I saw the first trailer of the sand man a month ago and I have been waiting for the series to air. I binged watched the entire series when it came out about three days ago. I'm happy that they released the entire season one, not like how HBO did with the eighth season of game of thrones in 2019. I have to say, the movies and series coming out this month are really something to look forward to. We have She-hulk, House of Dragon, Prey and Luck, just to name a few. I believe Prey and Luck are out already, can't wait to see them too. The trailer was really good, they did not give out too much of the plot, only scenes they knew would draw the attention of people. The first time I had any idea of the Sandman was in the DreamWorks animated movie, "Rise of the guardians". He was a small glowing man in charge of dreams. He was the first of the guardians and controlled people's dreams using sand that floated over their head while they slept. The trailer of The Sandman portrayed him as a cosmic being that appeared in human form, wore all black and wore a helmet, completely different from his cartoon counter part. I would come to later learn that his name is Morpheus, the king of dreams.
This was the first time I saw Tom Sturridge(the actor that played the sand man) on the big screen or maybe I never just noticed him in any other movie before. He played the Sandman well, but I don't know what the Sandman behaves like so I can't tell if he nailed the character, but his acting was spot on. I think I need to do some reading to find out more about the Sandman. I heard the series was based off an old comic book so maybe I'll start from there. The series had a gothic setting, I'm a sucker for those kind of movies and books too. Magical creatures, cosmic beings, magic, those sort of things. I was very excited to see what they had set out for viewers.
The Sandman
Morpheus, the king of dreams, also known as the sandman is imprisoned by human who were looking to trap Death, his sibling.
They take his instrument, his sand, his helmet and a ruby. His absence in the universe causes chaos as some people around the world are unable to sleep, some can not wake up from their sleep. He escapes after a 100 years and set out to repair the damage that had been done to his realm, as well as the human realm. He doesn't have it easy, a lot has changed since he was imprisoned. He gets help from Johanna Constantine( who I believe is a decendant of the famous John Constantine but I'll have to do my research), Death, his sister and some other people who believe in his work. Together, they try to put an end to the nightmares that escaped to the human world after his imprisonment. Trying to find one of his tool that was stolen leads him to hell where he asks Lucifer for help.
On their quest for restoration, they learn of a dream vortex, a human with powers capable of destroying the dream realm for good. He tries to stop her whilst trying to save the world from the nightmares. Morpheus later discovers everything that happened to him, the nightmares escaping, his imprisonment, the dream vortex were part of the grand plan of a cosmic being (who's name I can't disclose now because it would just give away too much of the plot) who wants to see him gone for good. While trying to fix everything, Morpheus learns there is more to life than dreams. Does Morpheus restore order to both realms and put an end to the dream vortex? does he finally stop the nightmares? what happened between Lucifer and Morpheus when he went to hell? You'll just have to watch it to find out.
My Opinion
The first episode really draws you in. It tells the backstory of everything, Morpheus the king of dreams, his siblings, death, desire, destiny and despair and how they all have their realms they control. Just seeing the first episode will have anybody hooked. They continued to hold my attention in the second, third and fourth episode. I was really excited when Morpheus went to hell to face Lucifer. That was awesome, game of thrones fans are in for a surprise, guess who played Lucifer(you'll have to watch it to find out).
The actors did a good job too. I meant the graphics of the series, the editors and animators really did a good job. They added details to the mystical creatures and settings of the other realms. I love the general concept of the series. We've always perceived love, destiny, desire, as abstract beings but what if they manifested physically, in human forms, to walk the earth? They kind of lost me at some point, the story was deviating from the path they set when they added the "dream vortex" but I'm guessing I wasn't patient enough because they managed to put everything in place at the end. I did some research and it looks like it's going to be renewed for a second season and it should, given the kind of ending the Sandman had. We are going to see a lot more cosmic beings. The Sandman had everything, drama, action, adventure, suspense, even little bits of comedy. The series has really got me thinking alot, asking questions. Do we really exist alone or are there other plains, other dimensions of existence. Apart from the plot going off at one point, I'd say this is an excellent series, maybe one of the best of 2022 so far.

I had alot of replies. Most of them had the same opinion but they generally said it was a good series. The replies were much but I only made three screenshots because I didn't want to fill the whole place up with pictures. If you're looking for something new to watch, see the Sandman, you'll like it and it just has ten episodes so it won't take much of your time. I give it an 8.5/10.

Mi opinión
El primer episodio realmente te atrae. Cuenta la historia de fondo de todo, Morfeo, el rey de los sueños, sus hermanos, la muerte, el deseo, el destino y la desesperación, y cómo todos controlan sus reinos. Solo ver el primer episodio hará que cualquiera se enganche. Continuaron llamando mi atención en el segundo, tercer y cuarto episodio. Estaba muy emocionado cuando Morpheus fue al infierno para enfrentarse a Lucifer. Eso fue increíble, los fans de Game of Thrones se van a llevar una sorpresa, adivina quién interpretó a Lucifer (tendrás que verlo para descubrirlo).
Los actores también hicieron un buen trabajo. Me refiero a los gráficos de la serie, los editores y animadores realmente hicieron un buen trabajo. Agregaron detalles a las criaturas místicas y escenarios de los otros reinos. Me encanta el concepto general de la serie. Siempre hemos percibido el amor, el destino, el deseo, como seres abstractos pero ¿y si se manifestaran físicamente, en formas humanas, para caminar por la tierra? Me perdieron en algún momento, la historia se estaba desviando del camino que establecieron cuando agregaron el "vórtice de los sueños", pero supongo que no fui lo suficientemente paciente porque lograron poner todo en su lugar al final. Investigué un poco y parece que se renovará para una segunda temporada y debería, dado el tipo de final que tuvo Sandman. Vamos a ver muchos más seres cósmicos.
The Sandman lo tenía todo, drama, acción, aventura, suspenso, incluso pequeños fragmentos de comedia. La serie realmente me ha hecho pensar mucho, haciéndome preguntas. ¿Realmente existimos solos o existen otros planos, otras dimensiones de la existencia? Aparte de que la trama se dispara en un punto, diría que esta es una serie excelente, quizás una de las mejores de 2022 hasta ahora. Le pregunté a algunas personas en mi cuenta comercial de WhatsApp qué pensaban sobre la película y esto fue lo que dijeron.

Tuve muchas respuestas. La mayoría tenía la misma opinión pero en general decían que era una buena serie. Las respuestas fueron muchas, pero solo hice tres capturas de pantalla porque no quería llenar todo el lugar con imágenes. Si está buscando algo nuevo para ver, vea Sandman, le gustará y solo tiene diez episodios, por lo que no le llevará mucho tiempo. Le doy un 8,5/10.
