  1. 📺 Doctor Who Season 2 (2025) | When The Magic Is Gone@screenjournal388d

This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews.

    About Doctor Who

I can easily say that Doctor who (modern era 2005 -> 2015) is one of my favorite series of all time before things really went on a decline.

The Premise of the story is that there is a Time Lord who is the last of his kind who calls himself the Doctor. He's somewhat of a super hero but his traits are different, his super Power is that he has 2 Hearts (extra kindness) and can regenerate i n case he dies, his transportatioin is the Tardis which is a time machine in the shape of a police box (which people call to find help) and his weapon is a Sonic Screwdriver (Which fixes things). He's this very smart empathic guy who basically lives forever and travels trought time and space always finding a human companion to travel with. Ultimately he's quite lonely as he's the last of his kind and always needs to say goodbye to the ones that get clos to him. His tardis always tends to land in places where some kind of help is needed and there are many enemies he's facing (The Daleks, The Cybermen, the Wheeping Angels, ...). Instead of fighting them, he always first tries to talk them over.

As an intelligent nerd who has a high sense of morality, this show is just super relatable and hits all the right notes. It also really feeds into the inner child in me and also to the adult which is something I tend to enjoy. The main themes of compassion, kindness, doing the right thing, friendship, exploration just really work well and there is also nothing of real violence, sex, addiction, infidelity, ... present in the show while the sci-fi setting is just really nerdy. At times it also gets a bit scary and generally it just had excellent writing with a main plotline over the season and individual standalone episodes.

Since the doctor can regenerate, it leaves a lot of room to keep the show fresh and every couple of seasons there is a new doctor and a new companion. This cycle of saying goodbye to someone and embracing a new era has worked very well until they screwed it all up going way too woke.

    The downfall of Doctor Who

While Series 1 to 10 generally were just excellent across the board, for season 13 they kind of changed things as it was time for a female doctor and instead of 1 companion they had 3 which were a young black guy, and old white dude and a pakistani women while the stories often resolved around themes like "plastic waste is bad" and things like that. There also was a new showrunner and things just were not the same with the views declining. It was also the time when I actually stopped wacthing. I did eventually binge them with an eye to give the new rebrand a try after it got aquired by Disney+

The 14th Series was called Season 1 in the hope to attract new viewers and there was back a dynamic of a Male doctor and a young female companion. The old showrunner was also brought back along with some special episodes inbetween season bringing back David Tennant as the doctor who is a fan favorite. However, for the new doctor, they had to take a black guy and make him gay which still kept the woke virus into it. It's not that the new doctor and even the previous female doctor where doing a bad job, it's more that the stories were no longer good and original enough. In Season 1 (Series 14) there was just 1 episode that really did it for me and brought back some of the old Doctor Who Magic which was the episode named 73 Yards

    Doctor Who Season 2 (2025) (5.9/10)

I watched this season which had again just 8 episodes on a week-by-week timeframe but it was not so that I was looking forward to each new episode watching it the moment it was released. Instead it was so that I kind of had to tell myself that I still needed to watch it. All of this in the hope of at least having 1 great episide which made it worth it. However, this never really came and it overall was another big dissapointment.

The overall story arch of Season 2 was pretty much the same as Season 1 with 1 mysterious Character (Misses Flood) returning each episode somewhere who turned out to be one of the old Doctor who Villains (The Rani) in a reveal nobody really cared about as only the die hard fans ever watched the pre-2025 era of the show. This all lead to an anti-climax and a weak plotline.

    Individual Episodes

Joy To The World was the christmas special which has a character that returns near the end of season 2 so it's a must watch. I honestly barely remembered it when the character returned.

The Robot Revolution introduced the new Companion named Belinda and was mostly visuals over story. I liked the gimmich that the enemies didn't compute the 9th word of every sentece but overall it was pretty weak I would say. I do like Belinda but overall there was very little of her in the season as she mostly was there without much of a dynamic growing between her and the doctor.

Lux kind of felt like a gimmick episode with a cartoon character coming to life and overall it was kind of mediocre even though I didn't hate it.

The Well was the episode I enjoyed the most as it gave some of those old doctor who vibes and it's also somewhat of a follow up to an old Episode. Despite all this, it also is not one that will be too memorable.

