  1. (ENG/SPA) Animation Style: Baki VS Kengan Ashura@promete0sz647d

Human beings are always evolving and this applies to different ways of expressing themselves, in products such as anime it is vital how we visually perceive a story because regardless of how well written it may be told, if an animation studio fails to provide a visual quality that positively satisfies the viewer, then the anime is destined to be a failure.

The easy way is that if there is already a comfortable animation structure for the viewer's eyes, that visual way of executing anime is the way to go but by nature we like to experiment and see what happens if we choose the hard way. Two examples with similar genre and story that serve as examples to analyze all the above I have mentioned are Baki Hanma and Kengan AShura.

    image.png

    baki animation 2d.jpg

Baki Hanma Animation Style, Source of Image

I know that these two specific anime have been seen by many members of the community and thanks to their recommendations in different posts, I was encouraged to watch them and the big difference I noticed was the type of animation, in fact they mentioned in one of the comments that the animation structure could reduce their desire to continue watching the anime.

In the image we can see a classic animation structure in anime, or at least the one I am used to, without so much influence of digital, artificial, fake because at least for my taste it is more comfortable to watch and does not distract me or take me out of the story, that example is Baki Hanma, in my case I liked the animation, I could enjoy the story and the battles with a natural visual of the product.

    image.png

    untitled.gif

grotesque animation style at Kengan AShura, Gif of Tenor Source

All this changes radically in the anime Kengan AShura where I was greatly impacted by its type of animation that is perceived too false and grotesque, in my case I could quietly enjoy the story but it was atrocious to endure the deformation of the characters during the battles because of the animation that was decided to implement for that anime.

I am in favor of the advancement of technologies and I am aware that products can be sacrificed but maybe in the future this grotesque form of animation in Kengan AShura will become natural in future products and of course experiments are necessary to see if the anime maintains a fluid kinetics and accepted by the viewer.

One note I want to point out is that Baki also used this too digital or computerized, grotesque and aberrant animation style but it was in a few scenes, it is as if they did it to feel the ground of the viewers and see their reaction, in my case it was neutral because as I said, I enjoyed the story in Kengan Ashura but the visual impact depending on the sensitivity of the viewer, can be harmful and drive that person away from the anime.

    image.png

    untitled.gif

stylized animation kinetics at Baki Hanma, Gif of Tenor Source

In the Gif where we see the great Yujiro Hanma unleashing his fury, that type of animation is ideal for me and I am sure that for many it is like that, I feel very comfortable watching it and I think it expresses very well the kinetics of battle, which in this case is a melee fight.

In the part of experiments for the visual representation of anime, I am in favor of continuing to do so because I think that precisely that has improved over the decades the way in which an animation is executed for an anime in aspects such as visual quality and improve the time in which a product can be ready but the biggest conclusion I can reach is that it involves a lot of doubt and a possible effort in vain because this kind of decisions can really kill what could handle an anime audience.

Many will have seen these two anime or some other where the change in the visual representation of the animation is remarkable and radical to a too digital, extremely artificial and lifeless, I would like to know in comments that both affected your viewing of these anime those animation structures and it is seen that the traditional still wins by the way it was represented the crossover between these two anime.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

    Hey there, Hive!✨

Rarely does anything to do with fighting and martial arts catch my attention. It's not really my thing although I can't deny that it can be exciting (sometimes), so when this anime was recommended to me I decided to give it a chance but without too much faith. It ended up with me watching the old adaptation (2001) until I got to the Netflix one (2018)🤣.

Today I will tell you my opinion on this anime in general (both versions) with spoilers!

    Synopsis

Baki Hanma is a young boy who is an exceptional fighter, known for getting into underground fights just to show how strong he is, although perhaps due to his own youth he remains impulsive and somewhat inexperienced.

He was raised by his mother Emi Akezawa who being a millionaire was able to pay for her son's professional training, since her dream is for him to be as incredibly good a fighter as his father, Yujiro Hanma. Baki even after completing professional training fails to catch up with his father, who defeats him again and again. So in order to become better, he goes in search of alternative training...

He will do anything to beat his father

    Baki the grappler

To my great surprise, I really liked this anime. It's not the best of all, but for fighting as its main plot, it is pretty well done. It has elements of fighting and martial arts, which is what the fights are based on, but it also has a lot of fiction because it's obviously an anime, not MMA. There are more realistic fights, others that are completely unrealistic, but what they all have in common is how entertaining and exciting they are.

I also really like that the protagonist doesn't end up being the tall, heavy guy with an extremely imposing physique, that's left to the antagonist. In reality, Baki is short with a good physique from all the rough training, of course, but compared to those he faces, he kinda looks small. That breaks the stereotype that to be the protagonist you have to be the best in every way, just as to be a good fighter you don't need to be huge.

Speaking of the character design, they are all impressive, they all stand out in some way and I think that is precisely what draws attention.

I also really liked that even though the story is not something deep, they added details that allow you to see a little of the character's psychology. It doesn't make it deep, I insist, but it does make it more elaborated than someone who only fights to be the strongest and that's it.

