The Agents of Shield continue their investigation into how and why they were brought to the dystopian human colony of the destroyed Earth-of-the-future.
Unfortunately, the team has already been torn apart. Coulson, Mack and Yo-yo are stuck in Grill's work camp, Daisy is alone with Zeke, Jemma is a slave for Kasius, and May is only able to get into Grill's camp as Tess' new pilot.
Coulson quickly determines that Virgil, whose book he's studying, must have been doing a kind of reconnaissance and searching for something on one of the larger pieces of the Earth. He goes on a trawler run with Tess and May along with Mack to do some more investigation, but Grill, suspecting them of stealing from him, sends one of his crew, Zev, along with them. Yo-yo, however, stays behind to try and steal the Kree-scroll-map back from Grill, and strikes up contact with Daisy, who wants to try and get Jemma back, a plan Deke disagrees with strongly. Yo-yo succeeds, and is able to and the scroll over to Daisy using her super speed.
On the trawler run, the team discovers that Virgil was talking to someone on the surface of the Earth, someone who knew they would be coming. Tess insists this is impossible --the surface of the Earth is uninhabitable and crawling with roaches. When Zev finds them out, she totally freaks out and asserts that if they don't kill him, they will be killed instead. Coulson and the others do not agree. Instead, they frame him for stealing from Grill by revealing he has a firearm contraband, and he is sent to the surface of the Earth.

Meanwhile, in Kasius' quaters, Jemma's services are needed to help a young inhuman, Abby, master her abilities in time to give a demonstration to the visiting Lady Basha. She tries her best to help her, only to discover later that the 'demonstration' was really a gladiatorial fight to the death with one of Basha's champions. After a rocky start, Abby is able to master her powers, which involve the manipulation of her body's molecular density, and wins the fight. But then, she is sold off to Basha as a fighter, and a slave.
Daisy uses the scroll to get up to Kasius' quaters. Then she walks into a trap --Deke has given her up to Kasius in a bid to save his people from the Kree's wrath.
