The mutants of the underground deal with the fallout of last episode, as the Strucker children come into their new abilities.

After the death of Arthur Strucker, Pulse, and the unnamed, but brethren, heart breaking speedster used as a spy, the leaders of the underground are riled. Nevertheless, they try to retain a level head in determining the next step to take. Esme, on the ther hand, being the telepath who got the infomation out of the speedster's head, wants them to raid the Trak Industries lab she saw and rescue the mutants being held there, including her family, at once. When the mutants argue that they don't have any actual actionable intelligence especially the security around the facility, she begins to secretly use her abilities to manipulate them, especially Lorna and John.

Meanwhile, Caitlin is shaken about Arthur's revelations on the mutant genes in their family, especially about the fact that Reed himself was actually a mutant until he was 'treated'. When he tells her about Fenris, the 1970s terrorist Strucker siblings one of which was his grandparent and whose abilities their children share, she decides the best course of action is not to keep secrets and tell the kids everything. They also decide to test if Andy and Lauren inherited Fenris' greatest power --the ability to combine their powers. Lauren is reluctant, but does it at Andy's persuasion. And they discover they do have the ability, and that they could literally vaporise everything around them with it. But when Andy suggest they learn to control it, Lauren balks --that much power scares her, and she doesn't want to turn out like terrorist grandparents.

At last, after Lorna, Sonya and Sage are able to put together enough information about the Trask lab, the leaders of the underground decide to go into action. Everyone with combat ability (that is, Marcos, Lorna, and Thunderbird, accompanied by Esme)is needed to break into the lab, but the Strucker family are also needed to take out a power plant at the same time, along with Sonya who has acquired a memory of the place, and Clarice, to get them in and out unnoticed. However, things don't go as planned. Back at Sentinel Services, after the capture of the speedster and the burning of Dr. Campbell, Special Agent Jace Turner is sure the mutants will try to raid the lab and has every resource he could muster watching the area closely --and he discovers the plan to break into the power plant. Taking a small army of officers and Sentinels improved to withstand Andy's destructive abilities, he raids the place with them inside. Clarice can't blink them out in time and is captured, and Sonua sacrifices her freedom to lock the Strucker kids in a basement. Andy and Lauren go Fenris, but in a surprising twist, it is Andy who realises they are in the basement and breaks the connection before they kill everybody in the building. Before they can do anything else, Sentinel Services break in and they are captured, and lauren looks at him with annoyance, fear and hatred in her eyes.