Baki is a boy deeply traumatized by his terrible relationship with his parents, suffering from an avoidant attachment bordering on disorganized, someone who doesn't know how to maintain a healthy relationship, someone who can even be afraid of being too close to another person, even more so of them getting to know too much about him.

The two people who were supposed to take care of him and love him, despised him. His mother used him to be able to win Yujiro's love, even bordering on a somewhat disturbing relationship because for Emi, Baki was her way of having her beloved close, so she wanted to mold him in his image. For Yujiro, his son would never be enough, he was just a hateful insect. He never wanted to be a father, just as he never loved Emi or the creature she fathered. Yujiro is just a capricious beast; an ogre.

I think that little depth in the plot (which if I remember correctly is more explored in the 2001 version) was what made me watch this anime. It is a secondary drama to the main thing, which is the fights, but it is interesting.

On the other hand, the animation can be highlighted. In the case of the 2001 version, it is not bad at all, nor is it something very remarkable, it is simply what was expected for its time. On the other hand, the Netflix adaptation in 2018 makes use of CGI, not everything, but just enough, obviously in the fights, which makes the movements look much more fluid. The only thing I have to criticize about the latest version is that the characters have a very exaggerated design in terms of musculature, which ends up being grotesque in many cases, and I really don't see it as necessary. The previous version showed very muscular guys but not exaggeratedly, which for me looks much better.

Overall, it's a pretty good anime, exciting and with plenty of action. Its story is quite simple but well structured, making you perfectly understand the motivation of each character, which is not only the fight. In this case, the fights are just the means to achieve something bigger and more important.

I think that if you like this type of stories, it's a very well-done and entertaining option to watch. Although I must admit that in the comparison of the two greats, that is, Baki and Kengan Ashura, Kengan is much better... But Baki is good😂 so I recommend it to you.

    ¡Hola, Hive!✨

  3. Mr. Yujiro Hanma you are The Monster@promete0sz755d

    image.png

One knows that an anime or animation has potential when its antagonist has presence, personalities can vary in those that tend more towards the serious but if you can play with humorous traits that humiliate the rest of the characters then I think it's better because it makes the character interaction more appealing to an audience.

Yujiro Hanma is a Monster of character, he is a wild beast with a personality that eats the screen, it provokes to see him, one wants to see how he humiliates his rivals, he is the one who is said to be the strongest and visual, sound and demonic aesthetics give him support to all the previous in the Baki sagas and the incredible thing is that he still has a lot to give.

    image.png

    image.png

If you still do not know him, I recommend you with all my being to see the Baki Saga from the beginning to see the whole sequence and how this character with a striking personality is established, I can not say serious because it is not at all, the boy is playful cat and mouse style in all the splendor of the phrase.

The following are the most striking aspects of the character:

    • The Gift of a Monster:

I really don't know what they fed Yujiro when he was born but whatever it was it had all the protein needed to mold a Monster, even jokingly I wonder if he was born fighting the doctor. The anime itself is known for exaggerating the muscles of the characters to the extreme but Yujiro keeps it balanced which I think is the right thing to do to avoid falling into the funny and grotesque that could be counterproductive.

His physical presence is not one of the most overwhelming in the anime except for a muscular trait that tells us he was born to fight, this is important because each person has skills and flaws that can develop over a lifetime but we always have something in which by nature we excel more than what we are usually born with, it is a gift.

For example many of us are content creators, then a gift we are born with is the imagination that with the tools we can shape it to convey an idea, not everyone is capable of this naturally, the same happens with Yujiro, his gift is to fight and make the most of the martial arts, the detail then is in what are his flaws because I do not see that this monster has any.

    image.png

    image.png

    • A Personality that Humiliates the rest:

What I consider most attractive of the character is this, the way he humiliates the rest and he does it with basis, sincerely I have seen too many braggarts in the anime but we cannot label Yujiro like that because he proves he is the strongest humiliating not only rivals, but also pulverizes with his words his martial arts.

The above is used very well by the author to generate funny moments, in fact that way of behaving so mocking born of the author's intention to make the viewer laugh, is what I notice because for me is a wonder those moments, I have laughed to no end with the jocosities of Yujiro that in fact is often right with what I think about those scenes, this I will mention in more detail in the area with spoilers.

    image.png

    untitled.gif

    • He is not a braggart:

The fact that he humiliates many does not mean he is a braggart because I see shows he is the best BUT if he sees a category rival he will let him know, only of course there are so few who could get to this point that in the anime this trait in his personality could go unnoticed but the man when it is his turn to respect well he does and can even get to slight points of admiration for another fighter.

    • Part of the Review with Spoilers:

He's not a Showoff because of the respect he shows to Muhammad Ali, a good dialogue scene because boy does Baki have boring and eternal dialogue scenes but in this one Yujiro maintains his power while admiring his opponent and that's a point to recognize that at least in my case comes because that one scene alone had my full positive attention.

