Everything is crashing down around Oliver's, and the other vigilante’s, ears. The entire SCPD is being controlled by Diaz, as well as most of the justice system. But things are especially bad for Oliver. After firing the Police captain and District Attorney last week, the city's council is looking to impeach him. He is charged to provide proof of the fired officials misconduct But Diaz has been working from the shadows. Everyone who knows his name is working for him already. Oliver has no case. Felicity is working overtime to unearth some proof, but she's not going fast enough. There's no time. The only thing they know for sure is that Diaz visits the police precinct every night, but Oliver can't hope to win that kind of battle alone. Finally, Felicity does get some evidence, but Oliver can’t use it unless he tells the council that he's the Green Arrow.

Oliver is so stressed, he yells at William, scaring him and breaking his project for a science fair. Felicity sends him off and he returns to the bunker, where she meets him soon afterward and informs him she wants a temporary break from their marriage.

And then Prometheus arrives. In one heart-stopping moment, Oliver realises in horror that he never went back for the body after the explosion on Lian Yu. They fight, and though wounded, Oliver manages to put him down. Except… there's no one there. There's no wound. The doors open again and Prometheus walks in laughing. It's all not real. Oliver has been hallucinating. A quick bloodwork reveals he has been drugged with Vertigo. Quick thinking reveals it was done by Councilman Collins that very morning while meeting with the Mayor in his office. Oliver goes into the council meeting drugged and attempts to use the evidence Felicity found, but when he reveals he got it from the Green Arrow while refusing to say who it is, his credibility is shattered. Quintin saves the meeting by faking a family emergency, but the damage is done.

Distraught, Oliver returns to the bunker. But he is still under the influence of Vertigo and Prometheus still whispers in his ears, eventually convincing him that he lost the game when he decided to have partners and he should have never stopped being the Hood. Donning the old outfit, Oliver goes down to the precinct, determined to get Diaz out.

Thankfully, Quintin calls Felicity at that point, looking for Oliver When she informs him she had never been to the bunker, they realise Oliver’s thinking she was leaving him was also the influence of the vertigo. They track him down and Quintin hurries to stop him from committing suicide by attacking the SCPD. Felicity hurries too, but by the time she gets there, Oliver has knocked down Quintin and entered the building. She rushes in and pulls her husband out just in time.

Soon, the effect of the Vertigo fades. But it's too late. The council has met, and they have decided to remove Mayor Queen from office. Oliver, remembering what Prometheus told him in his hallucinations and what Dig said about stretching himself too thin, decides it is time to return to the basics and do it all alone, and sends Felicity, the last member of Team Arrow, away.
