Human beings are always evolving and this applies to different ways of expressing themselves, in products such as anime it is vital how we visually perceive a story because regardless of how well written it may be told, if an animation studio fails to provide a visual quality that positively satisfies the viewer, then the anime is destined to be a failure.

The easy way is that if there is already a comfortable animation structure for the viewer's eyes, that visual way of executing anime is the way to go but by nature we like to experiment and see what happens if we choose the hard way. Two examples with similar genre and story that serve as examples to analyze all the above I have mentioned are Baki Hanma and Kengan AShura.

I know that these two specific anime have been seen by many members of the community and thanks to their recommendations in different posts, I was encouraged to watch them and the big difference I noticed was the type of animation, in fact they mentioned in one of the comments that the animation structure could reduce their desire to continue watching the anime.

In the image we can see a classic animation structure in anime, or at least the one I am used to, without so much influence of digital, artificial, fake because at least for my taste it is more comfortable to watch and does not distract me or take me out of the story, that example is Baki Hanma, in my case I liked the animation, I could enjoy the story and the battles with a natural visual of the product.

All this changes radically in the anime Kengan AShura where I was greatly impacted by its type of animation that is perceived too false and grotesque, in my case I could quietly enjoy the story but it was atrocious to endure the deformation of the characters during the battles because of the animation that was decided to implement for that anime.

I am in favor of the advancement of technologies and I am aware that products can be sacrificed but maybe in the future this grotesque form of animation in Kengan AShura will become natural in future products and of course experiments are necessary to see if the anime maintains a fluid kinetics and accepted by the viewer.

One note I want to point out is that Baki also used this too digital or computerized, grotesque and aberrant animation style but it was in a few scenes, it is as if they did it to feel the ground of the viewers and see their reaction, in my case it was neutral because as I said, I enjoyed the story in Kengan Ashura but the visual impact depending on the sensitivity of the viewer, can be harmful and drive that person away from the anime.

In the Gif where we see the great Yujiro Hanma unleashing his fury, that type of animation is ideal for me and I am sure that for many it is like that, I feel very comfortable watching it and I think it expresses very well the kinetics of battle, which in this case is a melee fight.

In the part of experiments for the visual representation of anime, I am in favor of continuing to do so because I think that precisely that has improved over the decades the way in which an animation is executed for an anime in aspects such as visual quality and improve the time in which a product can be ready but the biggest conclusion I can reach is that it involves a lot of doubt and a possible effort in vain because this kind of decisions can really kill what could handle an anime audience.

Many will have seen these two anime or some other where the change in the visual representation of the animation is remarkable and radical to a too digital, extremely artificial and lifeless, I would like to know in comments that both affected your viewing of these anime those animation structures and it is seen that the traditional still wins by the way it was represented the crossover between these two anime.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

Oh my, I love Kengan's animation style so much hahahaah. Don't get me wrong, I love Baki's animation too, the mix between CGI and 2D is well balanced and looks really smooth. It's great.

But what I love about Kengan is how raw it looks, and that is accomplished by the very exaggerated use of CGI. It's supposed to convey a more realistic feeling in the sense that real fights are not easy to watch, they look awful, they are in fact grotesque, so Kengan for me shows that realistic side, although it's obviously a digital animation.

But I don't know, I love both animes so I appreciate both styles 😂💕

I have not seen these anime, my son I think he saw Baki and I saw some scenes with him, as for how the animation evolves over time, it is notorious if we see an old anime like for example Yu Yu Hakusho or the same Zodiac Riders, compared to a more recent one even those that have lasted a long time like Naruto or Naruto Shippuden, you can see how the animation changed as they progressed, these days I watched Bleach again to see with the freshest memory Bleach bloody battle and I noticed how the animation of the first season is never equal to the rest of the seasons and not even the new one, which is more noticeable when they use scenes as memories, it is true that there are animations exaggeratedly plastic, but I think that in the end everything is changing over time, but should not be exaggerated with some details for the enjoyment and taste of those who observe, greetings.

Although it is not my type of anime, I liked your explanation and I think the same as you, the Baki animation looks better.

when they use technology to facilitate the animation often gives a very strange and uncomfortable result to the eye, there are few anime that know how to use CGI well, personally I am a person that when I watch an anime first I focus on its animation, even if it has the best story in the world if I don't like its animation I simply can't stand it, Baki has a unique animation and very nice to see.

I definitely stick with Baki's animation, like you, I think the technological advances in animation are good, but many times they look fake or unnatural. From my point of view anime in general should keep the classic animation.

    Thanks for sharing!