It humiliates with all propriety to several of the characters including the author of this story because there is an imaginary training between Baki and a Mantis, those chapters the author struggles to give coherence to what he raises to get the idea to the viewer, with all my soul I did not see neither coherence, I didn't see any sense or logic to that absurd training and Yujiro agrees with me because when he laughs at the imaginary mantis, I laugh with him because LORD YUJIRO YOU ARE FUCKING RIGHT and let's laugh together at the stupid things your son Baki does hahahah.

I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.

I am a consumer of this anime and enjoy it, but I am starting to believe that this series is a comedy and a good one.

I tell everyone I recommend watching Baki the same thing, "this anime is for watching without thinking too much". Don't get me wrong, I like this series, but I consider it not to be taken too seriously. Occasionally unintentional humor occurs and sometimes things happen that don't make sense. But still, I'm eagerly and eagerly awaiting the next season on Netflix.

To help you understand me better I will give a couple of examples. On one occasion a character named Katsumi manages to make blows that break the sound barrier, blows that exceed 1234.8 km/h. and he did this only by imagining that he can bend his bones to imitate a whip. We can also see how Biscuit Oliviva is hit by a meteorite and practically comes out unscathed. We can see muscular children, 140 year old martial arts masters and how Yujiro is struck by lightning and doesn't even flinch.

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

Another thing that amused me was the beginning of Pickle's arc. They had discovered one of the greatest discoveries of mankind, a man from the Cretaceous era. And all our protagonists wanted to do was fight him. 😅

To this we must add dialogues that are the art of comedy. Like when Baki meets Pickle for the first time and says, "Fuck, that's beautiful. I knew it, it's exquisite." I don't know if it only happened in the Latin dub, but it's a scene that always gets a laugh out of me and the best part is that it lends itself to many memes.

Another dialogue that I love is when Yujiro is talking to Doppo and tells him that he is in love with his son Baki. I repeat, this series specializes in unintentional humor and lends itself to many memes. I don't know if it is worldwide, but in Latin America when the last season came out, the Internet was full of funny memes.

    4.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

I think this anime is unique in this sense. Apart from giving us epic fights like Baki vs. Yujiro, it gives us quality comedy and humor without breaking the mood. And for me this is worth a lot and it is appreciated.

    5.png

Screenshot taken by me. / Captura de pantalla hecha por mí.

I hope the next season, which I don't know when it will be released, will be as entertaining and funny as the last one. And if you haven't seen Baki, I recommend it. More if you are looking for a simple plot and meaningless fights. For those moments where we want to enjoy without thinking too much, this series is the one.

  5. Baki - review of the second half of the latest season / Baki - recenzja 2 połowy najnowszego sezonu@herosik864d

    baki oku.jpg

Attention! This is a review of the last (at least for now) season. If you don't know this anime, it is an extremely absurd martial arts comedy. A bit like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, but in a different way (I made some simplifications, don't take it too literally). Previous seasons can be watched on Netflix. The manga is still coming out.

We finally got the long-awaited duel between father and son. It was exactly as my friend told me, a bit different than we expected. This is almost the opposite of battle-shounen - the conversation is interrupted by a fight. It is also an opportunity to talk about emotions and difficult issues. I see here references to earlier episodes (I'm not talking about the obvious ones, in the visual sense - I mean references or word games). They are both honest from beginning to end, both about showing their feelings through their movements and about enjoying the moment itself. Initially reluctant, Yujiro quickly understood the true intentions of his unruly son. He actually knew it before the fight, after all, he had prepared the battlefield. He only made sure through it that the decision he made several years ago was right. I'm also not surprised, like my friend Samantha, that some fans and viewers are disappointed. It wasn't quite what I expected, but I'm far from disappointed. Maybe my admiration is a bit exaggerated, but in my opinion it is a perfect way to sum up and solve this difficult relationship. Keisuke Itagaki did it very well. Just as I often complain about the fact that he likes to cut corners, he doesn't make any compromises here. The whole thing is long, full of cool scenes, but the characters talk and look at each other quite often. Usually I complain about too slow pacing, but in this case it didn't bother me at all. My girlfriend, on the other hand, complained and said that "nothing is happening". She was right, but it was supposed to be that way. For me, it was almost perfectly balanced, although I wouldn't complain if it took a little less time.

    B1.jpg

    B2.jpg

On the one hand, I understand their disappointment, but on the other, it seems to me a moderately serious objection. The author never took it too seriously. More than once he built a thread for a long time. He prepared the reader for something powerful, created the right atmosphere... While the resolution of this thread was either comedic or happened so quickly that if you focused on something for 1 or 2 minutes, you could miss it. In this case it was completely different. Itagaki devoted appropriate time to each "layer" of their conflict. He showed how much they differ in terms of skills, strength and technique. Yujiro learned something about his son, we saw mutual tenderness and desire for love. There was also frustration, sadness and joy. And this is one of the proofs that Keisuke Itagaki is a talented author. Although his comic can be described as a stupid series where you can turn off your brain and enjoy the absurdity, the rest of the mentioned emotions are strongly felt. I felt that their feelings, despite their frivolous nature, were very true. Initially, I thought that it would only concern the protagonist, but as the duel progresses, we see that the Ogre is no less an emotional being. He also has his own unresolved problems - either with his father or his son. Or he faces a difficulty that no one else has experienced - being the strongest individual on Earth, which absolutely everyone is afraid of. The ending of their relationship is exactly as satisfying as it was once described to me by a friend who has been following this comic book for a very long time. I can't wait to see the protagonist's further journey, as long as Netflix commissions TMS to create further seasons.

