Hello friends, welcome to my blog, I had heard some things about this movie, but until a few days ago I had not had the opportunity to see it, the truth is that I thought it would be another terrorism and civil war movie that at the end of the 60s and 70 convulsed Northern Ireland. Maybe that's why I wasn't in a hurry to see her. To my surprise I was wrong and the approach given by its director and screenwriter Kenneth Branagh was totally different and it was more about the memories and experiences of the families that lived at that time and how they faced the environment when for religious reasons the families were radicalized. people on two sides, Catholics and Protestants.
Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi blog, había escuchado algunas cosas de esta película, pero hasta hace unos días no había tenido oportunidad de ver, la verdad que pensé que sería otra película de terrorismo y de la guerra civil que a finales de los años 60 y 70 convulsionaron a Irlanda del Norte. Tal vez por ello no tuve prisa de verla. Para mi sorpresa me equivoque y el enfoque que le dio su director y guionista Kenneth Branagh, fue totalmente diferente y se trato más de los recuerdos y vivencias de las familias que vivieron en esa época y como enfrentaron el entorno cuando por razones religiosas se radicalizaron las personas en dos bandos, católicos y protestantes.

Su director es irlandés y vivió esa época así que eso hace especial esta cinta porque refleja lo que sintió y vivió de niño, quizás esto la haga un poco autobiográfica. Con un reparto encabezados por actores de primer orden como: Jude Hill, Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench, Ciarán Hinds, Lewis McAskie, Lara McDonnell, Gerard Horan, Turlough Convery, Sid Sagar, Josie Walker, Chris McCurry, Colin Morgan y otros. La cinta nos muestra a través de la inocencia de un niño (Buddy), los cambios que se están gestando y como se ve afectaba su comunidad, su calle y su familia.
I loved the film and especially the character of Buddy (Jude Hill), who gives him that mischievous and innocent touch that gets him into trouble but despite that he always tries to do the right thing. One of the scenes that I loved and that even reminded me of a personal anecdote is when Buddy is taken by his cousin to loot a store and the girl tells him to take something and despite the fear he takes a detergent, when they ask him why he took the detergent , only manages to say because it is biological. It made me laugh that within the chaos and danger that was his answer.
Me encantó la cinta y sobre todo el personaje de Buddy (Jude Hill), que le da ese toque travieso e inocente que lo hace meter en problemas pero que a pesar de ello siempre trata de hacer lo correcto. Una de las escenas que me encantaron y que incluso me recordó una anécdota personal es cuando Buddy es llevado por su prima a saquear una tienda y la chica le dice que tome algo y a pesar del miedo toma un detergente, cuando le preguntan porque tomo el detergente, solo atina a decir porque es biológico. Me causó risa que dentro del caos y el peligro que se encontraba esa fuera su respuesta.
Other things that I loved about the film is that camaraderie that Buddy has with his grandparents, how he listens to them and asks for advice to conquer the girl he likes. The film shows us the family environment and the importance of the family. It also shows us how overnight hatred, ignorance and violence are brewing in a community where everyone knows each other, they are neighbors and despite this religious differences are stronger. A community and a country that was convulsed by cultural changes, economic problems of unemployment and violence, which forced many to leave to seek new opportunities for themselves and their families.
Otras cosas que me encanto de la cinta es esa camarería que Buddy tiene con sus abuelos, como los escucha y le pide consejos para conquistar a la chica que le gusta. La cinta nos muestra el entorno familiar y la importancia de la familia. También nos va mostrando como de la noche a la mañana el odio, la ignorancia y la violencia se van gestando en una comunidad en donde todos se conocen, son vecinos y a pesar de ello las diferencias religiosas pueden más. Una comunidad y un país que fue convulsionando por los cambios culturales, los problemas económicos del desempleo y la violencia, que obligaron a muchos a marcharse para buscar nuevas oportunidades para ellos y sus familias.
Buddy's family must decide between going or staying, they do not want to take sides between the religious factions, but they are pressured to do so. Families that for generations have lived on the same street where everyone knows each other and leaving that to go to a new home is not easy. I think that each one of us, to a greater or lesser extent, as families and individuals, we see ourselves reflected a little in the situations that this family goes through and that makes us understand, live and remember our own experiences.
La familia de Buddy deberá decidir entre irse o quedarse, ellos no quieren tomar partido entre los bandos religiosos, pero se ven presionados para que lo hagan. Familias que por generaciones han vivido en la misma calle en donde todos se conocen y dejar eso para irse aun nuevo hogar, no es fácil. Pienso que cada uno en mayor o menor medida como familias y personas nos vemos un poco reflejados en las situaciones por la que pasa está familia y eso hace que entendamos, vivamos y recordemos nuestras propias experiencias.

La verdad que la película refleja una época turbulenta, pero sin profundizar en el entorno porque la cinta es sobre las personas, familias que se quedaron, que decidieron irse y las que a pesar de irse solo esperan el momento de regresar. Es sobre la crecer, los sueños y el entender desde niños lo que es mejor para nosotros como familia. La música de Van Morrison quién es un icono de Belfast como puesta en escena de los momentos felices y el apostar a una cinta en blanco y negro para recordar el pasado y las tomas a color de los lugares modernos y emblemáticos de hoy día hacen esta cinta especial Para mí es un 9 de 10.
