Smile is my first official review of horror movies in this community. The reason is very simple, because since I was a child I started with a taste for this genre of cinema but as the years went by, I felt that horror movies were not as scary as they used to be.
That's why since I've been writing in this beautiful community, I had never written any review of horror movies, I only wrote about a personal experience.
My first horror movie was The Exorcist by Linda Blair, at the age of 5 years old (I have already mentioned this before), I saw it by accident and I liked it, after a while I saw the trailer with that black and white image that was banned in some theaters because it was very scary, as well as some scenes.
After that, I saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Hoop and so on, I started liking horror movies.
Smile es mi primera reseña oficial del cine del terror en esta comunidad. La razón es muy sencilla, porque desde niña comencé con un gusto por este género del cine pero a medida que pasaron los años, sentí que el cine del terror ya no era tan aterrador como lo era antes.
Por eso desde que escribo en esta hermosa comunidad, nunca había escrito alguna reseña del cine del terror, solo escribí sobre una experiencia personal.
Mi primera película de terror fue El Exorcista de Linda Blair, a la edad de 5 años (esto ya lo he mencionado antes), la vi por accidente y me gustó, después de un tiempo me vi el tráiler con aquella imagen a blanco y negro que fue prohibida en algunos cines ya que era muy aterrador, así como algunas escenas.
Luego de eso, me vi El Exorcismo de Emily Rose, El Aro y así, sucesivamente me fue gustando el cine del terror.
Eventually, horror movies no longer paralyzed me, so then I started watching Paranormal Stories, that had a lot of what I liked. In fact, I had my own paranormal moments.
Then I watched some Asian movies, very scary indeed.
Until finally and after many years, someone recommended me to see Smile, I had already said how disappointed I was in horror movies, so well, after seeing The Black Telephone and feeling much more disappointed, nothing could be worse.
I decided to see it and that's why I'm here, to tell you about this feature film that first of all, managed to capture my attention, why? Because it starts in a hospital 🏥 and by itself, hospitals are already scary hahahaha, even more if it's an Emergency Psychiatric Center.
And if you don't believe me, it's because you haven't been in one of them in the wee hours of the morning with those long, cold, silent corridors, where anything can happen, except peace and quiet.
Con el tiempo, las películas de terror ya no me paralizaban, así que luego comencé a ver Historias Paranormales, eso tenía mucho de lo que me gustaba. De hecho, tuve mis propios momentos paranormales.
Luego me vi algunas películas asiáticas, muy terroríficas por cierto.
Hasta que finalmente y después de muchos años, una persona me recomendó ver Smile, ya había dicho lo decepcionada que estaba del cine del terror así que bueno, después de ver El Teléfono Negro y sentirme mucho más decepcionada, nada podría ser peor.
Me animé a verla y por eso estoy aquí, para hablarles sobre este largometraje que de primera, logró captar mi atención, ¿Porqué? Porque comienza en un hospital 🏥 y de por sí, ya los hospitales dan miedo jajajaja, aún más si es un Centro Psiquiátrico de Emergencia.
Y si no me creen es porque no han estado en uno de ellos en horas de la madrugada con esos pasillos largos, fríos, silenciosos, donde todo puede pasar, menos paz y tranquilidad.
During the time I studied and practiced Pre-Hospital Emergency, I realized that it was nothing compared to what you see on the streets to what you see inside a Hospital, as a paramedic you can witness all kinds of chaos and shocking events but in a Hospital 🏥 everything is more chilling.
I once saw a schizophrenic person being admitted to the emergency area and it was strange. Some people laughed, but I was not amused, just curious.
As I have always loved psychology and it was always my dream to study that profession. For reasons of the situation of the country I had given it up but even if the possibility or opportunity appeared, I would do it, it is never too late. So as the human mind makes me very curious, I started taking online courses in psychiatry and psychology.
Dark psychology was one of the ones that kept me more focused. I always research, read, search and dig into everything I am passionate about, always looking for more and more, that's why the story of this movie grabbed me from the beginning. I didn't see the trailer or any review before watching it.
So from the moment it started, it obviously grabbed me.
I tell you this because what you are going to see here in this movie is about traumas, disorders, a dark past that left my mouth open when I got to the end when I discovered part of the story.
En el tiempo que estudié y ejercí Emergencias Pre-Hospitalarias, me di cuenta que no era nada comparado ver lo que se ve en las calles a lo que se ve dentro de un Hospital, como paramédico puedes presenciar todo tipo de caos y sucesos impactantes pero, en un Hospital 🏥 todo es más escalofriante.
Una vez vi como ingresaban a una persona esquizofrénica a la zona de emergencia y fue extraño. Algunas personas se reían, pero a mí no me causó gracia, sino curiosidad.
Como siempre he amado la psicología y siempre fue mi sueño estudiar esa profesión. Por motivos de situación del país lo había desistido pero aún si me aparece la posibilidad u oportunidad lo haría, nunca es tarde. Así que como la mente humana me da mucha curiosidad, comencé a tomar cursos online de psiquiatría y psicología.
