, without knowing that his creation, the Hextech, will be the beginning of the war. This new technology was intended to help ordinary people in their jobs through magic and science. Magic was a taboo subject and many feared of it, as by magic, the city had been destroyed before.

El Inicio del Progreso.

Mientras la mayoría se encargaba de sobrevivir en Zaun, en Piltóver la cosa pintaba de mil maravillas. Esa ciudad se encontraba en vista de mejorar su futuro y el estudio de un joven, Jayce, es el que lo proveerá, sin saber que su creación, el Hextech, será el inicio de la guerra. Esta nueva tecnología estaba destinada a ayudar a las personas comunes en sus trabajos mediante la magia y la ciencia. La magia era un tema tabú y muchos temían de ella, ya que por la magia, se había destruido antes la ciudad.

Vi's gang was in charge of looking for loot in Piltóver, but when they were with Powder, everything fell apart. They lose much of what they collected but Powder has in his possession the Hextech gems, which causes, in part, a new conflict between the two districts. Everyone blames her for being so clumsy but Vi defends her sister to the hilt, while Vander also tries to protect them and hide them from the Watchers. What they don't know, is the plan that is hatched behind Vander's back, and it's just what starts the new war.

¿Mala Suerte?

La pandilla de Vi, se encargaban de buscar botines en Piltóver, pero al estar con Powder todo se venía abajo. Pierden gran parte de lo recogido pero Powder tiene en su poder las gemas Hextech, lo que ocaciona, en parte un nuevo conflicto entre ambos distritos. Todos le echan la culpa a ella por ser tan torpe pero Vi defiende a capa y espada a su hermana, mientras Vander también trata de protegerlos y esconderlos de los Vigilantes. Lo que no saben, es el plan que se trama a espaldas de Vander, y es justo lo que da inicio a la nueva guerra.

While hiding and escaping, Vi decides to turn herself in to save her sister and friends, which causes Powder to go into a state of depression. Vander, seeing how she was, understands what is happening and goes after Vi, manages to save her, but he is caught and taken to Silco. Silco was in charge of filling the streets with Brillo, a drug that deforms people and gives them superhuman strength. When Vi finds out what happened to Vander, she looks for the gang to rescue him and yells at Powder to stay; she can't stand it and creates a bomb with the gems she had saved, she goes to where her sister was and to save her, she creates a big explosion where her friends die. Vi, noticing that Powder was there and that she was the one who caused all that, gets angry and "abandons" her.

Primer Quiebre.

Mientras se esconden y escapan, Vi decide entregarse con tal de salvar a su hermana y amigos, lo que hace que Powder entre en un estado de depresión. Vander al ver cómo estaba ella, entiende lo que sucede y va tras Vi, logra salvarla pero a él lo atrapan y se lo llevan a Silco. Silco se encargaba de llenar las calles de Brillo, una droga que deforma a las personas y les da una fuerza sobrehumana. Cuando Vi se entera de lo que le sucedió a Vander, busca a la pandilla para rescatarlo y le gruita a Powder que se quede; ella no puede soportarlo y crea una bomba con las gemas que tenía guardadas, va hacia donde estaba su hermana y para salvarla, crea una gran explosión donde mueren sus amigos. Vi al notar que Powder estaba ahí y que fue ella la que ocasionó todo eso, se enfurece y la “abandona”.

Years pass and the Hextech is working in Piltóver, Jayce becomes an important guy. Zaun is still in the ruins and Silco traffics more Brillo than ever. Nobody knows anything about Vi, she is presumed dead. Everyone knows that Silco now has a new "daughter", Jinx (Powder) and that she is crazy. This is where Caitlyn comes in, she is determined to investigate the trafficking at any cost. She gets Vi in a jail and manages to free her, they go straight to the suburban district (Caitlyn to look for answers and Vi to her sister), the "special treatment" that exists between the two is already noticeable.

Nuevos Lazos.

Pasan los años y el Hextech está funcionando en Piltóver, Jayce se vuelve un tipo importante. Zaun sigue en las ruinas y Silco trafica más Brillo que nunca. Nadie sabe nada de Vi, la dan por muerta. Todos saben que Silco ahora tiene una nueva “hija”, Jinx (Powder) y que está loca. Es aquí donde entra la figura de Caitlyn, que está empeñada en investigar sobre el tráfico a cualquier costo. Consigue a Vi en una cárcel y logra liberarla, van directo al distrito suburbano (Caitlyn a buscar respuestas y Vi a su hermana), ya se va notando el “trato especial” que hay entre las dos.

I'd better stop here because at the rate I'm going, I'll tell the whole plot. What I will say is that it is a story of several champions, focusing mostly on Vi, Caitlyn and Jinx.

Mejor paro aquí porque al paso que voy, contaré toda la trama. Lo que sí diré es que es una historia de varios campeones, centrándose sobre todo en Vi, Caitlyn y Jinx.

The way they show pure misery, manipulation and corruption is impressive, even if it is "fiction", it never ceases to amaze how much it resembles our reality. And really the animation is brutal, I love that original style, the music so precise for each moment. Seeing how little by little is the evolution of the characters, you understand why they are the way they are in the game; in fact, it amazes many things in relation to their personalities and leaves a bitter feeling to see how close some characters were and see how they end up. The ending is very obvious but leaves you wanting more. And as I write, my husband tells me that a new season is coming but about Lux, these are rumors but I hope they are real. It would be spectacular to know those details about the characters. It is more than obvious that I recommend it 100%, so, as I always say: "if you haven't seen it, watch it and if you have already seen it, watch it again, you can't lose anything".

La forma en que muestran la miseria pura, la manipulación y la corrupción es impresionante, aunque sea “ficción”, no deja de sorprender qué tanto se parece a nuestra realidad. Y de verdad que la animación es brutal, amo ese estilo tan original, la música tan precisa para cada momento. Ir viendo como poco a poco es la evolución de los personajes, se va entendiendo porqué son como son en el juego; de hecho, asombra muchas cosas con relación a sus personalidades y deja un sentimiento amargo ver qué tan cercanos era algunos personajes y ver cómo terminan. El final es muy obvio pero deja con ganas de más. Y mientras escribo, mi esposo me cuenta que según viene una nueva temporada pero sobre Lux, son rumores pero espero que sean reales. Sería espectacular conocer esos detalles de los personajes. Es más que obvio que la recomiendo 100%, así que, como siempre les digo: “si no la han visto, véanla y si ya la vieron, vuélvanla a ver, no tiene pérdida de nada”.