    B3.jpg

    B4.jpg

The second storyline in this season is devoted to Retsu and his boxing career. As usual, I have to praise the author of the manga for combining absurdity with realism. In the sense that some of the things here are true, but they are presented in a completely extreme (and therefore unrealistic) way. However, I don't have too many things to write here, because although I enjoyed watching it, it can be treated as a semi-filler. This segment led nowhere. Okay, Retsu found the answer he was looking for, achieved his goal, and rediscovered himself while fighting the last boxer (at least to some extent). But what else? Probably nothing. Well, we'll probably find out in the next season, and I think Netflix will probably agree to it. I don't know the statistics, but from what I see from the comments on the Internet and the frequency of releasing subsequent seasons (regular release, unlike e.g. Kengan Ashura), it seems to me that at the end of 2025 or in the first quarter of 2026, we will see a fight against the famous Samurai. He, like Pickle, will also come back to life. By the way, his episode in the Father vs. Son fight was cool too!

    B6.jpg

    B7.jpg

To sum up, I recommend this season. Probably the best one so far. I was tempted to watch the entire series from the beginning for the second time. By the way, how could I forget this great line from Yujiro to Barack Obama "You abandoned God and finally started telling the truth." Gold!

    baki oku.jpg

Uwaga!

Autor nigdy go nie robił zbyt poważnie.

Ok, Retsu poznał odpowiedź, której szukał, osiągnął swój cel i odkrył siebie na nowo podczas walki z ostatnim bokserem (przynajmniej w pewnym zakresie). Ale co poza tym? Chyba nic. On podobnie jak Pickle, też wróci do życia.

Chyba najlepszy z dotychczasowych. Aż mnie skusiło, by obejrzeć po raz drugi całą serię od początku. Swoją drogą, jak mogłem zapomnieć ten świetny tekst Yujiro do Barracka Obamy "Porzuciłeś Boga i w końcu zacząłeś mówić prawdę." Złoto!

    baki oku.jpg

Recently, another season of one of the funniest animated comedies I have ever seen appeared on Netflix. The opening itself encouraged me to watch it - the song "The Beast" by Wagakki Band not only perfectly fits the atmosphere of the anime (especially this arc), but in addition, it is VERY good in every respect (beat, composition, perfectly selected instruments , sounds and vocals - the woman has a beautiful voice). Do you know what this reminded me of? Only "Jojo's Bizzare Adventure" had (of the anime I've seen) openings that were pure perfection. Okay, there may have been some anime that had equally successful intros and outros, but no anime had as many of them as JBA or the story about the Son of the Ogre.

This season is a direct continuation of the previous one, only omits the last episode of the previous batch of episodes - the one detached from the main plot. Baki continues to prepare to fight his father, the most powerful being in the world. Yes, creatures, because Yujiro is unbeatable, even the US army lost to him. During its preparations, scientists discovered the first human-like creature, the missing link in human evolution or the progenitor of homo sapiens. He and the T-Rex they were fighting were frozen by the sudden impact of a huge meteorite. When Einstein was explaining what most likely happened at that moment, I immediately remembered the words of Polish YouTubers dealing with science, who also once explained what could have happened then (in short, these were such extreme reactions that we are not able to repeat it - at least for now). As I've said several times, Keisuke Itagaki is inspired by science and real things in many things, but for the sake of the story, he presents them in a completely absurd way so as not to bore the viewer.

    B1.jpg

    B2.jpg

    B3.jpg

Pickle, as the new hero was named, is initially a total savage, but by befriending the US army commander, Yujiro, and his Japanese colleagues, he has become a "civilized savage". That is, one who understands other people better and communicates his thoughts and feelings more effectively. Their friendship is mainly based on fighting, common features and interests. His new friends show him that mass and strength are not the only important factors determining the outcome of a fight, there is also technique. One by one, each of them rushes into battle with a relic of the past to test their strength. Two of them paid the price with part of their body, because Pickle eats his defeated rivals. In his world, he had many worthy opponents, and now he only has humans left... And Siberian Tigers, which they initially fed to Pickle (a brilliant idea, sacrificing one endangered species to save another... People and our short-sightedness), and this one he dealt with them like a grown man dealing with that tiger's little kittens.

