This week, we learn the big truth about Kasius. The human colony is actually an inhuman farm.
Following the capture of Daisy at the end of last episode, 'A life earned' begins with her blood being drawn while Kasius taunts and questions her to get answers on her mysterious presence on his base. Knowing of the prophesy, he now realises it was true, and is quite worried about the number of Shield agents now on his base, apart from Jemma and Daisy. However, he has other plans for Quake, destroyer of worlds: her fame has so spread throughout the galaxy that he will get so great a price auctioning her off that he can finally leave the colony. He takes her blood, and puts her in place for her first demonstration before the Lady Basha. There, she meets another inhuman, Ben, who can read thoughts. Daisy tries to turn him on her side at once, but like every other person in that place, he is resigned to their circumstances.
Meanwhile, Coulson and the others have realised Daisy is missing and don't know what to make of it. They find Deke and he lies smoothly that he was just with her and that she's fine. They believe him, and set off to investigate the latest clue they've found about the place --the existence of a high-security Kree Research level. Deke leads them and they break into the lab, where they discover what Kasius is really doing with the colony: using inhuman DNA to grow babies to increase the chances they will turn. And they find information on the latest sample being analysed --the blood of the inhuman, Quake. May and Coulson turn on him and force him to tell the truth about his betrayal. He confesses, but he also confesses something else after hearing the transmission from the surface --the voice belongs to his father. Unfortunately, at that point, Sinara comes in. Coulson escapes with Deke, but May stays behind to hold her off. She tries her best, but Sinara takes her down. Coulson takes Deke back to their level and gives him a chance to make the right choice. He does by returning the payment Kasius had made for Daisy, but COulson still locks him in just in case.
Back in the lighthouse, Kasius learns of the capture of May, someone who could also be a Shield agent contrary to Daisy's claims that only her and Jemma arrived. To learn the real truth, he uses Ben, who corroborates her story. But he's still not convinced. He calls in Jemma and while in the same room, but out of sight of themselves, he questions them both about the night they were taken. Daisy and Jemma both give the same account of how they were taken, leaving the others out of it. Daisy is shocked --how had that happened?? Then she discovers that Ben had helped them by allowing Jemma to read his mind and hear Daisy's story, finally turning to their side after reading Kasius' thoughts and seeing his final plan: to destroy the place and all the humans inside after he gets a big enough payout for his grown inhumans. They decide to work together to utilise the chance when the time comes, but first, the galaxy must watch the inhuman 'tournament' featuring the Destroyer of worlds. The bidders arrive, and amongst them is Fitz, who was left back in 2017.
