Arrow Season 6 Episode 17 Review: 'Brothers in Arms'

Okay... What just happened?!

Wasn't it bad enough that Curtis, Rene and Dinah left team Arrow? Now, Diggle too? Oliver's best friend and 'Brother-in-arms' for the past six years? Damn, arrow!

Diaz is becoming a far different threat than the city has faced so far. Lieutenant Dinah Drake and her team of clean cops are cleaned out faster than you can say 'Green Arrow' after going after and arresting Anatoly --an arrest that is quickly revised. Someone Oliver and Dig go after is silenced forever by his own girlfriend who has an allegiance to Diaz right in front of them!

With all these setbacks, Dig finally cracks, accusing Oliver of alienating everyone close to him. At first, Oliver is confused by Dig's behaviour, but when he tells him he leaves a trail of bodies in his path, mentioning Tommy and Laurel by name, Oliver fires back, saying coolly that 'at least his trail of bodies doesn't include his own brother', striking Dig's rawest nerve and leading them to blows. Felicity arrives and pulls them apart, but the damage is done. Things can't be the same.

To take out Diaz's vertigo operation, though, they have to work together, and each delivers a short apology, Dig promising to follow Oliver's orders in the field. They work as well as before, but when they return, Dig, who has had a conversation about his outburst with his wife, Lyla, tells Oliver that though he has become a better man in the years since he returned from Lian Yu as the Hood, he has become a worse leader, and quits Team Arrow, going to work for ARGUS instead.

Oliver lets him go, but decides to confron the Police Chief and District Attorney about their working for Diaz, ultimately firing them when they confess. However, they don't take this quietly, coming out in public to accuse Mayor Queen of firing them to impede the investigation into his being the Green Arrow.

In an aside, we discover that Diaz and Black Siren Laurel are having an affair...

Things keep heating up for Oliver. What did you think of this episode? Let's know in the comments!