    B4.jpg

    B6.jpg

    B5.jpg

And basically the entire season is devoted to a hero from millions of years ago. The father and son thread was pushed into the background, giving way to developing relationships between other characters and more. Orochi Doppo and his son, great story! It had a worse part somewhere in the middle, but apart from that, I have absolutely no complaints. I don't know how I will rate them later, during the second viewing. I liked the previous season very much the first time, but after the second viewing I was disappointed - Keisuke Itagaki, in his style, probably built events for too long and then solved them in the form of a gag or one punch. I also missed a few shots and ideas from Kaiou Kaku's fight with Yujiro that were cut out (e.g. Yujiro punching so hard he stopped GPS's all over the world or something like that). This season seems to be better - there were not so many boring moments when nothing happened. On the one hand, it's not a flaw, after all, it's a "stupid" series that you watch or read for relaxation, but on the other, it's a bit tiring during the second viewing. Therefore, I will not rate this season - it was better than the previous one, and I rated that one inappropriately high...

    B7.jpg

    B8.jpg

    B10.webp

To sum up, if you liked the previous seasons, you shouldn't complain about this one. The latest package of 13 episodes is probably the most perfected by the animators. In terms of music, I liked the first season more, mainly thanks to the soundtrack, because I don't know how I will evaluate the new OP and ED after many years (I still listen to "Beastful" and "The Gong of Knockout", although they don't give me that much fun , which was a few years ago, but I still like them very much). The ending was very creative, the song perfectly matched the atmosphere of the anime, it is pleasant to listen to and watch, watching the world around the Caveman develop. I've seen this approach twice in the anime, but I liked this version the most. By the way, Barrack Obama and Yujiro Hanma's conversation is fucking gold XD. "I solemnly swear by God that the government of the United States of America will not disturb Yujiro Hanma" XD. and these mockery of the President, their customs, etc. I literally cried with laughter, but Keisuke Itagaki has a head full of very good ideas. Ok, sometimes he exaggerates them, cuts some of them in half like Togashi, but develops and ends some of them in an inventive way, with little effort. This season, it was a really nice thread about the father's relationship with the system, which, although it is exaggerated, no mature series would be proud of it.

So now we are waiting for the fight between the Father and the Son. I know what it will look like more or less and it looks very cool, especially when they show... A cool new character that you will probably like. And at the same time, we will get the real fight of the year - Gaolang Wongsawat vs Kanoh Agito.

    baki oku.jpg

On i T-Rex z którym toczyli walkę, zostali zamrożeni przez nagłe uderzenie olbrzymiego meteorytu.

Dwóch z nich przypłaciło to częścią swojego ciała, bo Pickle zjada swoich pokonanych rywali. W swoim świecie, miał wielu godnych oponentów, a obecnie pozostali mu tylko ludzie... No i Tygrysy Syberyjskie, którymi początkowo karmili Pickla (genialny pomysł, poświęcić jeden zagrożony gatunek, by ratować drugi...

    B4.jpg

    B6.jpg

    B5.jpg

No i w zasadzie cały sezon podporządkowany jest bohaterowi sprzed milionów lat.

Swoją drogą, rozmowa Barracka Obamy i Yujiro Hanmy to pieprzone złoto XD.

No to teraz czekamy na walkę Ojca z Synem.

  8. Opinión de la nueva secuela del anime Baki Hanma || Review of the new sequel to the anime Baki Hanma@franz541025d

    image.png Fuente | Source

    ~ Baki

I'm very happy to be back to share my content in this community. I'm a big fan of manga and their adaptations to the screen (animated series), and what better to come back with my reviews with one of the latest anime I've watched on Netflix, Baki Hanma, a sequel to the original anime called Baki. This anime was recommended to me by a very best friend. At first it didn't catch my attention, but one day I agreed with @loperdt to watch the anime and the truth is that I had a pleasant surprise, this anime exceeded my expectations and in this post I will tell you my opinion according to the experience.
Baki Hamna is an animated series based on the manga written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It is of the genre of action, martial arts, adventure and even with some sport tournaments that take place. At the beginning Baki didn't really convince me, but little by little I got more and more into this series. This review is based on the anime released by Netflix in 2021, in addition to the second season that came out this year. To be honest this kind of anime is not my favorite, I like more fantasy, as is the case of Naruto which is also focused on martial arts, but with a totally different story. I also like Isekai productions where one or more characters end up in a parallel world, either intentionally (provoked or accidental), as is the case of Hero of the Shield, one of my favorite anime of the last time. But even though Baki didn't catch my attention, it's always important to give anime a chance, since you might like the story or at least have a good time.
The story of the anime I'm talking about (Baki Hanma), is about a boy who practices martial arts and wants to become the strongest man in the world, regardless of the consequences. This desire is based mainly because he wants to surpass his father, Yujiro Hanma, who is also known as the Ogre, for his great strength, that even with just his presence he can intimidate everyone, being this one of the things that impressed me the most in the anime. The Ogre and Baki without a doubt my favorite characters. The main reason for this last mentioned is that because of the will they have to never give up and every time they want to surpass themselves to become the best. In the destiny of these two is the confrontation between them, to once and for all know who is the best, if the luckiest man in the world (Yujiro) or the strongest boy in the world (Baki).
"If a person is born a man, at least once in his life, he will dream of becoming the strongest man in the world." ~ Baki

