Well, last night I saw the movie "The Silence of the White City" and I have to say several things.
The first and I think the most important, don't watch the movie if you haven't read the book yet.
The book has what it has to have, the plot, the characters, the places and above all something as normal as the murderer is discovered at the end.
In the movie the murderer is the same as in the book; they respect that. But in this one you see it practically at the beginning.

And they show it to you as it is, because yes, just like that, this is the murderer. You see it without any argument.
Then, there are things that happen in the book that don't happen in the movie and things that happen in the movie that don't happen in the book. I imagine that as usual.
If you haven't seen the movie or read the book, in the first one they pull the killer out of their sleeve (not in the book).
In the book they argue you throughout the novel to make sense of who the killer is, why he kills and what drove him to be a psychopath.
In other words: they have left out a lot of things from the book, I guess not to make the movie too long.
I guess that's what usually happens when making an adaptation. The movie is pretty good in my point of view for what it could have been.
I don't want to go deeper into the matter because I don't want to reveal more details. Read the book, if you haven't, and enjoy a good detective novel.
