1. ›'Hellboy' by Guillermo del Toro Review: It isn't too bad, but perhaps too dark@namiks697d

   

   I'm really not a fan of Guillermo del Toro as a director. While I enjoy his love for the horror genre, and the creative monsters that are often found within it, I feel he's a filmmaker that just isn't that good. He has a few decent creations here and there, but many of them are missing something. As if the filmmaker never really managed to grow beyond the standards of the 90s and early 2000s. He's a filmmaker that managed to luck out in an era that didn't care much for generally cheesy titles, but never escaped that area of film. I tried to watch the anthology series he worked on recently, to which I couldn't finish it and found it drastically lacking. I did enjoy The Shape of Water, which was a unique story even for 2017. But since then the director seems as if he's in limbo, with his most popular and frequent works being now a few decades behind. I'm not sure what leads him to create the more low budget side of things that is riddled with problems. There's certainly a market for the stronger horror side of things, but he doesn't seem to be doing much with it aside from stacking his museum with figurines and statues. I think I could grow eventually to like his films, but that'd require the director to excel beyond the norm of what he typically creates. Pacific Rim was a disappointment, despite its cool moments. What happened to the style he had decades prior?

   It seems the director moved too far into the world of animation, sticking to a few franchises he created. Abandoning the film world and alienating a lot of his audience in the pursuit of a more child oriented demographic. I think of the ways in which superhero films were made in the past, the more gritty look they had. Still very close to their worlds within the comic books, but still quite serious and created for an older demographic. Things felt darker, with more action and more serious stories. And Hellboy is one that came about in 2004, sticking rather true to its initial comic book story with a few changes here and there. It was a surprise to see a film that did stick more true to its source material. I think of a similar smaller character like Blade which was also known for being a bit more serious and darker. A film that had its fair share of comedy while also being full of action. I became curious over the Hellboy films given I couldn't remember the last time I saw them, and I was fascinated over the fact that despite the heavy comic book reliance Hollywood has had for the past decade and a half, Hellboy has been a character that has been left in the dark. Utterly abandoned and with very few and terrible attempts to revive the character. Certainly not given much attention.

   Now, I'm not fan of comic book titles. But I am willing to give them a chance if I feel they're good and the characters are actually interesting. So hey, I decided to revisit Hellboy from 2004.

   Hellboy

   

   This Hellboy sets itself up with the introduction of Hellboy as a character. A strange Nazi experiment during the Second World War leads to the opening of a portal to which the Nazis aim to utilise the power of the underworld against their rivals. Things go south for them as the plot is ruined, though with the brief moments in which that portal remained open, a strange demonic humanoid child is released into the world, discovered by the west and raised in secret with some top secret programs. The film gives a bit of a time skip in which we finally see Hellboy as a adult, shredded and chugging away at a cigar. Though the film states that he ages like the opposite of a dog, so despite his appearance he's only really in his 20s. Our side character to introduce all of this is a human assigned to Hellboy and these programs, almost to serve a sidekick while being some of the plot's tool to connect some of the human world and the underworld's creations. We already see that there are more to this world than Hellboy, which I think is a good introduction that serves to open the door to more of the fantasy elements. The first half an hour of the film does feel like a slog of exposition to set things up, showcasing some of the bad guys, your typical over the top Nazi designs and such.

   Guillermo del Toro's directing is pretty much the same as it always is: incredibly dark scenes in which sometimes it's hard to really know what's going on. The scenes which are meant to detail characters with unique features and designs are often a little too dark to really appreciate, though I suspect this comes from the 2004 time period in which the budget for such a film would be quite low, and keeping things relatively dark or under rain doesn't just serve as atmosphere for the more gritty tone of the film and its themes, but contributes to the hiding of the more cheaper side of the set and costume design. Ideally we'd get a film in which the designs are really displayed and given the correct lighting to show them off, but I can understand why such decisions would've been made. Especially to maintain the darker ambience of the film. After all, it is about a demon child (now adult) from Hell. Comic book films of this era tended to suffer from being a bit too dark, but del Toro is pretty much known for going a bit overboard with it, partially this is why I struggle to find enjoyment in much of his directing.

   While the action scenes are well-choreographed, the film has that older action film silliness to it that we seem to have escaped. There's some soul in this given how silly certain things can look. This can be the way a character is introduced, made to give them a cooler look, making them seem more threatening. Usually this is done with comically dumb gestures and poses from those characters, as well as directing that gives them more unique perspectives. It has a bit more of a video game sort of look to it in that regard, but I don't really mind it much. It does speak of another era in action films, but I prefer when they're like this rather than going all-out serious with no imperfections. And this film often has those imperfections, those little moments where you notice how something is off, some poor extras that don't perform all that well or just cheap looking sets. But in the special effects side of things the film is pretty good for its age. The monsters and action scenes are done quite well, and Ron Perlman as Hellboy strangely works. A more raspy voice, blocky-shaped head. It fits the character decently. And one thing I think the film does fairly well but could be better is that sense of scale of Hellboy. There's definitely room for improvement in comparing him to humans, but some aspects of the design do make him look like a huge red thing sent from the depths of Hell.

