Nos montamos en el Delorean de Volver al Futuro, y regresamos en el tiempo para revivir aquellos años 80 donde las películas nos llenaron de emoción. Piezas cinematográficas, que así como las canciones de la época siempre quedan grabadas en la mente y en nuestros corazones. En este caso nos remontamos a 1984, tiempo donde pudimos disfrutar de Calles de Fuego; si bien es cierto no fue un éxito taquillero puesto que el dinero recaudado fue un poco más de la mitad de su presupuesto, para el público, por lo menos para mí fue y es una película muy entretenida y que llena las expectativas de estos tiempos. Más aún si viene de la mano de un director a quien le gusta todo lo que dentro de este filme se evidencia, motores, pandillas, guerras urbanas, todo un westerns dentro de la ciudad, esto sin contar con las excelentes interpretaciones del rock de la época. Toda una combinación digna de disfrutar, y a eso es lo que venimos aquí, a motivarlos para que se adentren en el mundo del cine de los 80, que estoy seguro que a todos les gusta, sobre todo si podemos saborear una ensalada perfecta cuyos ingredientes son el amor, drama, acción, aventura, y mejor aún mucho rock and roll. Vamos a la acción.

Esta entrega de Calles de Fuego data de 1984, dirigida por Walter Hill quien ya venía con gran experiencia con las películas The Warriors en 1979, Límite 48 horas en 1982 aquella donde intervino el fabuloso Eddie Murphy y Nick Nolte. En cuanto al guión de Calles de Fuego, éste fue escrito por el mismo Walter acompañado de Larry Gross. Claro está no podrían faltar sus actores principales Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis y Willen Dafoe, interpretaciones sólidas y coherentes. Es válido mencionar que esta película estaba pensada para una trilogía, sin embargo por su alto presupuesto y baja recaudación todo esto se quedó hasta aquí; y aunque muchos consideran esta película como el fracaso de Hill, no se puede negar que logró el objetivo de perdurar en el tiempo sobre otros filmes del mismo género. Aquí no les voy a contar la película, porque lo intención es motivarlos para la vean y la disfruten.

Nos encontramos con las actuaciones de Michael Paré como el duro Tom Cody, Diane Lane interpreta a la bella estrella Ellen Aim, Rick Moranis es Billy Fish novio y representante de Ellen, Willen Dafoe es el malvado y líder de los bombarderos Raven Shaddock, Bill Paxton es Clyde el cantinero, Amy Madigan la guerrera McCoy ayudante de Cody, y Deborah Van Valkenburgh como Reva Cody hermana de Tom.
Para mí esta película es un perfecto western urbano ambientado en los años 50, además de ser un filme de culto donde la acción, la música rock y su presentación tipo cómic lo hacen atractivo. Donde los duelos se dan en las calles cambiando las armas por martillos. De verdad que es una obra de arte, digan lo que digan los críticos. Historia que inicia en un emocionante concierto donde Ellen Aim interpretada por Diane Lane, destaca piezas musicales de gran calibre, de verdad que lo hace tan bien que pareciera que realmente canta las canciones. En medio de ese acto inicia el caos causado por los bombarderos liderados por Raven Shaddock, quienes secuestran a la cantante.
Como en toda historia de amor existe la esperanza de que la princesa en apuros, sea rescatada por su príncipe azul. Esperanza que asume Reva, quien le escribe a su hermano, cazarecompensas y antiguo novio de Ellen, Tom Cody para que la rescate. Al final este acepta e inicia la gran aventura y acción, adentrándonos en el mundo de las motos, violencia, rock y calles muy peligrosas. Siempre en compañía de su ayudante MacCoy y el manager Billy Fish.

No podemos negar que la película está muy bien presentada, los personajes son creíbles y bien plantados. La trama te atrapa en todo su desarrollo y ni hablar de la banda sonora Fire Inc, donde los ritmos son sumamente contagiosos dando ese toque de emoción y magia. La fotografía es fantástica con una ambientación como se dijo de los años 50, pero con ese toque futurista.
Me encanta la caracterización de Ellen al inicio donde interpreta la canción No where fast, escena tan bien hecha que para mí, ella cantaba la canción. Sin Dejar de lado la pasión, fuerza y sufrimiento al momento de interpretar Tonigth os what It means to be Young, instante que me llenó de nostalgia.
We cannot deny that the film is very well presented, the characters are believable and well planted. The plot catches you in all its development and not to mention the Fire Inc soundtrack, where the rhythms are extremely contagious giving that touch of emotion and magic. The photography is fantastic with a setting like it was said from the 50's, but with that futuristic touch.
I love the characterization of Ellen at the beginning where she sings the song No where fast, a scene so well done that for me, she sang the song. Without leaving aside the passion, strength and suffering at the moment of interpreting Tonigth os what It means to be Young, an instant that filled me with nostalgia.
