Debido a que esta serie se encuentra disponible únicamente en la plataforma de streaming Apple TV+, la cual no es tan popular como otras alternativas entre las que destacan Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+ y Amazon Prime Video, su número de fanáticos no es tan amplio, ya que no es tan conocida por quienes no están suscritos a este servicio de televisión en línea. Sin embargo, la calidad tanto de su argumentación, como de su estética y de las actuaciones de quienes constituyen el reparto es bastante alta, de hecho, Wall Street Journal estima que se ha invertido un aproximado de 15 millones de dólares en la producción de cada uno de sus episodios, de modo que esta es una de las grandes apuestas con las que la plataforma de la manzana mordida viene adentrándose a la pelea por un lugar entre las principales opciones en el ámbito de la TV por suscripción.
La principal carta de presentación de la serie See, es contar como protagonista principal con Jason Momoa, quien es una gran estrella de Hollywood actualmente, con roles estelares en blockbusters como Aquaman y Dune, el rol le viene a este actor como anillo al dedo, debido a su imponente físico, ya que Baba Voss, que es como se llama este personaje, es un guerrero de gran tamaño y fortaleza. Sin embargo, lo que hace original y muy interesante a esta historia, es su particular premisa, pues nos relata los acontesimientos ocurridos en un futuro distópico, en el cual la especie humana ha perdido el sentido de la visión, es decir que casi todas las personas en el mundo son siegas de nacimiento y, por lo tanto, las maneras en que los individuos interactúan entre sí, es diferente a la de una sociedad con visión tal como la conocemos en el mundo real.

Una característica particular de la serie, es que aun cuando se ambienta en una época futura, de la que por cierto no se tiene precisión en cuanto al año al que corresponde, la estética del vestuario que emplea, el armamento utilizado en las constantes batallas que se presentan y la estructura social de la civilización que está organizada en reinos y tribus, parece más bien corresponder a épocas medievales, dándole un estilo épico similar al de programas como Juego de Tronos o Vikingos, en lugar de parecerse a producciones del género de la ciencia ficción en las que se muestran tecnologías futuristas y culturas avanzadas. En este mundo distópico, la civilización ha sufrido una significativa involución y eso se refleja claramente en su comportamiento y vestimenta.
El eje central de la trama gira en torno a una pareja de mellizos, Kofun y Haniwa, que nacen con el extraordinario don de la visión y son perseguidos por el ejército de “busca brujos” enviado por la gobernante Sibeth Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) del Reino Payan, para capturar a un hombre con visión llamado Jerlamarel (Joshua Henry), que es el padre biológico de estos niños. Sin embargo, aun antes de haber dado a luz a los bebés, Maghra (Hera Hilmar), la mujer embarazada por este fugitivo acusado de brujería, había llegado a la Tribu Alkenny y establecido una relación de pareja con el líder de esa comunidad, quien es el experimentado guerrero Baba Voss (Jason Momoa), por lo que este se convierte en el gran protector de los niños desde el momento de su nacimiento.

A particular characteristic of the series is that even when it is set in a future era, of which by the way there is no precision as to the year to which it corresponds, the aesthetics of the costumes it uses, the weapons used in the constant battles that are presented and the social structure of the civilization that is organized in kingdoms and tribes, seems rather to correspond to medieval times, giving it an epic style similar to that of programs such as Game of Thrones or Vikings, instead of resembling productions of the genre of the science fiction in which futuristic technologies and advanced cultures are shown. In this dystopian world, civilization has undergone a significant involution and this is clearly reflected in their behavior and clothing.
The central axis of the plot revolves around a pair of twins, Kofun and Haniwa, who are born with the extraordinary gift of vision and are persecuted by the army of "sorcerers" sent by the ruler Sibeth Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) of the Payan Kingdom, to capture a sighted man named Jerlamarel (Joshua Henry), who is the biological father of these children. La serie está catalogada como un drama, ya que su trama está llena de momentos emotivos y presenta especial enfoque en el amor de un padre protector hacia sus hijos, aun cuando estos no llevan la sangre de este hombre corriendo por sus venas, pero ha sido él el único padre, junto a la madre, que han conocido y quien siempre lo ha dado todo para protegerlos. También la historia nos cuenta el desarrollo de estos hermanos, que poseen la capacidad de ver en un mundo en el que la audición y el tacto son los sentidos predominantes, con todo lo que ello conlleva. Haniwa (Nesta Cooper) y Kofun (Archie Madekwe) deben ocultar que poseen visión y decidir que uso darle a esa ventaja de la que disponen frente a otros individuos.
Algo que me llamó mucho la atención de esta serie, es el modo en que representan a las personas invidentes, pues sus creadores imaginaron el comportamiento de una sociedad en la que no exista la visión y establecieron formas muy ingeniosas para que estas personas se desenvuelvan sin mayores problemas, incluso al punto de que la visión no constituya una necesidad muy grande para ellos. Se nos muestra como es que personas que toda su vida se han desempeñado sin visión, tomando en cuenta que esto además ha ocurrido durante varias generaciones, pueden hacer algunas cosas aún mejor que como las haría alguien que pueda ver. De hecho, el don de la visión puede llegar a constituir una gran desventaja en determinadas circunstancias.