   Hello movie lovers. Today I want to talk to you about an action and fantasy movie that ended up becoming one of the best works of the famous and incredible genius and director, Guillermo Del Toro. Based on the original comic book by Mike Mignola, the film by the Mexican director and screenwriter is one of the most acclaimed and well known, despite not having grossed more than twice its budget, worldwide. The excellent performance of the great Ron Perlman as the protagonist brought him to stardom at the beginning of the second millennium. A work that ended up becoming an important icon of the genre and culture.

El día de hoy les quiero hablar de una película de acción y fantasía que terminó convirtiéndose en una de las mejores obras del famoso e increíble genio y director, Guillermo Del Toro. Basada en el cómic original de Mike Mignola, la cinta del mexicano director y guionista es de las más aclamadas y conocidas, a pesar de no haber tenido una recaudación mayor al doble de su presupuesto, a nivel mundial. La excelente interpretación del gran Ron Perlman como protagonista lo llevó al estrellato a principios del segundo milenio.    Plot

   The film opens at the time of World War II, in Scotland, where a group of military commanded by a silent and very dangerous Nazi general protect a Russian mystic named Grigori Rasputin, who along with his dangerous and skilled henchmen plan to bring "the end" to the world, bringing a divine being from an alternate dimension by means of a complex and powerful equipment. A team of U.S. military personnel, accompanied by a professor and expert in the paranormal and black magic, approach with caution seeking to put an end to Rasputin's evil attempts to bring chaos to the world.

   After the portal was closed and Rasputin's plans were obstructed, our professor Trevor Bruttenholm decides to search the surrounding area for signs of a being that has passed through the portal into this world. In a cave they come across a kind of red child with horns and a tail and a stone arm, which turns out to be a demon. Trevor, instead of letting the military kill him, decides to take care of him and raise him as his own son, along with the U.S. Army. This being ends up being called "Hellboy", which will become a member of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense.

   Luego de que el portal fuese cerrado y los planes de Rasputín fueran obstruidos, nuestro profesor Trevor Bruttenholm decide buscar a los alrededores del lugar señales de algún ser que haya pasado el portal hacia este mundo. En una cueva ellos se topan con una especie de niño rojo con cuernos y cola y con un brazo de piedra, el cual termina siendo un demonio. Trevor, en vez de dejar que los militares lo matasen, decide cuidarlo y criarlo como su propio hijo, junto con el ejército estadounidense. Este ser termina llamándose “Hellboy”, el cual se convertirá en miembro del Departamento de Investigación y Defensa de lo Paranormal.

   This is one of those movies I watched a thousand times when I was a kid. Its mix of action with science fiction and fantasy in the darkest style that exists makes it a cinematographic work that is well worth watching and remembering. This one in particular marked a big part of my life, with an incredible story and characters. And it's certainly one of the first cinematic universes that deserve to be remembered for how excellently made they are. And in terms of visual effects, CGI, soundtrack and makeup it is one of the best that has been seen in these last two decades in cinemas.

   Regarding the story we are told, it has a curious mix of mystery, dark fantasy and a touch of romance that gives the film that bittersweet tone. The relationship of the characters, the development they don't show of each one, the way they act and the different scenes, monologues and battles that this film has is one of the best. And what is more important, the action that this film brings us is impressive, making the protagonist a kind of "hero", but out of hell itself. With emotions, thoughts and ideals that make the story move forward in a pleasant way.

   Esta es una de esas películas que veía una y mil veces cuando era pequeño. Si mezcla de acción con ciencia ficción y fantasía del estilo más oscuro que existe lo hace una obra cinematográfica que vale mucho la pena ver y recordar. Este en particular marcó gran parte de mi vida, con una historia y personajes increíbles. Y sin duda es uno de los primeros universos cinematográficos que merecen ser recordados por lo excelentemente hechos que están. Y en cuanto a efectos visuales, CGI, banda sonora y maquillaje es de lo mejor que se ha visto en estas últimas dos décadas en cines.

   Con respecto a la historia que nos cuentan, tiene una curiosa mezcla de misterio, fantasía oscura y un toque de romance que le da ese tono agridulce a la película. La relación de los personajes, el desarrollo que no muestran de cada uno, la forma de actuar y las diferentes escenas, monólogos y batallas que tiene esta cinta es de lo mejor. Y lo que es más importante, la acción que nos trae dicha película es impresionante, haciendo del protagonista una especie de “héroe”, pero salido del mismo infierno. Con emociones, pensamientos e ideales que hacen que la historia avance de una forma agradable.

