I start from this because this film evokes those principles in a deep and interesting way, it makes a small account of what happened and how we got to that point through a transcendental moment of the past. This film is not a documentary, much less a biography, it is a plot that dives into various aspects that put the mind to consider how expressive and deadly that reality was.

It would be naive of me to assert that slavery does not exist today, but unfortunately it pre-exists in the submerged world and in nations with precarious economic models (in general terms it has changed or mutated); but still seeing such scenes in a defragmented USA generates a perception of what is abominable and must always be reproached.

In this century we discuss whether we should have more democracy or seek that ephemeral thing called equality; but this is really flimsy. What we must protect in a latent way is Freedom, and I say this with responsibility, I live in a country where it is repeatedly restricted. La realidad es que uno de los más grandes males de la humanidad es esa preponderancia de las hegemonías, las superioridades y lo que propone la disolución de los mismos valores que nos identifican como personas. Esto se percibe de una forma tan marcada en este film, esa crueldad, es tan déspota que el cerebro debe asimilarla porque en realidad esto es un pequeño reflejo de lo que en verdad sucedió y fue abominable.
What are the Strongest Arguments? | ¿Cuáles son los Argumentos más Fuertes?
Well, the word with which I started this review: Freedom, that desire to not be tied to another person and not be treated as a waste. What is freedom? It is many things! It is to be able to express yourself, to be able to do what you want, to be able to have equality before the law and above all to decide your path, that is, it is everything. You can be born, but if there is no freedom, there is no purpose: You can also see that inside the film when every lash brushes every part of the bodies of those held by what they claim to be the best for the welfare of the world.
Pues, la palabra con la que empecé esta review: Libertad, ese deseo de no estar atado a otra persona y no ser tratado como un despojo o desecho. ¿Qué es la libertad? ¡Es muchas cosas! Politics also plays a subtle role within the film, leaving a marked visualization of the positions of the Confederates (now Democrats) regarding the hegemonic maintenance of slavery, while the Federals (now Republicans) maintain the unrestricted bond of freedom and the fundamental charter of the union.

A marked point was the discussion between two terms: Federation and confederation within the plot. Today confederations are practically non-existent, with exceptions such as Switzerland, both administrative models are interesting, the winning side was the one that supported the unrestricted concept to defend freedom in reality. This part is one of the parts I liked the most, because it marks a before and after in the United States of America.

Hoy día prácticamente las confederaciones son inexistentes, por excepciones como Suiza, ambos modelos administrativos son interesantes, el lado ganador fue el que apoyo el concepto irrestricto para defender la libertad en la realidad. What is the Plot? | ¿Cuál es la Trama?
Peter is a slave in one of the secessionist states of the US union, i.e. Louisiana. This man always maintains an unrestricted attachment to God, while not deciding in any way about his freedom. One of the most impressive things is the plantation where he must do all kinds of infamous jobs. The setting of this scenario is totally overwhelming, detached human body parts, whippings, cruel murders of people, and the most abhorrent treatment.

Este hombre siempre mantiene un irrestricto apego a Dios, mientras no decide en ningún tipo de aspecto sobre su libertad. La ambientación de este escenario es totalmente abrumadora, partes de cuerpos humanos desprendidos, latigazos, asesinatos crueles de personas, y los tratos más aborrecibles.
This film also sends an argument to consumers: Remember that this happened, the freedom that exists today was because of the loss of many lives.

I think Antoine Fuqua's direction is splendid. Emancipation is not just anything, it is the expressive tip of a transcendental moment in American politics, and not only that, one that set a precedent in the Western world, and to represent it in this way was truly overwhelming.

Something I can't deny is that the center of the film is focused solely on Peter's dialogues, a role that Will Smith evidently played amazingly, is that to be exact you connect with the character, with his pain, with his desire to continue, to oppose and resist to obtain the most precious immaterial good of a person: Freedom.
Algo que no puedo negar es que el centro de la película está enfocado únicamente en los diálogos de Peter, papel que Will Smith interpretó sorprendentemente, es que para ser exacto conectas con el personaje, con su dolor, con sus ganas de seguir, de oponerse y resistir para obtener el bien inmaterial más preciado de una persona: Libertad.
Something that is also very surprising is the shooting tonality of the production, it is unique because of the perception it conveys. It is not totally black and white, neither is it in color, that is to say, it is a mixture with the contrast and the brightness of each of the images in the filming. As for, the war the point was enigmatic, and strong, you really felt the tension, but the obvious is that the story needed a little more punch or something to intertwine the Federalist and Confederate arguments, as it happened in real life, this part had a lot of subtlety.

Will Smith, was the center of everything for his role as Peter, a magnificent and exemplary performance, I have been amazed with it; however, it generates an imbalance with other memorable points or endings that should have been argued a little more.