Something that caught my attention in this series is the way in which blind people are represented, since its creators imagined the behavior of a society in which vision does not exist and established very ingenious ways for these people to function without major problems, even to the point where vision is not a very great need for them. We are shown how it is that people who have performed without vision all their lives, taking into account that this has also happened for several generations, can do some things even better than someone who can see. In fact, the gift of vision can be a great disadvantage in certain circumstances.
Si bien, efectivamente este es un drama de ficción distópica, no debe dejarse de lado su carácter épico y de acción, ya que el nivel de violencia gráfica y gore del que hace alarde es bastante elevado, las batallas son sangrientas y están muy bien coreografiadas. De hecho, constituyen uno de los elementos más disfrutables de la serie, pero a la vez su crudeza puede llegar a ser perturbadora para quienes estén esperando algo más ligero. See no es el tipo de drama distópico de por ejemplo El Cuento de la Criada (otra serie que recomiendo), acá la acción es constante y explícita, los enfrentamientos suelen llevarse a cabo mediante el uso de espadas, hachas y todo tipo de armas cortantes; las armas de fuego no son comunes, aunque si existen entre las cosas que aún permanecen de la época en que los antiguos podían ver y crearon todas las maquinarias que en el mundo real conocemos.
Hasta ahora la serie consta de dos temporadas, cada una de ellas de solo 8 episodios. Aunque ya la tercera temporada culminó su rodaje, se encuentra todavía en post producción y no se tiene una fecha oficial para su estreno, aunque con casi toda seguridad llegará este mismo año 2022 a la plataforma de Apple TV+. Mi apreciación particular es que la serie es genial, la primera temporada me gustó mucho y la segunda aún más, pues en esta se introdujo al actor Dave Bautista interpretando a Edo Voss, el gran antagonista de la temporada y hermano de Baba Voss. La presencia de este corpulento personaje, resultó muy intimidante, creando un excelente contrapeso ante el protagonista, además la trama estuvo muy bien elaborada y la batalla final en el último episodio fue magnífica.
En general la serie me parece muy original y emocionante, la historia quizá no sea muy elaborada en cuanto a subtramas y giros argumentales, pero tiene pocos baches y es bastante coherente. Las actuaciones creo que son correctas, el personaje de la reina Kane me encanta, es despreciable y desquiciada, pero a la vez inteligente y calculadora, tiene una forma muy particular de hablar y ni mencionar su manera de rezar, sin duda su presencia le da un extra a la historia. Los jóvenes que representan a los mellizos, también lo hacen bien, al igual que todo el reparto, donde Jason Momoa hace un gran trabajo. En cuanto a Dave Bautista en la segunda temporada, aun cuando su rol no presenta un reto actoral demasiado grande, creo que es una de sus mejores actuaciones.
Para finalizar, mi calificación para la serie See es de 9.0 / 10.

In fact, they constitute one of the most enjoyable elements of the series, but at the same time their crudeness can be disturbing for those who are expecting something lighter. See is not the kind of dystopian drama of, for example, The Handmaid's Tale (another series that I recommend), here the action is constant and explicit, the confrontations are usually carried out through the use of swords, axes and all kinds of cutting weapons ; firearms are not common, although they do exist among the things that still remain from the time when the ancients could see and created all the machinery that we know in the real world.
So far the series consists of two seasons, each of them only 8 episodes. Although the third season has already finished filming, it is still in post-production and there is no official date for its premiere, although it will almost certainly arrive this year 2022 on the Apple TV + platform. My particular appreciation is that the series is great, I liked the first season a lot and the second even more, because in this one the actor Dave Bautista was introduced playing Edo Voss, the great antagonist of the season and brother of Baba Voss. The presence of this corpulent character was very intimidating, creating an excellent counterweight to the protagonist, in addition the plot was very well elaborated and the final battle in the last episode was magnificent.
In general, I find the series very original and exciting, the story may not be very elaborate in terms of subplots and plot twists, but it has few bumps and is quite coherent. I think the performances are correct, I love the character of Queen Kane, she is despicable and crazy, but at the same time intelligent and calculating, she has a very particular way of speaking and not to mention her way of praying, without a doubt her presence gives her an addition to the story. The young people who represent the twins also do well, as does the entire cast, where Jason Momoa does a great job. As for Dave Bautista in the second season, even though his role does not present too great an acting challenge, I think it is one of his best performances.