Now, this sequel to the original series was divided into two seasons. The first season tells us with Baki wants to surpass his father, he has an obsession for this, and for this he must travel to the United States, specifically to the Arizona State Prison to face a man who is really strong, known as MR or Mr. Unchained. Throughout this new arc many things happen, there are a series of confrontations between several of the main or secondary characters of the animated series and each time we can realize the great respect they have for the Ogre and Baki who is also earning it little by little, not in vain is considered the strongest boy in the world, despite his young age and short stature, but of great courage and great conviction in their goals.
The second season is even more unreal because the new arc is divided in two. The first chapters are based on a new character that appears, called Pickle by the scientists, since this new character is a man from prehistoric times (Cretaceous), from the time of the dinosaurs, who was preserved in a cave covered with ice. Pickle woke up after millions of years asleep, he was an extraordinarily strong man and this is because he had to face very fierce creatures such as dinosaurs, managing to survive at that time. All the fighters in Baki's world wanted to face him since they all had a common goal, which was to be the strongest in the world. Even our protagonist Baki faced Pickle, being an epic battle that I will never forget.
The second part of season 2 of Baki Hanma deals with the long awaited fight between father and son, which brings the story to an end, although we know that new plots can always emerge to extend the story even more. Will the confrontation take place? Who will be the winner and the winner of the title of the strongest man in the world? Baki or Yujiro Hanma? are some of the questions we can ask throughout the installment, but to see the outcome I invite you to watch this animated series.

What did I think about the arcs of the new Baki Hanma sequel? It is certainly not perfect, even at times it was very slow, a lot of dialogues and less action, which made the anime tedious at times, but in the battles the adrenaline was going to a thousand to know who would be the winner of these big ones, plus it always told the story of each of the characters who were in battle, why they became so strong and how they became what they were at that time, which is appreciated because you can be more connected to the story that we are being told. Another positive point of the plot is the fact that yes of course the series is called Baki and is mainly focused on this character and the fight with his father, but it also takes into account the other characters, the story is not only told from the perspective of Baki, so you can further exploit the stories of these fighters.
As far as the animations and the soundtrack of the anime are concerned, it can be said that they did an excellent job, I even like the way the characters were drawn and how the scenes were recreated. The detail of the characters was very high, so I think this sequel was much better than the original series. The series is censored but you can see a lot of blood, since it is a martial arts production, with even Kung Fu fighters, boxing and other modalities. I liked the music, each scene where music appeared was very appropriate to the moment, be it tension, action, joy, despair, among other things. Now, something annoying in the second season was the fact that always the fights and what was happening in the anime was being told by a narrator, someone was telling what happened while the scenes were happening. The latter was not entirely to my liking, but I still enjoyed this anime and its two seasons streamed on the Netflix platform.
    Final Opinion
These last two seasons of Baki published by Netflix I could enjoy them, but I think the series is not perfect, not even close to it, even I do not consider it to be among my manga adaptations, especially because of the genre that is about rowdy characters who love to fight, they want to be the best no matter who gets in their way, but it also has many positive things that can also make us connect many with the story. Sometimes there are anime that don't call our attention at first sight, but they can surprise us pleasantly and this is the case of Baki Hanma, you can't miss how this story between the strongest man and young man in the world, father and son, ends. If I had to rate this anime I would give it a 7.

  9. "Baki" a review without big spoilers@herosik1592d

    Baki 4 oku ENG.jpeg

I finally got another season of one of my favorite comedies. If you don't know "Baki" by some miracle, here's a short summary for you - imagine a total parody of anime, martial arts movies, martial arts itself, in which everything is possible. Absolutely fucking all, Baki is even crazier than the 4 seasons of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. A normal screenwriter would have gotten rid of all ideas a long time ago, and a comic book writer spouts them out as if he were a fountain chilling people on a hot day. Of course, not every joke is successful, sometimes they repeat themselves, sometimes they are too much over the top and cause more cringe or anger (e.g. duels that are preceded by a very long conversation and then end in one hit), but nonetheless I can call him a virtuoso of abstraction, creativity and humor. Or at least I don't think I am abusing me here. We are talking about Keisuke Itagaki, the father of the author of "Beastars", which I also recommend - although it is more for fans of psychology, interpersonal relations, showing human characteristics and behavior patterns on the example of animals, e.g. rabbits like sex, carnivores have limitations, such as too much. aggressive people in the form of the law. If you like cartoons for older audiences, animals and are interested in psychology, this is the title for you. "Baki" is its opposite, it is an absurd comedy that makes fun of patterns from other comics, action movies with overly muscular warriors and jokes about martial arts. There are many real elements that I have read about throughout my life, but they are presented in such an absurd and exaggerated form that they cannot be taken seriously.