This is a film worth enjoying, it particularly makes you rewind and intertwine it with the history of your own country, in my case Venezuela. Here slavery was abolished in 1854, it was the first country to do so in the entire globe, while in the United States emancipation came on January 1, 1963.
Este es un film que vale la pena disfrutar, particularmente te hace rebobinar y entrelazarlo con la propia historia de tu país, en mi caso con la de Venezuela. Acá se abolió la esclavitud en 1854, fue el primer país en hacerlo en todo el globo terráqueo mientras tanto en toda la unión de los EEUU la emancipación llegó el primero de enero de 1963.
Venezuela officially founded its first constitution with a confederate model that lasted only 1 year in 1811, it went to a centralist model and then the civil war gave way to the Federation, one that lasted almost 100 years and returned to the voracious centralism. In the US union since 1776 there were discussions about federalization and confederation, the former won on the grounds of the principles of liberty as this film outlines. This is a thoughtful point and also one that can be imagined through each of the scenes.
Algo también que pude comparar fueron los modelos estatales, Venezuela oficialmente fundo su primera constitución con un modelo confederado que duro solamente 1 año en 1811, paso a un modelo centralista y luego la guerra civil dio paso a la Federación, una que duro casi 100 años y volvió al voraz centralismo. En la unión de los EEUU desde 1776 se discutía sobre la federalización y la confederación, la primera ganó en razón de los principios de libertad como esboza esta película. Esto es un punto reflexivo y además que se puede imaginar por medio de cada una de las escenas.
The coldness that is demarcated in every minute, the will to live and the position of wanting to fight for something, something transcendental, is what has managed to be captured in this film that makes your skin crawl: the freedom that we all must protect.
La frialdad que se ve demarcada dentro de cada minuto, las ganas de vivir y la posición de querer luchar por algo, ese algo trascendental es lo que ha logrado quedar plasmado dentro de este film que eriza la piel: La libertad que todos debemos proteger.

En estos tiempos tan oscuros para algunos paises en los cuales ese concepto de lo que se podria definir como libertad, tristemente no tiene peso o se desconoce del todo, me gusto como comenzaste teniendo como derivado tal concepto y luego lo traspusiste ante lo que se muestra en el film, es muy interesante, saludos.

Es verdad no se puede negar que hoy no exista la esclavitud, hay muchas formas en las que se manifiesta, no necesariamente debe ser física. Por ejemplo cuando los medios de comunicación inciden en nuestra manera de pensar por años, no estamos siendo libres, hay algo que ya han introducido en nuestra cabeza y la creemos cierta, somos libres? No.
Que bien que la vistes, es muy buena la verdad, como dices, el papel de Will Smitt fue impecable, el centro de toda la historia, y el tema de la libertad, esa que muchos añoramos, sobre todo en nuestro país, en todos los sentidos, sin duda una gran película, me gusto tu reseña, un gusto leerte, saludos.
Que acertado de tu parte iniciar la publicación hablando de libertad, una condición que históricamente parecería que hemos alcanzado tras el sufrimiento de muchos, pero que cada día se ve más vulnerada y violentada. Ahora, lo paradójico de todo es que perseguimos la libertad incansablemente, creemos defenderla a capa y espada, y muchas veces nos encontramos con un sector que elije tener la soga al cuello por conveniencia o miedo de tomar las riendas de su propio destino.
No he tenido la oportunidad de ver este film, pero sin duda lo tendré presente, es un tema que despierta el debate de ideas, conceptos y creencias.
Todavía estoy con problemas de conexión y no he podido ver esta producción. Es un tema que me gusta, porque lamentablemente es un problema que hoy día se viven las consecuencias de todo el periodo esclavitud en Norteamérica. Aunque la esclavitud fue abolida, vinieron los otros males, que han dejado muchas cicatrices en esa sociedad, donde han ocurrido estallidos de violencia cada cierto tiempo, ante la injusticia contra las personas pro determinado color de piel, se negro en ese país ya es de por si un estigma y es mas propenso a entrar desde joven a un sistema judicial que parece diseñado para destruirlos.
Por cierto hoy me respondieron una barbaridad aun comentario sobre la masacre sistemática y planificada de los americanos contra la población indígena de ese país y para mi que se creen el cuento del chavismo de que los españoles fueron mas malvados que los ingleses, cuando nosotros existimos porque somos una mezcla de españoles , indígenas y negros. Algo que no ocurrió en América, allá no se ve esa mezcla que si se ve en nuestros países. Por supuesto que los colonizadores españoles cometieron hechos atroces, especialmente en las zonas de Bolivia, Perú y Ecuador, peor incluso tu lo has dicho, en nuestro país se abolió la esclavitud mucho antes que en el norte.
Los ingleses tenían un negocio con la esclavitud, existía una asociación de comercio marítimo muy influyente, que se encargaba de secuestrar agente de áfrica, para comerciar con portugueses, franceses y españoles y vender esclavos. Incluso, los que trajeron a nuestro país, fue porque necesitaban mano de obra fuerte y donde se vieron cosas mas horrendas con los esclavos fue en Brasil, colonizados por portugueses. Pero para los izquierdistas eso no es real, fueron los españoles mas malvados que los ingleses.
This movie reminds me a lot of movies like the brave, of those in which we learn about slavery and the desire for freedom, these movies for me are usually very depressing, as it gives me pain to see how these movies show us what life was like before, the slaves and millionaires who did what they wanted with their slaves.