   Ron Perlman gives an excellent interpretation of the giant red demon, giving him the personality of a rebellious boy in love who does not follow orders and does whatever he wants, but with the detail of being a demon over 60 years old and with superhuman strength. The development of this character is very noticeable from beginning to end, which makes it easy to become familiar with him and feel the same way he feels, even though he seems to be the same one out of hell. The way of giving personality to fantastic creatures is also very noticeable in this movie, just as the genius of Guillermo Del Toro knows how to do very well.

   Finally, I want to highlight both the incredible work of special effects, CGI and sound that the film has, as well as the same monsters and beings that we see throughout the film. Beings that make you regret that this work was inspired by the genius of the great Lovecraft. The theme of the chaos gods, the interdimensional monsters, the mystics and immortals and the very secret and origin of the main character, Hellboy, are completely impressive characters. A total marvel that is evident that it would become a cult of the same dark fantasy genre and popular culture.

   Personally, I give it a well-deserved 9/10 rating for the action, dark fantasy and sci-fi genre.

   Ron Perlman realiza una excelente interpretación del gigante demonio rojo, dándole esa personalidad de chico rebelde y enamorado que no acata órdenes y hace lo que le da la gana, pero con el detalle de ser un demonio de más de 60 años de edad y con una fuerza sobrehumana. El desarrollo de este personaje es muy notorio de inicio a fin, lo cual hace que fácilmente uno se familiarice con él y sienta lo mismo que él siente, a pesar de parecer ser el mismo salido del infierno. La forma de darle personalidad a criaturas fantásticas es también muy notable en esta película, tal y como el genio de Guillermo Del Toro sabe hacer muy bien.

   Por último, quiero destacar tanto el increíble trabajo de efectos especiales, CGI y de sonido que tiene la película, así como también los mismos monstruos y seres que vemos a lo largo de la película. Seres que te hacen pesar que dicha obra fue inspirada de la genialidad del gran Lovecraft. El tema de los dioses del caos, los monstruos interdimensionales, los místicos e inmortales y el mismo secreto y origen del personaje principal, Hellboy, son personajes completamente impresionantes. Una maravilla total que es evidente que se convirtiera en un culto del mismo género de fantasía oscura y de la cultura popular.

   Personalmente, le doy una merecida calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción, fantasía oscura y ciencia ficción.

   For the most part, today's audiences associate superhero films with Marvel Comics and DC Comics. However, in the past, Hollywood sought out more diverse and "exotic" material from comic books, such as those published by Dark Horse Comics. One notable example of this is the 2004 film Hellboy, written and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

   Hellboy is based on the comic book series created by Mark Mignola in 1994. The plot follows the story of a demonic creature, Hellboy, who was summoned to Earth as a baby by Nazi occultists before the end of the World War II in an attempt to alter the losing conflict. The plan was foiled by Allied soldiers, while the baby was adopted by Professor Trevor “Broom” Brutenholm (played by Kevin Trainor). Decades later Hellboy (played by Ron Perrlman) works for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, using his supernatural abilities to fight other demons and similar creatures. Young agent John Myers (played by Rupert Evans) is sent to become the part of Hellboy’s team which, under the guidance of elderly and mortally ill Broom (played by John Hurt) must try to stop Nazis from summoning powerful demons that could bring apocalypse. His efforts are complicated by feelings he has developed for Liz Sherman (played by Selma Blair), pyrokinetic who is part of his team.

   Del Toro was drawn to the film because of the unconventional protagonist, Hellboy, who appears as a grotesque monster but is a hero at heart. Ron Perlman, known mostly for supporting yet impressive roles, uses rare opportunity to star in the film and brings Hellboy to life with his powerful physical presence and memorable performance. Despite his monstrous appearance, Hellboy is a relatable character with a strong sense of justice and a dry wit.

   Unfortunately, del Toro is less successful with the rest of the cast. The characters, aside from Hellboy, are one-dimensional and forgettable, even with the talents of veteran actors like John Hurt. The romantic rival, played by Rupert Evans, and the pyrokinetic, played by Selma Blair, feel like afterthoughts rather than fully realized characters. One exception to this is Abe Sapien, an amphibian humanoid creature played by Doug Jones and voiced by David Hyde Pierce. Abe is a fascinating character who shares similarities with the creature from del Toro's 2017 Oscar-winning film, The Shape of Water.

   The villains in Hellboy are a mishmash of demons, Nazis, and the historical figure Grigori Rasputin, played by Czech actor Karel Roden. While this may be seen as a sensationalist view of history, it is not the film's intention to be a historically accurate portrayal. For the most part, this flaw can be forgiven by the audience.