    BBaki 1.jpg

The plot of this season tells about the duel of the strongest creature in the world and his son, one of the greatest contenders for this position. It was no coincidence that I used this word - there is no creature in the world that can kill Yujiro Hanma. He is a master of all martial arts (or at least one of the best fighters), not stupid, but a creative and ruthless motherfucker who will not hesitate to use a painful provocation or a cruel punch. Plus, it's a walking mountain of muscle you've never seen before. Slayer of a giant elephant the size of a dinosaur, an ogre swimming in a pool in which water flows at a speed of over 20 km / h. And this is what Baki Hanma, the best bastard of a giant who has a dispute with the old man and wants to explain a few things to him with his fists and legs, is about to fight it. The whole season is dedicated to this duel - we see both players getting ready for it, how people from all over the world are waiting and fearing the consequences. After all, Yujiro "hit" his main opponent so hard during the Tournament that GPSs all over the planet broke (this scene did not appear in the anime). Overall it's pretty good, but I was expecting something better. Don't get me wrong, the individual jokes and witty situations were very funny to me, I was generally happy after each episode (albeit to varying degrees), but you know what it is like - the appetite grows with eating. I had fairly high expectations, but luckily quite moderate (for me), so I wasn't overly disappointed. The anime came to a halt at such a point that if this is going to be an entire finished season (not 1-cour) then ... well, I'll be angry. If it's the first half, that's cool - I don't mind. Nevertheless, I was expecting more fights, a better plot and character development, and in both cases we didn't go very far.

    BBaki 2 .jpg

Starting from the beginning, the thread about Shadow Boxing and Baki's skills was great and the author made a lot of accurate insights in it. For example, about muscle memory, mental preparation for combat through simulations, the possibilities of insects and their skills. All of this is true - insects have great potential for their small size. You can talk about muscle memory with drivers with many years of experience, e-sportsmen or people of my age who like to return to old games, warriors - some things can be forgotten, e.g. my brain has forgotten surprisingly many elements from the games of my youth or teenage period, but the body remembered. I don't remember what it was for, etc. but the fingers and hands automatically do the right thing. When it comes to simulations, the matter is simple - training in a flight simulator, and in the case of soldiers - training, for example, landing on objects imitating real combat operations. However, as I wrote before, they are either too exaggerated or we do not know whether, for example, insects would retain their natural properties, if they were significantly increased. However, if we treat it as a curiosity, thanks to which we learn something new, my objection to it disappears. The fight with the mantis, as well as the whole short stage that starts the anime, turned out well and I have only one complaint - too sparing animation and few effective scenes.

    BBaki 3.jpg

On the one hand, prison was better, but on the other hand, it felt like everything was happening too slowly. It seems to me that the series would lose nothing if half the content was posted there (because I assume that this is not the end of this arc yet, and even if - they could throw in 1, 2 episodes of another for encouragement). However, he could gain a lot, because since he does not contribute much to the plot, at least he could pass faster. I liked the new characters, even the episodic ones - the George Bush parody and this pirate were great! The first for (some) accurate jokes, general comedy. The latter had an interesting fighting style, good personality and a very good (for this type of comedy) genesis. I liked the combination of politics and martial arts in this country. An interesting ideology guided its creator - to become the most dangerous group without using any weapons. And gags - jokes about GPS tracking the most powerful people, navigation apps, politics. In that respect it was very good as always. I love this man's imagination!

    BBaki 4.jpg

How is it in terms of graphics? Well, the whole anime is sparse in terms of animation, I haven't seen a single longer scene that made a really big impression on me. In the previous one, there were several, not one here. Nothing new, Netflix anime are not famous for being too well animated, but after so many episodes I was expecting something better. Indeed, the anime looks really nice (one of Netflix's better drawn anime, if not the best, although I prefer a lower level at the expense of spectacular scenes, as in the previous season), but comparing the beginning of the saga with the Raitai Grand Tournament, I feel a bit disappointed. At least something was going on there, and this season they are talking even more than before. I know that the author of the comic is joking with us, but while in the manga it does not bother you (because I assume that you read a chapter in a few minutes, which is a feature of this type of comics), here you could throw a bit more stuff for everyone episode. Well, this applies to the script and the pace of the action, not the lines and the animation, so ... The duel with the mantis could have been more dynamic, not so static. The fights in prison were better, but none of them impressed me. I skip single scenes in which Oliva shows us some of his power - his 1 hit ko hits are always impressive. It is not the level of previous seasons (or at least for me those were better), but in this matter I have no reason to complain. I also missed a brilliant episode, one that would at least make a strong impression on me from the very beginning and keep me like that until the very end .. Like the one that opened the previous season, which I have already watched 8 times. Mastery in every respect - climate, direction, pace of action, amount of content, fights. Here I missed it, I got a collection of nice, sometimes good episodes Or should I say correctly created episodes with good or very good moments.

    BBaki 5.jpg

I deluded myself to the very end that we would get at least one dynamic and longer fight, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Itagaki exaggerates with this joke that we see a long preparation for a fight that is short or not full of action. Fortunately, my expectations weren't high, so the disappointment wasn't too depressing either. It's still a very funny comedy, as long as you like that type of humor. If you don't feel it, most of the fun is lost, and therefore the sense of watching. So let me put it this way - if you like absurd, cleverly written parody in a goofy style, you don't mind ass-pulle, as big as Oliva's or Yujiro's muscles, I recommend it. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. As for me +6/10.

