TURBO

Review by @patricia15 🏆#140 🔥8 🎵12 🎬12 · 1d · of Turbo Fast · 3 views

I have always found animated movies interesting when they take an ordinary character and build an entire story around an unusual idea, and Turbo definitely does that with a snail who wants to race. What I liked about the movie was how quickly it established Turbo's obsession with speed. He wasn't satisfied with simply being a snail living the usual snail life. He wanted to be fast, and the movie made that obsession funny without making Turbo annoying.

I particularly enjoyed the scene where Turbo ends up in the car engine and suddenly gains extraordinary speed. It was ridiculous, but it worked within the world of the movie. From that point, the story became much more interesting because Turbo finally had the ability to do what he had always wanted.

I also liked the relationship between Turbo and Tito. Tito discovering Turbo and deciding to use him in his racing idea could easily have felt silly, but the movie gradually made their partnership believable. Tito try to convince others that Turbo could actually race while Turbo himself was simply eager to prove what he could do. The racing scenes were probably the most entertaining part for me. Seeing a tiny snail moving alongside professional race cars was obviously unrealistic, but that is exactly what made the scenes enjoyable.

The movie knew how absurd its central idea was and leaned into it instead of trying to make it overly serious. I also liked how the other snails were used in the story, especially Chet. His constant concern for Turbo created a nice contrast with Turbo's reckless personality. Their relationship gave the movie some of its better moments outside the racing scenes.

By the time the final race came around, I was already curious to see how Turbo would perform. The ending gave the story the kind of conclusion I expected, although I wouldn't say it was particularly surprising. Still, it was satisfying and fitted the tone of the movie. I found Turbo entertaining. I liked the characters and the humour and especially the ridiculous concept of a snail competing in a professional race.

This movie made me smile; it didn't really grab my attention all that much, hehe, but you can definitely see the passion the snail puts into achieving his dreams.

Man, Turbo was so famous when it was released. I was still a school student when it was released, and we friends were like crazy for such titles, and then this one was released. Movie theatres for these movies were not easy to get into at that time, so we had to wait for pirated copies, and you won't believe how many days we waited for this movies copy. And I enjoyed it to the fullest. Good review, and thanks for reminding me of those sweet memories with your review.