   Del Toro's direction is solid, with a series of competently directed and mostly impressive action scenes that blend spectacle with humor. The film's visual effects and creature designs are top-notch, and the practical effects work is particularly noteworthy.

   Hellboy was a commercial success, leading to a sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, in 2008. However, del Toro was unable to complete a third film in the series. Instead, the series was rebooted in 2019 with a new Hellboy film directed by Neil Marshall and starring David Harbour. Unfortunately, this film failed to replicate the success of the original.

   Hellboy is a fun and visually stunning film that showcases del Toro's unique vision and love for the source material. While it has its flaws, particularly in the one-dimensional characters, it remains a cult classic and a standout in the superhero genre.

   El día de hoy tenia la idea de compartir una segunda película que también generó polémica, ya que el remake no fue lo que esperaban los fans. Como la publicación de la semana pasada que hablaba de la Liga de la justicia tuvo una buena recepción quise hablar ahora de las 3 peliculas de Hellboy, que en su momento también generó cierta polémica de la misma manera como la generó la Liga de la justicia el corte de Zack snyder. Y aca tenemos dos bandos el que está dirigido por Guillermo del toro y la que está dirigida por Neil Marshall. Así que examinemos cada una de estas películas como su trama, actores, efectos especiales y lo más importante porque una de estas dos decepcionó a la audiencia, Comencemos por la trama de esta tres peliculas.

   Today I had the idea to share a second movie that also generated controversy, since the remake was not what the fans expected. As last week's post that talked about Justice League was well received I wanted to talk about the 3 Hellboy movies, which at the time also generated some controversy in the same way as the Justice League Zack snyder's cut did. And here we have two sides, the one directed by Guillermo del toro and the one directed by Neil Marshall. So let's examine each of these movies as their plot, actors, special effects and most importantly why one of these two disappointed the audience, Let's start with the plot of these three movies.

   La historia de la primera pelicula comienza en 1944, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Sin embargo, el portal se abre antes de tiempo y Hellboy, un demonio con forma humana, es enviado a la Tierra. The victims have been killed by creatures that appear to be of mythological origin. Hellboy and his companions discover that the deaths are related to Balor's plans. Hellboy must stop Balor and prevent his army from invading Earth.

   Hellboy (2019 movie)

   Now the 2019 Hellboy movie directed by Neil Marshall, begins in the Middle Ages, where the Blood Queen, a powerful witch, is defeated by King Arthur and his knights.The Blood Queen is dismembered and her remains are hidden throughout England.In the present day, Hellboy, a demon born in Hell but raised on Earth, works for the AIDP.Hellboy is a being of great strength and power, but also of good heart and sense of humor.Hellboy and his fellow AIDP members, Ben Daimio and Alice Monaghan, must face a new enemy: the Blood Queen, who has come back to life. The Blood Queen wants to take revenge on humanity and destroy the world. Hellboy and his companions must stop the Blood Queen and prevent her plan from coming to fruition.

   Como puedes ver cada una de las tres películas tiene una trama totalmente distinta y como fan de esta saga me hubiera gustado que la película lanzada en el 2019 fuera sido una continuación de la historia original pero por problemas de dirección con Hollywood, no se escogió al cerebro maestro detrás de las dos primeras películas Guillermo del toro para dirigir esta tercera sino que le dieron el proyecto a un director que aunque había hecho muchos otros trabajos impresionantes en películas de terror nunca había hecho nada similar a hellboy y es allí donde está el primer error ya que como no estaba relacionado con nada del trabajo de este personaje de cómics no se sintió la misma esencia como la que sí transmitía Guillermo del toro con sus películas. A coto también que viniste del toro no solo dirigió hellboy 1 y hellboy 2 el ejército dorado sino que además dirigió otras películas animadas de este héroe rojo, tales como swords of storms, blood and iron y iron shoes.

   Así que Guillermo del toro era la pieza clave en el éxito de esta tercera película pero como ya mencioné por problemas con Hollywood y ciertas cuestiones relacionadas a las producciones de película No fue llamado para dirigir esta tercera entrega así que llamaron a este otro director que aunque hizo un trabajo relativamente bueno no tenía la esencia de las películas de 2004 y 2008.

   As you can see each of the three movies has a totally different plot and as a fan of this saga I would have liked the movie released in 2019 to have been a continuation of the original story but due to directorial problems with Hollywood, the mastermind behind the first two films Guillermo del toro was not chosen to direct this third one but they gave the project to a director who although he had done many other impressive works in horror films had never done anything similar to hellboy and that is where the first mistake is because as it was not related to any of the work of this comic book character it did not feel the same essence as the one Guillermo del toro did transmit with his films. A coto also that you came del toro not only directed hellboy 1 and hellboy 2 the golden army but he also directed other animated movies of this red hero such as swords of storms, blood and iron and iron shoes.