  10. "Baki" S4 - recenzja bez dużych spoilerów@herosik1602d

    Baki 4 oku POL.jpeg

No, będę zły.

Polubiłem nowe postacie, nawet te epizodyczne - parodia George'a Busha i ten pirat byli świetni! No i gagi - żarty z GPS-ami śledzącymi najpotężniejszych ludzi, aplikacjami służącymi do nawigacji, te dotyczące polityki.

  11. Baki Season 2 Review (2018)@osakaghoul2224d

    ▶️ Watch on 3Speak

The Next part in Baki saga has finally surfaced in #Netflix, i did notice that bit too late though otherwise this review would have come out yesterday already. This continues where the first netflix season left off the Great Chinese Raitei Tournament.

Overall it was okay season, they dropped completely 3D animation apparently and now its just fully drawn from start to finish. The OST stayed the same, paired up with new OP & ED, which i wasn't fazed by, totally forgettable tracks. Next season could vastly improve things however, so i am looking forward to it.

  12. Baki (Netflix Anime) - I'll keep watching for now@gooddream2752d

So due to a random decision that Netflix made for me I ended up with a bunch of Anime suggestions on my homepage or whatever it is called. I am not a fan of Anime (yet) I mean, i don't seek it out. I have no idea why Netflix made this choice for me. I sincerely hope that it wasn't because I recently wrote the article about Final Fantasy: Advent Children because I don't like the idea of that sort of spying, even if it is helpful. Anyway, this is about Baki.

    BAKI

There isn't much I can possibly spoil about this because I don't yet know much about it. However, so far I am reasonably entertained because the art is good and I like the way that the story is told in snippets, kind of like a comic book, in order to keep things moving very quickly. We are introduced to "Baki" who is in high school and there is some sort of affliction that is affecting everyone around him but for whatever reason it doesn't affect him. It isn't explained and then all of a sudden it is gone - which was strange but whatever. We then see Baki in the principal's office to meet a VIP visitor who is someone who is famous for arranging underground arena fights of some sort. I can kind of see where this is going.

This visitor explains to Baki stories about criminals from all over the planet who have recently broken free from their cells with relative ease. A few of them were actually given the death penalty and both a hanging, and the electric chair were applied (to 2 separate people) and they both survived and then broke out of prison (this isn't a spoiler, it is quite evident this is going to happen in the show.)

    maxresdefault.jpg source

The action is pretty gruesome and bloody and the fact that people are fluent in Japanese all over the world is a lot of fun. I'm not gonna get hung up on that, it's Anime after all. Some of the translation work is pretty funny because it almost makes sense. You need to read between the lines during a few of the encounters.

I think i will continue to watch this series because it really is easy to follow since they really keep things moving at a fast pace.

I think people who have very little patience for long, drawn out story-lines and want things to just get moving will probably appreciate this show. People who don't like animated stuff or reading subtitles might not like it. I haven't watched enough to really rate this show but so far, I am intrigued and can recommend at least giving it a look.

  23. Baki 2018 Anime Review #19@filotasriza32849d

Another Anime Review Is About To Begin!

Baki 2018 General Info That Nobody Cares But Should!

Baki 2018 is a martial arts anime that aired at June 25 2018 by Netflix. The studio behind is called TMS Entertainment and is famous for anime like D.Gray Man, Lupin, Detective Conan and many more. It will have 26 episodes that last 23 minutes each and in general the anime is quite popular as it have a couple of prequels.

    Plot

First of all in order to watch Baki 2018 you should watch Baki The Grappler that date back to 2001! The basic plot you need to know regarding the previous anime, is that Baki is the son of Yuujirou who considers to be the strongest fighter in the world.

Due to some circumstances that i can't reveal to you now as it will consider a bit of spoiler, Baki aims to become a fighter that can surpass and beat his father. For that reason he is doing all kinds of different training and in the end he joins the underground martial arts tournament in where the top martial artists gathered and fight in an arena without any special rules.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghpb7E-A1sU

    trailer

The only rule is not to use weapons and aside from that they can easily break body parts and even "kill". The winner is considered to be the strongest fighter. In there we gonna meet some awesome characters with unique martial art styles.

Baki 2018 takes place after the underground tournament and what happens is that 5 death row convicts that apparently have never taste defeat gather in the city where Baki live in order to finally find a challenge. Some of the best fighter of the underground tournament also join the fight and we get to see some intense fighting sense between the 2 "factions"

    Is It Worth?

The simple answer is YES. Now let me explain a bit further as to why i think that. First of all, in the first Baki anime we get to see intense fights in where legs & hands break and people completely destroyed. Now the fight scenes are more brutal and in a way you can say it's a development and an evolution for the anime.

Now, there are no rules as those 5 consider that a fighter should always ready to fight and as such they literally go anywhere to fight and use whatever they can, like knives, threads and even lighters. The fights are way more brutal than the first one and obviously the animation is way better than the one in 2001.

The only drawback i can see, is that sometimes they use CGI which is basically crappy and that way we really miss some good scenes!
