So the new episode of Doctor Who ended with the doctor regenerating into a female... I will reserve comment on that and talk instead about the glass people.

I have actually written stories about such a concept in the past. ie. Why would a future race run ancestor simulations as proposed by some authors and scientists.
Well, this episode is exactly why. If you had time travel you could snatch people from the past, clone them, copy memories, and swap souls or whatever, and then replace the husk to die as it should in the past.
Or it can even be accomplished without time travel. ie. If you were to run an infinite number of ancestor simulation iterations, you could search for the simulation that was the exact match to the DNA results of reality, ie, like in Assassins Creed, with the Animus. So once you found a proper ancestor simulation with the correct chain of events and history and correct DNA sequencing, you could then transfer those digital beings into cloned bodies in the real world. And basically resurrect the real person. Same as if you had used time travel basically, but without it...
I really am afraid of the show becoming feminism based... but I'm gonna give it a chance.

I love the glass people. and the implications it brings to mind. ie. Are you now trapped from entering a real heaven if it exists. Does your real soul exist in heaven while a shadow version of you exists in glass. Is there no heaven and it was always God's intention for us to create heaven in the future ourselves using technology. Or is the glass you the actual soul of your real life created through retrocausality and your whole life has been linked to your glass self through time and entanglement. Quite wondrous to ponder... I tend to think it is not a good thing to trap you soul within physical reality eternally though...Although I would argue a few million or even billion years couldn't hurt :P