   So Guillermo del toro was the key piece in the success of this third movie but as I already mentioned due to problems with Hollywood and certain issues related to movie productions he was not called to direct this third installment so they called this other director who although he did a relatively good job did not have the essence of the 2004 and 2008 movies.

   Ahora si hablamos de otros aspectos de las películas notamos que las hechas por Guillermo del toro son superiores por ejemplo los efectos especiales aunque eran de una época todavía no desarrollada como actualmente ya que fue en el 2004 en el 2008 los efectos especiales son de maravilla incluso los diseños de personaje son fieles y como podemos ver Guillermo del toro también es fan de usar efectos especiales tradicionales no tanta cosas computarizadas y vemos que eso también lo aplicó en esta película de hellboy y les quedó maravilloso.

   Además la trama y el guión de la película de Guillermo del toro son superiores ya que la historia es más compleja emocionante y con más giros y vueltas sumamente intrigantes e interesantes además los personajes están mejor desarrollados y sus motivaciones son más comprensibles incluso la del villano. Además el actor que interpreta a hellboy que Ron Perlman, es simplemente asombroso ya que es perfecto para el papel tanto por su físico su interpretación carismática divertida y que encaja perfectamente con la trama.

   Now if we talk about other aspects of the movies we notice that those made by Guillermo del toro are superior for example the special effects although they were of a time not yet developed as it was in 2004 in 2008 the special effects are wonderful even the character designs are faithful and as we can see Guillermo del toro is also a fan of using traditional special effects not so much computerized stuff and we see that he also applied it in this hellboy movie and it was wonderful.

   In addition the plot and script of Guillermo del toro's movie are superior since the story is more complex, exciting and with more twists and turns extremely intriguing and interesting plus the characters are better developed and their motivations are more understandable even the villain. Also the actor who plays hellboy, Ron Perlman, is simply amazing as he is perfect for the role both for his physique and his funny charismatic performance that fits perfectly with the plot.

   A diferencia de la película de hellboy de Neil Marshall del 2019 que tiene efectos especiales de última generación pero no son nada impresionantes incluso hasta el cge es bastante torpe la trama es súper sencilla y simple y los personajes no son tan desarrollados ni tienen el carisma necesario además esta trama es más predecible y la motivación de los villanos son menos claras por ejemplo por qué la reina de sangre quiere destruir al mundo no se desarrolla totalmente y queda la duda en los fans. Por último el actor que interpreta hellboy en la película del 2019 que es David harbour hace un trabajo excelente, pero no tiene el mismo carisma y simpatía con el personaje como si lo tiene ron perlman.

   En conclusión estas son algunas de las razones que yo como fan personalmente pude ver de por qué pienso que la película de hellboy del 2019 es totalmente un fracaso.    Unlike Neil Marshall's 2019 hellboy movie which has state of the art special effects but they are not impressive at all even the cge is quite clumsy the plot is super simple and straightforward and the characters are not as developed nor do they have the necessary charisma plus this plot is more predictable and the motivation of the villains are less clear for example why the blood queen wants to destroy the world is not fully developed and the doubt is left in the fans' minds. Finally the actor who plays hellboy in the 2019 movie who is David harbour does an excellent job, but he doesn't have the same charisma and sympathy with the character as ron perlman does.

   In conclusion these are some of the reasons that I as a fan personally could see as to why I think the 2019 hellboy movie is a total flop.    Hello friends, I'm here with another interesting movie titled Hellboy and I would like to share with you.

   The movie is about Hellboy, a supernatural being, protects the earth with the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Soon, he faces the Blood Queen, an ancient witch who wants to bring about the end of the world.

   It begins In 517 A.D., the evil Blood Queen, Vivienne Nimue, unleashes a plague on England until king Arthur thwarts her with Ganeida, a member of her coven.

   Arthur uses Excalibur to dismember Nimue and hides her remains across England. In present-day Tijuana, Mexico, paranormal investigator Hellboy accidentally kills missing agent Esteban Ruiz, who has been transformed into a vampire during a wrestling match.

   After hearing Ruiz's dying words, prophesying that the end is coming, Hellboy is brought back to the B.P.R.D. in Colorado.

   He is assigned by B.P.R.D. leader Trevor Bruttenholm, his adoptive human father, to assist the Osiris Club in hunting three giants in Great Britain.

   The club's seer, Lady Hatton, reveals Bruttenholm was meant to kill Hellboy when he came into the human world as a result of the Nazis' project Ragna Rok but instead raised him.

   Meanwhile, a pig-like fairy known as Gruagach is advised by the witch Baba Yaga to retrieve Nimue's limbs so that she may grant his wish for revenge against Hellboy.

   During the hunt, Hellboy is betrayed and nearly killed by the hunters before they are ambushed by the giants.

   Hellboy fights and kills the giants until he collapses from exhaustion, only to be rescued by a young woman.