Lucky Day brought back last seasons companion and had a really lame twist at the end which set some things up for the end of the season.

The Story & The Engine I would say was a good attempt at a classic doctor who story but it also just fell short.

The Interstellar Song Contest was the episode that tapped into real time events with Eurovion on the same day. I also found this plot to be just too weak.

Wish World & The Reality War was the season final double episode. The first one had some ok aspects in it but overall the vilain reveals were more of a gimmich and there are also just way too many uninteresting characters in the entire Unit storyline. The ending 'twist' was also more of the same deperation attempts to bring back what used to be but it likely will make things worse.

    Conclusion

Series 1 to 10 of Doctor who are a blast and really worth the watch especially if you like nerdy shows and have a high sense of justice and morality. Generally it's said to watch the episode named Blink (Season 3 Episode 10) as a standalone episodes to see if Doctor who is something for you. However, the new seasons now on Disney+ and starting from the 13th doctor it hasn't been worth it anymore. The only reason I still watch is in the hope to get 1 banger episode like 73 Yards from the previous season. However, this time this was not there so only a dissapointing 5.9/10 for Doctor Who Season 2 as the magic that this show used to have is totally gone.

https://www.serialfiller.org/lastposts This is the future link to the post that I am inviting you to read in the coming days at www.serialfiller.org and which is previewed here

As usual today I am bringing you in a new Preview of a post that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to give you constantly, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.

Let's go back, today, with this recentweet to one of the most recent New Year's Eve specials of the boundless Doctor Who saga. As you may know, and as I detailed in this post, the excellent Jodie Whittaker is about to leave the Tardis and indulge in a journey to other shores. Ncuti Gatwa, known to fans of Sex Education, will be the new doctor, to be precise the doctor with tunic number 14. With the thirteenth season we have seen a strong acceleration from the epic of the man/woman with 2 hearts in her chest native/native of Gallifrey. Season 14 will be called upon to reshuffle the cards without neglecting all that has been good so far and trying to lift the fortunes of a show that could have derailed and didn't but could also have soared and didn't. This New Year's Eve special is emblematic of that. The Daleks return and are as fearsome as ever. The episode, however, leaves a rather bittersweet taste, turning out not to be as epic as expected but without boring as a good year-end special episode has always given us. I have tried to tell you about it, to tell that niche of fans and curious people who are still quivering at the arrival of the next special. I am among them, always have been, although lately the anticipation is getting lower and lower. Is the fans' mood still high? You tell me. It's always nice to honor the doctor, it's always nice to travel with him/her to distant, strange worlds and meet even stranger and more distant people and characters, always humanity at the center, always the struggle for survival at the center. Enough chatter and off we go with the launch of this old post which you can find at the link. Happy reading and buckle up when you enter the TARDIS. Take care!

Revolution of The Daleks: the Doctor Who New Year's Eve special doesn't excite this time around.

Looking forward to the next medical drama?

British TV shows are better than anything?

Have you always really liked Ben Whishaw as an actor?

BBC churns out one of the most intense, topical and intelligent series of 2022. Titled This Is Going To Hurt, it is a medical drama (and something more) and its star is Ben Whishaw, known to most for his recurring role in the 007 saga and to serial audiences for his recent roles in Fargo and A Very English Scandal. Adam Kay is the creator of the 7 episodes that make up the first season and, interestingly, Adam Kay is also the name of the main character, played by Ben Whishaw.

