I finally had the time to see the DC League of Super-Pets today after a busy last week. I was caught up with health issues and so much work I barely had time for myself or hive but by grace, I was able to relax and continue with the movies on my list. The first on that list was the DC animated film, league of super pets. I just had to get it out my system. I’ve been excited for this because I saw glimpses of Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart on set and nobody can deny the chemistry they have on and off set, from central intelligence to Jumanji and now this. One thing I learned though was never to get too excited for a movie incase the movie doesn’t live up to my expectations. Nevertheless, it was a good movie and I enjoyed watching it. I’m not sure I’m eager to see it again because it really didn’t have scenes that get you hooked, well maybe it doesn't but I couldn't find any personally.
I love animated movies because the life lessons they give are underrated, one important thing to learn is nobody can do it alone. Most times we try to be our sole support system. Getting help from people doesn’t make you weak, it just makes you human or in this case, dog.
DC League of Super-Pets is a 2022 animated movie directed by Jared Stern and is based off an old comic. Although featured in the movie, the justice league had little to do in the movie. The spot light was left to the pets this time. If anybody has seen the secret life of pets, this movie is like that, only with super powers. There are a ton of other superstars in the movie, I’ll leave you guessing.
The Plot
The movie starts off with the origin of superman; his planet exploding and him being sent off to earth only this time with a twist, his dog, Krypto is there for the ride too. They make it just in time before the destruction of the planet. We see them reside on year few years later as superman and Krypto the super dog. Krypto and superman share an incredible and unbreakable bond until superman decides to get married to Lois Lane, a fellow journalist in the Daily planet where he works undercover as Clark Kent.
This of course gets Krypto jealous and angry, he feels Lois is getting in the way of his friendship with superman. Lois suggests Clark get Krypto a friend from the animal shelter because she believes he might feel lonely and left out. This is the first time the characters of Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, Krypto and Ace (a dog from the shelter) interact.
On the other side of town, lex Luthor plans to use orange kryptonite to grant him powers of his own but the justice league aided by Krypto are there to stop him just in time. A piece of the orange kryptonite falls into the hands of Luthor’s test guinea pig, Lulu. It gives her and the rest of the animals in the shelter superpowers. It is obvious that Lulu is a villain from the start, working with Luthor for so long must’ve messed her up in the head.
Ace the dog becomes indestructible, Chip a squirrel can shoot lightening from his hands, PB the pig can change her size and Merton the turtle has super powers.
Lulu captures superman and the rest of the justice league, rendering Krypto powerless. She creates an army of super guinea in an attempt to free Lex Luthor from prison. Krypto learns that everybody needs a little help sometimes and gets the newly superpowered pets to help him stop Lulu and free the justice league. This wasn’t just about saving the day for Krypto but a journey of growth. He learns the value of true friendship. Does Lulu free Lex or do the super pets make it in time to stop her? You’ll have to watch it to find out. As a bonus, we get to see an interaction between superman and black Adam.
My Opinion
Great movie, if this is how DC is starting off their next phase of movies, I cannot wait for the rest. The movie was well animated and the colour contrast was okay, it wasn’t like those Netflix animated movies. No offence to Netflix but their animation sucks some times. I was very satisfied with this one. As I stated before, you have to enjoy any movie Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson star in, the synergy is crazy and you get to enjoy the comedy dialogue between them, it always sounds like Kevin wants to beat Dwayne.
The plot was okay too, simple story but I can’t give them all the credit since some of the plot was based of the comic. I didn’t read the comic so I can boldly tell you I enjoyed it and everything was new to me. There wasn’t really any twist, maybe just one towards the end but the rest of the plot was pretty much straight forward. The voice actors delivered as expected. Another thing that was fun to see was DC making Marvel references just like Deadpool does with DC. Ace makes a comment about having a magic hammer, a reference to Thor.
Superhero movie fans might have a problem with this movie because the justice league, the most powerful people on the planet were defeated by a bunch of superpowered guinea pigs but then again the movie wasn’t about them so I can’t really say much on that part. Overall, it was a good movie, something the whole family can enjoy. Anybody who has seen it already should give it a 7-9/10 rating but I’m going to stick with an 8/10 rating. You should definitely treat yourself to a good movie and see the DC league of super pets.

Por fin he tenido tiempo de ver la Liga de Supermascotas de DC hoy después de una semana pasada muy ajetreada. Estuve liada con temas de salud y tanto trabajo que apenas tuve tiempo para mí o para la colmena pero por gracia, pude relajarme y seguir con las películas de mi lista. La primera en esa lista era la película animada de DC, la liga de las super mascotas. Tenía que sacarla de mi sistema. He estado emocionado por esto porque vi destellos de Dwayne Johnson y Kevin Hart en el set y nadie puede negar la química que tienen dentro y fuera del set, desde Central Intelligence hasta Jumanji y ahora esto. Una cosa que aprendí es que nunca hay que entusiasmarse demasiado con una película si ésta no está a la altura de mis expectativas. Sin embargo, fue una buena película y disfruté viéndola. No estoy segura de tener ganas de volver a verla porque realmente no tenía escenas que te engancharan, bueno quizás no las tiene pero yo no pude encontrar ninguna personalmente.