   He awakens in her flat, recognizing her as Alice Monaghan, a medium he once rescued from fairies as a baby.

   Sending a team to retrieve Hellboy, Bruttenholm introduces Hellboy to M11 agent Bem Daimio and relays that Nimue's remains have been taken, and the last piece is stored at the Osiris Club.

   Finding the club slain, Alice channels Hatton's spirit, who reveals that Nimue seeks Hellboy to cause the apocalypse.

   Nimue's arm is taken by Gruagach, and Nimue distracts Hellboy by appealing to his frustrations, allowing Gruagach to escape.

   Hellboy reveals that Gruagach is a changeling who took baby Alice's place before Hellboy branded him with iron and forced him to return Alice, which led to Gruagach hating Hellboy for taking his chance to be human.

   Daimio takes them to M11 headquarters before secretly acquiring a special bullet to kill Hellboy.

   After an argument with Bruttenholm about his adoption, Hellboy angrily storms off until he is magically transported to Baba Yaga's house.

   Having shot out Baba Yaga's eye, Hellboy is talked into giving up one of his eyes for Nimue's location. Hellboy reneges on the deal and is cursed to lose a loved one.

   Furthermore, On the way to Nimue's location at Pendleton, Daimio reveals to Alice that he was the sole survivor of a demonic jaguar attack.

   Nimue fully restores herself and kills her coven, but spares Ganeida. Hellboy attempts to stop her, but is overwhelmed.

   Nimue poisons Alice and flees, as Ganeida directs Hellboy to the resting place of Merlin to save Alice.

   After Merlin cures Alice and puts her and Daimio to sleep, he reveals that Hellboy is Anung un Rama, the firstborn male heir of Arthur through his mother who was spirited to Hell by his father.

   When offered Excalibur, Hellboy refuses after seeing a vision of himself causing the apocalypse, while Merlin, having exhausted his magic, disintegrates.

   Meanwhile, Nimue attacks M11 and abducts Bruttenholm as the group follows her to St. Paul's cathedral. Hellboy battles an empowered Gruagach, aided by Daimio in his jaguar form.

   However, Nimue betrays and kills Gruagach and propels Hellboy into Arthur's hidden tomb that holds Excalibur.

   Nimue kills Bruttenholm and an enraged Hellboy pulls out the sword, allowing demons to emerge from Hell.

   Hello friends, I'm here with another interesting movie titled Hellboy and I would like to share with you.

   The movie is about a demonic infant raised by humans becomes Earth's defender against paranormal forces. Together with his team, he must defeat a treacherous villain.

   It begins In 1944 during world war ll, with the help of Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin, the Nazis build a dimensional portal off the coast of Scotland and intend to free the Ogdru Jahad to aid them in defeating the Allies.

   Rasputin opens the portal with his disciples, Ilsa von Haupstein and Obersturmbannfuhrer Karl Ruprecht kroenen.

   An Allied strike force, guided by a young scientist named Trevor Bruttenholm, attacks the Germans and the portal is destroyed in the process, absorbing Rasputin, while Haupstein and Kroenen escape.

   The Allied team discovers that an infant demon with a right hand made of stone has come through the portal. They dub him "Hellboy"and Bruttenholm adopts him as his son.

   Sixty years later, the eternally youthful Kroenen and Haupstein resurrect Rasputin.

   FBI agent John Myers is transferred to the Bureau for paranormal research and defense (BPRD) at the request of Buttonhole, where he meets the adult Hellboy and a psychic amphibious humanoid named Abraham sapiens.

   Hellboy is sent to investigate an incident at a museum and battles a creature named Samael.

   After defeating it, Hellboy visits former BPRD member Liz Sherman at a mental hospital that she committed herself to due to her unstable pyrokinetic abilities.

   Abe learns that Samael was resurrected by Rasputin, who has imbued Samael with the power to reincarnate and split his essence, causing two of the creature's eggs to hatch and mature each time one dies.

   Meanwhile, Abe also sadly learns that Bruttenholm is dying. Concluding that the eggs are in the sewer, Hellboy, Abe, and several FBI agents go down to destroy them.

   Abe is injured while looking for the eggs, while Kroenen kills most of the agents.

   Kroenen, whose mutilated body is run by mechanical parts, shuts himself down, pretending to be defeated, and is brought to the bureau.

   The FBI Director is angered by Hellboy's recklessness. Myers takes Liz out for coffee and to talk.

   Hellboy, jealous of Myers, covertly follows them and leaves the bureau unguarded. Kroenen reanimates himself and Rasputin appears at the bureau, confronting Bruttenholm.

   Rasputin offers him a vision of the future, showing that Hellboy is the agent that will destroy the world.

   However, Bruttenholm tells Rasputin he will always see Hellboy as his son. Rasputin, respecting Bruttenholm for raising Hellboy directs a quick execution by Kroenen, Bruttenholm dies holding a rosary.