Every 3 weeks a doctor, in Britain, takes his or her own life. We could summarize in this sentence made explicit by the very protagonist in the final episode, everything the show wants to highlight to the audience at home. This Is Going To Hurt more than being a medical drama is a tale of the daily drama that the generation of doctors closest to us is experiencing. Crazy shifts, low pay, skyrocketing insurance, out-of-control patients, and unbelievable responsibilities put every single doctor to the ultimate test. Forget the prestige that doctors, whether general practitioners or specialists or hospitalists, enjoyed until some 20 years ago. Today, the figure of the physician has changed considerably and is considerably less appreciated and recognized, even by the increasingly disorienting and increasingly fierce audience of patients who are ready to question any medical opinion if not supported by the voices of vulgate or those of the Web. But, as always, it is the State, the System, that chills those who, like Adam, after decades of study and apprenticeship are forced to answer callbacks, drive an almost throw-away car, work 90-hour shifts, be a leader, a mentor, a boss, and also try to be a good doctor in the ward and a good son, boyfriend and friend outside. It is no coincidence, then, that we return to the above statistic, made up of an atrocious truth and an incontrovertible trend. Being a doctor today leads to depression, burnout, suicide, or, more generally, detachment from affection, loss of loved ones, and giving up something normal. Whereas this used to be offset by economic growth and social momentum of the highest order (think of the merciless comparison between Adam and Chief Lockart) today this is no longer the case. Doctors are treated the same as waiters or laborers in this crazy world where everything is leveled downward and everything seems to be living through a season of flattening and annihilation. Adam knows it well, Shruti, a resident with a big heart and strong passion to whom that work remains clinging inside as well as on her and to whom it is not enough to have passed an exam, to have conducted a delicate operation in a commendable manner, to have received compliments from a compatriot to convince herself that everything makes sense. Shruti's life, broken by that pace and those uncertainties, should be worth more than other lives, should be a life worth trying to save, preemptively. We called them heroes only a few months ago, when nurses and doctors saved us from the damn covid, putting their lives on the line for all of us every day. Our memory is, however, so short that it prevents us from remembering those moments and those compliments we bestowed every day, and so, a few handfuls of months later, the cuts continue, the bonuses disappear, the vacations fade, the compliments cancel. We have forgotten, again about them, about that unfortunate generation that experiences every day what Shruti and Adam experience in This Is Going To Hurt. The series has the merit of shining the spotlight on this reality, on this sectional and generational drama that needed to be told. The British show hits the mark thanks to a brisk pace and a wry and fragile Ben Whishaw as never before, beautifully in part as the irreverent, frustrated and smug doctor but also as the neglected son and impossible boyfriend. Whether you are a doctor or friends, relatives of doctors born in the 80s and 90s, you will fully grasp all the main elements the show brings to the table. If you are, on the other hand, totally divorced from these dynamics you will be able to get a sense of how much sacrifice and spirit of endurance it takes to be an Adam or a Shruti in this world today.

  4. Without a doubt, a "Ten" | Top 5 Doctor Who incarnations [Eng-Esp].@adalathu1444d
    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2835279361?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pos_82)

Hello, friends of this nice community, today I want to share with you a post that I have days in my head and I did not know how to put together. At first I thought of doing a review, but being Doctor Who a series with a rather special format I decided to approach the subject in a different way, doing a countdown, so Allons-Y.

Ir a la versión en español.

It chronicles the adventures of The Doctor a Timelord able to travel through time and space using his TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) in which he gets involved in all sorts of potentially dangerous situations. The Doctor is charged with ensuring the safety of the earth, time and the universe.

Doctor Who is an English science fiction series, recognized for being the television series of this genre with the longest duration in the world (Sorry Trekkies), in fact next year is its 60th anniversary, but how can it be so long-lived?, You may ask and here comes into play the wonderful mind of the British, in the best style of the legendary James Bond, The Doctor is a character played by different actors in different "Eras", this is because after a certain time the character is "regenerated" in a new body, this is what gives rise to the change of actor.

Broadly speaking there are two "Eras" of Doctor Who, there is the Classic Who covering the first seven regenerations and the Revival or Modern Who made up of the last 5 regenerations, there are other regenerations that have been unveiled throughout history, but in general in this post I will talk about the regenerations that have starred in the series in the modern era, from nine to thirteen.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm3756256001?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_pos_107)

I find this series great in many ways, it belongs to the sci-fi genre which is one of my favorites, besides encompassing time travel and anti-apocalyptic missions, it has a good dose of comedy, drama and there are even several chapters that are truly chilling. Plus of course it has a large dose of history and we are introduced to several famous characters generally in an endearing way. Another highlight for me in this series are the villains, from the Cybermen, to the Weeping Angels, to the legendary Daleks, the villains in Doctor Who are truly iconic, despicable and mostly represented by entire races of cruel creatures, with the Doctor's biggest antagonist being The Master another Timelord with a thirst for conquest and a desire to wreak havoc.

