Hey friends, how did your week start? last week of January was quite relaxed and I was able to organize myself and watch several things (series, movies and one or another anime) and one that I watched was Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead, when it came out months ago I watched about 3 episodes, but I abandoned it temporarily because of its constant delays (something I will talk about later) but now I finished watching it and I finally have my final impressions about this season and this anime!
I'm not a fan of zombie movies and series, they really don't grab me at all, they don't scare me, nor amuse me, but I hadn't seen a premise like this one and it really grabbed me, I'll tell you a little bit: The protagonist of Zom 100 is Akira Tendo a boy who suffers from one of the greatest evils of Japan, overexploitation, he is totally psychologically destroyed, he does not see his family, he is not happy, everything in his life is dark, but one day he wakes up to go to the hellish job he has and when he leaves home he realizes that a zombie infection swept Japan... SO HE MUST NOT GO TO WORK!
With this premise, we are shown how Akira feels happy and free again as he survives the zombie horde in Tokyo and how he learns to be a better survivor and live his life again, this time as someone really happy and this is something that the play focuses a lot on, on how the different characters that our protagonist encounters suffer from some evil or some trauma generated by the toxicity of Japanese culture.
This is where the secondary characters come in, I won't spoil too much of the play, but to give an example, Akira's best friend seemed to be happy in his day to day work and after the zombie apocalypse, he reveals that he always wanted to be a comedian and that everything he showed to others was a farce to avoid looking bad or being judged, the play talks about these types of problems.
As soon as Akira gets back together with his best friend and they start traveling together, our protagonist in a moment of reflection decides to make a list of the 100 things he wants to do before dying by zombies, giving a basis to the name of the anime.
As soon as they start their journey other secondary characters appear that will contribute to the plot, such as Shizuka and Beatrix, the first one is a first class strategist, since her father forced her to think like a strategist to see the advantages and disadvantages of everything, and Beatrix is a foreigner who arrived in Japan before the zombie problem, But she is an expert in Japan, because she became obsessed with the country and learned everything she could about it, between all of them they show us how this adventure develops and how they solve their problems to survive, of course, all with an incredible humor and the best aesthetics.
A point that I found interesting is how they portray the problems here, they show how humans, for one reason or another are the cause of all the evils that happen to people, so beyond the humorous tone of the work, it does not make us reflect on how life can become much worse thanks to bad people, or bad life decisions.
Todo Zom 100 has a different feel to any Zombie movie I've seen before, the closest in tone and premise is the movie called ZOMBIELAND, because here all the gory and other horrible scenes are portrayed with a rainbow of colors to highlight everything horrible, it is something ironic but at the same time super interesting to see, because the nuance of terror is usually the darkness, so we talk about horror movies and series where everything is at night and with dark tones, lots of blood and red tones, while here everything happens in the light of day, and in the middle of a thousand colors.
The truth is this is an anime that I loved, it was complicated to watch, since the producer had many delays with the chapters and the truth between so many premieres of other anime and series, in the end one stops remembering an anime that you do not know when it will come out and you lose interest, but after finishing watching the chapters issued, I hope they bring out more seasons and soon I will read the manga!
Without anything else to tell you, watch Zom 100 Bucket List of the dead, you will have a lot of fun! Thanks for reading me! If you have any series or anime to recommend you can leave it here and then we'll comment about it!
Hey amigos!