   Manning takes over the BPRD and locates Rasputin's mausoleum in an old cemetery outside of Moscow.

   A team led by Manning and Hellboy enters the mausoleum, but swiftly becomes separated. Hellboy and Manning find their way to Kroenen's lair and kill him.

   Hellboy reunites with Liz and Myers at Samael's new nest, but the creatures overwhelm them. Liz uses her pyrokinetic powers to incinerate the creatures and their eggs.

   Hellboy, Liz, and Myers lose consciousness and are captured by Rasputin and Haupstein.

   Rasputin sucks Liz's soul out of her body and tells Hellboy to release the Ogdru Jahad in return for her soul.

   Hellboy awakens his true power as Anung un Rama, causing his horns to regrow and a fiery crown to appear between them.

   Find out what happened next as he awakens his true power as Anung un Rama as the movie gets more interesting.

   Failed to maximize narrative

   The film won the Saturn Award for Best Makeup. in fact, the film was nominated for many of these awards. Even so this film is considered less attractive and failed. The film, starring David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian Mc Shane and Michael Heath, has an interesting narrative potential but fails to be maximized.

   Actually, the main acting role is David harbor as hellboy is very interesting in this film. However, the storyline in this film is too fast.    At the beginning of the film, Hellboy has a hard time. A number of interesting scenes had to be diverted by the censors. There is censorship filtering for five minutes during this film.    **Hello everyone ~ today in this post i want to present you one of the Guillermo del Toro movies that i saw and it conquered me very easily. I think i've seen it over 3 maybe 4 times a few years ago. The movie is called Hellboy and is the kind of fun movie that keeps you in front of the screen with great ease. Inspired by comics books, Hellboy is another superhero movie, which shows a character escaped from the world of hell - yep, a red demon, with filthy horns and a tail, of course strong and fire resistant. Okay, just watch the trailers below.** **The film is good in my opinion, it combines several genres, such as drama and comedy .... yep, somewhat engaging, it has action and the actors play quite well. I liked it and i highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for a good action movie, comic with a lot of fantasy. I recommend it from all points of view, i really liked it.**

    I really didn't expect a great deal from this film because I found the other Hellboy films to be very "meh" as well. However, now that I live in a Thai metropolis, movies in amazing theaters start at $3 a person and when I saw that this would be in an IMAX theater for a mere $4, I figured "what the hell."

    I can't really tell what is going on in the story and there is a lot of narration going on early in the film to get people up to speed because it isn't terribly related to the previous 2 films (3rd film was abandoned) and appears to be a completely different story and many are even calling it a reboot. I don't pretend to know the Dark Horse lore and I am not familiar with the actual story because it is Hellboy, not Star Wars. I'm not going to devote too much time to this.

    My cinema was not 3-D and I think if it was I might have found the film considerably less awful because looking at the action, it is quite obvious that most of what is going on with the camera angles were specifically designed for a 3-D audience.

    A vast majority of the dialogue is just dumb and contributes very little to the story but they needed to fill up the 90 minutes with something so I guess this is to be expected. Even Ian McShane couldn't make the trite lines in this movie interesting and I consider him to be one of the best actors alive.

    I don't know why Ron Pearlman isn't starring in this film and I guess it doesn't really matter. I do know that he was disappointed that the 3rd film in the originally planned trilogy was cancelled and maybe there was some behind the scenes griping that eliminated him from contention. I don't know... i don't care enough to look into it.

    I was yawning so much during this film and this is not something that often happens to me in the theater experience because I genuinely love going to the cinema. This movie is just plain bad, though. I overheard many others in the bathroom talking about the film after they saw it and it appeared as though my opinion was shared by most of the very few people in the seats in an IMAX theater.

    If you are considering going to this movie, I would say don't. If you insist on going anyway, perhaps make certain that it is a 3-D showing because the film was obviously designed precisely for that sort of experience - perhaps to distract you from the fact that there is no actual story.

    on a scale of "Urgh!" to "Wowsers!" I give Hellboy 2019 a rating of.....

    I can't give it an "Urgh!" rating because I had quite low expectations of the film going in

    Hellboy gets a 2019 reboot. Not that it needed one. At least not another mediocre Hellboy film. The one starring Ron Perlman was "meh." The reboot may have been worse. Both installations are forgettable. The differences a matter of degrees.

    

    Hellboy (David Harbour) is a conflicted demon-spawn. His surrogate father (Ian McShane) raised him to hunt monsters. Hellboy learns that his father was sent to kill him when a Nazi experiment raised him from the underworld near the end of World War II. He is a bit conflicted. He is a demon with a moral compass. He is also heir to an extinct bloodline, making him uniquely powerful. Faced with a destiny that conflicts with his own worldview, Hellboy must decide how to wield his new-found power. When the Blood Queen (Milla Jovovich) is resurrected, Hellboy must battle his own...well, inner demons, while fighting his most powerful foe.