One of the things I like and appreciate the most of the first seasons of the modern series is that they kept the practical effects and prosthetics of yesteryear, this is something that I usually value a lot of productions, I will always prefer an actor characterized than a character generated entirely by computer and although in recent seasons they have integrated more computerized special effects there are still characters with prosthetics and makeup.

Something that characterizes this series is the presence of a companion, usually a human woman, the companions are a key piece in the adventures of The Doctor, they are his grounding cable when he loses the north, besides serving as a character to empathize and in some cases provide the story with romantic and comic elements, also the presence of a human in the team shows us that even the smallest human can make a big change.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2771237377?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pbl_303)

Before we go to the count I would like to make a special mention to the most important companion of The Doctor, the fabulous TARDIS, I must say that it is a dream for me that there is a technology like that, that allows you to travel through time and space, even though sometimes it fails, to be able to travel anywhere and in any time I find it simply fantastic, besides that it is the origin of a legendary gag in the series and is that on the outside it has the appearance of a British police phone booth, but inside it is HUGE, so most of the characters who enter for the first time say variations of the famous phrase "It's bigger on the inside".

Now let's go with the count, because if I keep going down this road it's going to be a review instead of a ranking.

    #5 - Thirteenth Doctor

This incarnation made history in the series by being the first incarnation portrayed by a woman. The actress in charge of bringing the thirteenth regeneration to life is Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch) and had the tough job of dealing with critics who would not accept a female personification of The Doctor, even though The Master, another Timelord-Timelady, also had a female representation with wide acceptance from Whovians.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1884388352?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_sf_7)

While she's not my favorite incarnation, that has more to do with the fact that the story they handled with her didn't really appeal to me than that she was a woman. During its three seasons the canon of the series suffered strong changes and I think many fans have had a hard time digesting them, however, Jodie seems to me an excellent actress who creates a truly magical character with all the characteristics we love about The Doctor: her weirdness, strange sense of humor and above all, her pacifism. This incarnation was characterized by having several companions at the same time, reaching three during the first two seasons, when it was usually one or two at the same time, and also kept them for almost all its cycle unlike other incarnations that had different companions throughout their seasons.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1901165568/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

My favorite episode of this incarnation was definitely the New Year's special aired this year called Eve of the Daleks in which the TARDIS generates a loop that had them reliving New Year's Eve over and over again, it was definitely a nod to Groundhog Day and I found it quite entertaining to watch them try to survive the Dalek menace that stalked them during this loop.

    #4 - Twelfth Doctor

In charge of this portrayal was Peter Capaldi (In the Loop, Suicide Squad), an extraordinary and charismatic actor who gave us a version of The Doctor a little different from what we were used to, a little more somber and perhaps a little grumpy. Honestly the seasons of this Doctor seemed to me that they were somewhat difficult for the character, he goes through complicated situations and that put in doubt his actions, I think he has been one of the modern incarnations that had the hardest time keeping his companions safe, plus he had to go through terrible times when he was locked in a "castle" for billions of years.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1037105152/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

During this incarnation we are introduced to Missy, my favorite version of The Master, she is a tremendously charismatic Timelady who stands up to The Doctor in a fun and somewhat Machiavellian way, unfortunately we only see her in this incarnation, I would have liked to see her in other seasons. As I mentioned before Twelve's relationship with his companions is quite difficult, so much so that even one of them dies without him being able to save her, this leads the story to one of the best episodes it has had and certainly the best of the Capaldi era.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm3715948544/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

This chapter is called Heaven Sent and takes place in a kind of castle in which the doctor is imprisoned, where he is forced to reflect on his actions and to accept the death of Clara, is a very strong episode where we see a hundred acting skills of Peter Capaldi as he takes the episode almost alone, it is a chapter with many emotions and with enough feeling, one of my favorites of the modern era of Doctor Who.

    #3 - Ninth Doctor

Among Whoovians it is said that your first "Doctor" always stays with you and so it does, this was the first Doctor I saw and it certainly has a special place in my heart as it was the gateway to this wonderful universe that is Doctor Who. He is played by Christopher Eccleston (Existenz, Thor: The Dark World) and although he only played the role of the Doctor for one season he is a favorite of many as he gave a simply "Fantastic!" performance, he gave the character an endearing personality although at times he portrayed a strong and somewhat harsh character.

