Hellboy, Interesting Visual Effects but Fails to Create a Narrative

Review by @nnurdiani · 1454d · of Hellboy

Have you ever come across a half-demon half-human? In Indonesia there is a story about a half demon who lives on the island of Maritua, Indonesia. Well, recently there was a film with a half-demon. The main character's name is hellboy (half-demon character) who faces a threat to human life

Sonopsys

The film, which is set in World War 2, tells the story of a Nazi who conducts experiments to extract power from hell named Rasputin. However, the experiment had to be discontinued due to a change in leadership. However, from the latest experiment emerged a half demon named Hellboy. Hellboy's presence makes the human group split into two. Someone protect and exterminate Hellboy

Failed to maximize narrative

The film won the Saturn Award for Best Makeup. in fact, the film was nominated for many of these awards. Even so this film is considered less attractive and failed. The film, starring David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian Mc Shane and Michael Heath, has an interesting narrative potential but fails to be maximized.

As for the plot, this film has unlimited potential. However, Neil Marshal as the director did not take advantage of this. There is a bit of a story about the film's early flashbacks. The cunning magician that Milla Jovovich couldn't kill King Arthur. King Arthur cut off the nimue's body parts and hid them all over the world.

Too fast flow and Too much information

Actually, the main acting role is David harbor as hellboy is very interesting in this film. However, the storyline in this film is too fast. There are many scenes that can be extracted, but missed. Everything becomes chaff and becomes a forgotten story. Likewise with the heroes who are not able to dazzle in this film. The character of the hell child is not able to blow the audience's mind. The ending of this film, in my opinion, is anticlimactic. When the protagonist has to face the leading villain

Very annoying sensor

At the beginning of the film, Hellboy has a hard time. A number of interesting scenes had to be diverted by the censors. There is censorship filtering for five minutes during this film. The scene was a beheading, a body being stabbed, until the scene was bathed in blood. This film has a rating of 17+. The sensor in my opinion is quite disturbed. While the battle was fierce, I didn't find anything particularly fantastic. When this battle moment was the moment that the crowd had been waiting for.

An Unsuccessful Mix of Action, Humor and Horror

In this film, the director wants to show action, comedy, and honor. However, in this film the director could not deliver it. David only managed to play an interesting and exciting dialogue. However, the whole hellboy movie becomes an unattractive film. In this film, the thread that wants to be lifted does not become the climax. A number of acts of brutality were also there, then the visual effects were so interesting, everything felt empty. Because the film's censorship is too brutal. It really annoys the audience.

Final Review

From the visual effects and make up in this film is very interesting. However, some of the censorship in this film is very disturbing. And these scenes do not climax to the audience. You will not be disappointed watching this film because the visual effects are very interesting. I was very impressed with the visual effects in this film.

I must admit that this was one of my favorite movies to see since I saw the premiere in theaters, the truth is that today I see it again and there are certain deficiencies in terms of the development of certain characters and even the story itself. I agree with your opinion even so at least you could see the movie which makes me happy.

    greetings happy week