    

    Andrew Cosby adapted this screenplay from the graphic novels created by Mike Mignola. This is Mignola's first screenplay. It shows. The characters are a bit flat, with dialogue that is hackneyed, at best. The film is over-the-top, which can be okay. But this film doesn't make much sense at times. It feels like a cobbled together mess with a bit of heavy metal action attempting to hold things together. As much as I wanted to like this film, I couldn't get into it. I was watching it, not engaged with it. I felt completely disconnected. The characters were particularly bad. Not one mattered to me. It was a splatter-fest with little coherence.

    

    It is hard to discuss the acting in a film that lacks substance. You can't always blame the actors for flat characters. I like Ian McShane as well as Milla Jovovich. This film didn't do much to propel their careers. Harbour was an interesting choice as Hellboy. He looked good in the role. More edgy than Perlman. But I just didn't enjoy it. I don't think it was Harbour. I think it was the writing. So I am not going to take points away from the actors. They did their best with what they had to work with.

    

    Hellboy is rated R. The rating is well deserved. The film earned the rating because of the gore factor. There is plenty of blood and guts in this film. Graphic blood and guts. The film depicts bodies being decapitated or ripped apart with sinewy detail. The film includes strong language and alcohol consumption. This is definitely the type of film that will induce nightmares in children. I would advise against younger children watching this film. Run time is an even two hours.

    

    Hellboy is, simply, forgettable. It was a graphically violent film that lacked substance. The production was choppy, the writing was frenetic, the characters flat. The casting was okay, but the actors had little to work with. The film relied on special effects and gore to tie together a weak story that lacked cohesion. I was bored watching this film, in spite of the action sequences. It was tedious. 4/10.

    For the contest #135 which begins today, i chose the movie Hellboy (2019) which is directed by Neil Marshall. Hellboy (2019) have the first release date in 10 April in Belgium and Philippines and the date which will count for our contest is 20 April. Let's take a look at some things that can help you to choose the correct rating for the contest :

    • the cast contain names like David Harbour, Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim and others

    Hot damn! I know what I’m doing April 12th! Using my AMC A-List to go see this bad boy on opening night. Sneak in some Snow Caps as I go to Walgreens and buy it for a buck instead of 5 beans at the theater. Actually my theater doesn’t even carry Snow Caps so screw then. Get with the times AMC!!!!

    Anyway, April brings a new Hellboy movie...this time with the awesome David Harbour helming the iconic comic book told previously played (also awesomely) by Ron Perlman.

    Check out Perlman’s original look on the left and Harbour’s on the right. Sweet. Super excited! What about you...what’s your thoughts?!?

    Instead of continuing the previous version of Hellboy with the third film, Hollywood filmmakers under the banner of Lionsgate chose to recycle (reboot) the movie. As a result, a new display showcased the studio with David Harbor as the actor replaces Ron Perlman.

    Photos shared through Hellboy's Facebook account, show David Harbor who also appeared in Stranger Things series, in a more gallant and spooky. His appearance as Hellboy, almost the same as in the previous film, two horns broken on his forehead. The difference, this new version will have longer hair.

    Like Ron Perlman, David Harbor is also almost unrecognizable with Hellboy's faithful makeup following his comic design with a red-painted body. His right hand also has a large stone named Right Hand of Doom with different designs. While in his left hand holding the gun.

    "Shocking #Hellboy #FirstLook," wrote the studio in a description of Facebook photos. Some fans then delivered his comments. Uniquely there is one of the most favored comments revealing the longing for Hellboy's version of Ron Perlman. "Ron Perlman is the ONLY Hellboy," one fan wrote.

    However, there is also a consider Hellboy new and old versions did not change much. "Wow! It looks good! Still prefer Ron Pearlman," said a fan. "It's David Harbor as Hellboy? He looks like Ron Perlman! Although I think his Right Hand of Doom is different from his long hair stands out," said another fan.

    Hellboy film recycling was directed by Neil Marshall who was involved in the Game of Thrones series, as well as films such as Constantine and Hannibal. Hellboy first release in 2004 followed by the sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army in 2008. The third film was not made because of the many obstacles that hit the production team.

    The new Hellboy version is scheduled to be titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen to air on January 11, 2019. Sasha Lane will portray Hellboy's lover Alice Monaghan, and Ian McShane as his stepfather Professor Trevor Broom.

    Milla Jovovich was chosen as her antagonist named Blood Queen, and Penelope Mitchell as an old wizard of Ganeida. While Daniel Dae Kim is being invited to portray Major Ben Daimio, a Japanese-American descendant who is a member of Paranormal Research and Defense.