As an incarnation that lasted only one season it featured only one companion, Rose Tyler, who would later become one of the most important and beloved companions of the show's modern era.

This was The Doctor that made me love the series, introduced us to memorable villains and a "catch phrase" that will live on in the memory of Whovians. My favorite episode of this one is undoubtedly The Empty Child, it takes place during WWII and is a chilling and tremendously sad episode, I think it could be said that this is my second favorite episode of the series, as well as one of the most iconic and remembered among fans.

    #2 - Eleventh Doctor

Geronimo! This incarnation is simply hilarious, charismatic and an extremely jovial character. He is played by actor Matt Smith (The Crown, House of the Dragon) and I belive he has been the youngest actor to play The Doctor in the history of the series, his seasons were full of adventures and introduced us to two of the most beloved companions of the fans: Amy and Rory, as well as their daughter who would later be discovered as the Doctor's wife, River Song.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2181870336?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_sf_78)

The seasons of this Doctor were some of my favorites and left us with some truly beautiful and entertaining moments, as well as introducing us to a new and fearsome breed of villains The Silence which supposedly have always existed, however, they have the ability to be forgotten when you look away from them. During the seasons of this incarnation we got a very important weight the Weeping Angels, which are quantum beings able to catch you and return you to any place in time, in fact one of my favorite episodes of the series called The angels take Manhattan is basically about them, it is an extremely exciting and tragic episode.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm389069312/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

But without a second's hesitation my favorite episode of the eleventh incarnation and in general of the modern era of Doctor Who is Vincent and The Doctor, it's a beautifully emotional episode in which we meet Vincent Van Gogh, and well, we all know how Van Gogh's life was and that his wonderful work was never recognized during his lifetime, but in this episode The Doctor gives Vincent a glimpse of what his work means to humanity today, it's a totally touching final scene that we wish could be a reality.

    #1 - Tenth Doctor

Ten, Ten, Ten's across the board! We've finally reached the end of the list and number one could be none other than my beloved TEN, played by the very talented David Tennant (Broadchurch, Jessica Jones, Good Omens) is for me the most charismatic and endearing portrayal of The Doctor. I love the humanity and quirkiness that Tennant injects into the character, with his distinctive appearance he is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable, remembered and beloved incarnations of The Doctor.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1191431168/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

During three seasons he takes us through incredible adventures with several companions and if I'm not mistaken he is The Doctor with more companions, at least of the modern series, having a total of 12 companions. But without a doubt my favorite is the outrageously funny Donna Noble, played by the very talented Catherine Tate, plus I would also like to highlight the participation of the incredible John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, a very special companion and who also makes a brief reappearance in the last seasons with the Thirteenth Doctor.

    [Source - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm652410368?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pos_12)

Finding a favorite episode from the seasons of Ten was no easy task, but going through the list of these there is one that finally stood out: Blink, it is an episode with a bit of mystery and suspense in which we are introduced for the first time to the fearsome Weeping Angels, in this episode they manage to create an atmosphere of complete tension as these monsters attack at the moment when you don't see them, so when the characters face these villains they can't even blink, because at that moment they are attacked by these creatures and immediately sent to another time, which while not something so scary, but I honestly wouldn't want it to happen to me.

And well friends we finally reached the end of the publication, I hope you liked it as much as I enjoyed writing it and if you have not seen this series and Science Fiction calls your attention do not wait any longer to see it, you will enjoy it enormously, if I had to rank it without a doubt I would give it a 9 out of 10, or even a little more because I truly love it.

Best regards and see you in the next publication.

TOP 5 ENCARNACIONES DE DOCTOR WHO

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2835279361?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pos_82)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm3756256001?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_pos_107)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2771237377?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pbl_303)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1884388352?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_sf_7)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1901165568/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1037105152/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm3715948544/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm4228957953?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm3141744128?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm2181870336?ref_=ttmi_mi_nm_sf_78)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm389069312/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

Ten, Ten, Ten's across the board!

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm1191431168/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

    [Fuente - IMDB](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436992/mediaviewer/rm652410368?ref_=ttmi_mi_typ_pos_12)