Me encantan las películas de animación porque las lecciones de vida que dan están infravaloradas, una cosa importante que se aprende es que nadie puede hacerlo solo. La mayoría de las veces intentamos ser nuestro único sistema de apoyo. Recibir ayuda de la gente no te hace débil, solo te hace humano o en este caso, perro.
DC League of Super-Pets es una película de animación de 2022 dirigida por Jared Stern y basada en un antiguo cómic. Aunque aparece en la película, la liga de la justicia tuvo poco que hacer en la película. En esta ocasión, el protagonismo recayó en las mascotas. Si alguien ha visto "La vida secreta de las mascotas", esta película es como eso, sólo que con superpoderes. Hay una tonelada de otras superestrellas en la película, te dejaré adivinar.
La Trama
La película comienza con el origen de superman, su planeta explota y es enviado a la tierra, pero esta vez con un giro, su perro, Krypto está allí para el viaje también. Llegan justo a tiempo antes de la destrucción del planeta. Los vemos residir unos años más tarde como superman y Krypto, el superperro. Krypto y superman comparten un vínculo increíble e irrompible hasta que superman decide casarse con Lois Lane, una compañera periodista del Daily planet donde trabaja encubierto como Clark Kent.
Esto por supuesto hace que Krypto se ponga celoso y se enfade, siente que Lois se interpone en su amistad con superman. Lois sugiere a Clark que le consiga a Krypto un amigo del refugio de animales porque cree que podría sentirse solo y abandonado. Esta es la primera vez que los personajes de Dwayne Johnson y Kevin Hart, Krypto y Ace (un perro del refugio) interactúan.
En el otro lado de la ciudad, Lex Luthor planea utilizar la kriptonita naranja para otorgarle sus propios poderes, pero la liga de la justicia, ayudada por Krypto, está allí para detenerlo justo a tiempo. Un trozo de kriptonita naranja cae en manos de la cobaya de pruebas de Luthor, Lulu. Le da a ella y al resto de los animales del refugio superpoderes. Es obvio que Lulu es una villana desde el principio, trabajar con Luthor durante tanto tiempo debe haberla desordenado en la cabeza.
El perro Ace se vuelve indestructible, la ardilla Chip puede disparar rayos de sus manos, la cerda PB puede cambiar su tamaño y la tortuga Merton tiene superpoderes.
Lulú captura a Superman y al resto de la Liga de la Justicia, dejando a Krypto sin poderes. Crea un ejército de superguías para intentar liberar a Lex Luthor de la cárcel. Krypto aprende que todo el mundo necesita un poco de ayuda a veces y consigue que las nuevas mascotas superpoderosas le ayuden a detener a Lulú y a liberar a la liga de la justicia. Para Krypto no se trata sólo de salvar el día, sino de un viaje de crecimiento. Aprende el valor de la verdadera amistad. ¿Liberará Lulu a Lex o llegarán las supermascotas a tiempo para detenerla? Tendrás que verlo para averiguarlo. Como extra, podemos ver una interacción entre Superman y Black Adam.
Mi Opinión
Gran película, si esta es la forma en que DC está comenzando su próxima fase de películas, no puedo esperar para el resto. La película estuvo bien animada y el contraste de colores estuvo bien, no fue como esas películas animadas de Netflix. Sin ofender a Netflix pero su animación apesta algunas veces. Quedé muy satisfecho con esta. Como dije antes, hay que disfrutar de cualquier película que Kevin Hart y Dwayne Johnson protagonicen, la sinergia es una locura y se disfruta de los diálogos cómicos entre ellos, siempre parece que Kevin quiere golpear a Dwayne.
La trama estuvo bien también, historia sencilla pero no puedo darles todo el crédito ya que parte de la trama se basó en el cómic. Yo no leí el cómic así que puedo decir que lo disfruté y todo fue nuevo para mí. No hubo realmente ningún giro, quizá sólo uno hacia el final, pero el resto de la trama fue bastante directa. Los actores de voz cumplieron con lo esperado. Otra cosa que fue divertida fue ver a DC haciendo referencias a Marvel al igual que Deadpool lo hace con DC. Ace hace un comentario sobre tener un martillo mágico, una referencia a Thor.
Los fans de las películas de superhéroes podrían tener un problema con esta película porque la liga de la justicia, las personas más poderosas del planeta fueron derrotadas por un grupo de conejillos de indias con superpoderes, pero de nuevo la película no era sobre ellos, así que no puedo decir mucho sobre esa parte. En general, fue una buena película, algo que toda la familia puede disfrutar. Cualquiera que la haya visto ya debería darle una calificación de 7-9/10, pero yo voy a quedarme con una calificación de 8/10. Definitivamente hay que darse el gusto de ver una buena película y ver la liga de super mascotas de DC.