La psicología oscura era una de las que me mantenía más concentrada. Siempre investigo, leo, busco e indago en todo lo que me apasiona, siempre busco más y más, es por eso que la historia de esta película me atrapó desde un principio. No vi el tráiler ni ninguna reseña antes de verla.
Así que desde que comenzó, evidentemente me atrapó.
Les comento esto porque lo que van a ver aquí en esta película trata sobre los traumas, trastornos, un pasado oscuro que me dejó boca abierta cuando llegué casi al final de la película que fue que descubrí parte de la historia.
It all starts in a Psychiatric Emergency Center, I love that most of the first scenes were developed in that place and to give it a touch not so boring, as in the case of The Black Telephone, they set the other scenes in different places.
Which makes it very entertaining and manages to keep you glued to each scene without blinking. In the movie, it doesn't matter if it's day or night because at any moment you can get a good scare.
And speaking of scares, this movie contains many of them, the famous screamer or jumpscare that just make you jump out of your chair or wherever you are sitting or lying down, hahahaha I admit that I did jump several times even when I knew or suspected that one was coming, so if you want to feel your body jumping from the scare, this movie is excellent.
But not only does it contain pure scares, it also contains a lot of suspense and scenes that can be a little creepy that make your skin crawl obviously.
What caught my attention is the paranormal part and the plot, it's not just scares, sounds, suspense. It has a very credible plot and very well developed, at no time does it lose sense to the story and always makes you wait for that what will happen? so long awaited.
It is a plot that makes a lot of sense and if you get into the film is quite credible and even has a lot of logic even if it contains paranormal events. Everything develops from the trauma.
Todo comienza en un Centro Psiquiátrico de Emergencias, me encanta que la mayoría de las primeras escenas fueran desarrolladas en ese lugar y para darle un toque no tan aburrido, como el caso de El Teléfono Negro, ambientaron las demás escenas en diferentes lugares.
Lo que lo hace muy entretenido y logra mantenerte pegado a cada escena sin pestañar. En la película, no importa si es de día o de noche ya que en cualquier momento puedes llevarte un buen susto.
Y hablando de sustos, está película contiene muchos de ellos, los famosos screamer o jumpscare que sólo te hacen saltar de la silla o de donde estés sentado o acostado, jajajaja admito que sí brinqué varias veces aún cuando sabía o sospechaba que venía uno, así que si quieres sentir como tu cuerpo brinca del susto, está película es excelente.
Pero no sólo contiene puros sustos, sino también mucho suspenso y escenas que pueden ser algo espeluznante que te hacen erizar la piel evidentemente.
Lo que me llamó la atención es la parte paranormal y la trama, no es solamente sustos, sonidos, suspenso. Tiene una trama bastante creíble y muy bien desarrollada, en ningún momento pierde sentido a la historia y siempre te hace esperar ese ¿qué pasará? Tan esperado.
Es una trama con mucho sentido y que si te metes en la película es bastante creíble e inclusive tiene mucha lógica aún cuando contenga sucesos paranormales. Todo se desarrolla a partir del trauma.
SYNOPSIS
Dr. Rose Cotter, played by actress Sosie Bacon, witnesses a traumatic and horrible incident in one of her patients, from that moment everything changes for her, what she thought was a simple trauma, becomes a complete nightmare of terror. Feeling invaded by the fear of some paranormal events, she goes in search of answers and it is where she begins a long investigation that ends in her past and which she must face and end with it if she wants to survive.

La Dra. Rose Cotter, interpretado por la actriz Sosie Bacon, es testigo de un traumático y horrible incidente en uno de sus pacientes, desde ese momento todo cambia para ella, lo que creía fuera un simple trauma, se convierte en una completa pesadilla del terror. Al sentirse invadida por el miedo por algunos sucesos paranormales, va en busca de respuestas y es donde comienza con una larga investigación que termina en su pasado y del cual debe enfrentar y acabar con ello si quiere sobrevivir.
Smile is a very good, fresh and recommendable film for everything that horror movies have been showing us. It was long overdue to see this kind of horror. Although I admit that director Parker Finn has left me wanting more about this film, lacking in my opinion, a touch more scary to be perfect.
But other than that, he has left us a good content that as I said is not only scary and suspenseful, but contains a good story which gives it that touch of realism and interest to continue watching it and not leave it halfway through the film.
In addition to the story of Dr. Rose, talking about her personal life in the plot of the film, made me feel helpless at times and at the same time with a lump in my throat, because at the time when she is involved in everything that possesses and experiences, just the person next to her and those closest to her fail to understand and help her.
In fact, she is alone fighting against her past and against everything she has, but there is that person who helps her, that person who manages to understand her and besides that, cares about her well-being, it is the only beautiful thing about the plot despite everything else.
Smile es una película que para todo lo que el cine del terror ha estado mostrándonos, es muy buena, fresca y recomendable. Ya hacía falta ver este tipo de terror. Aunque admito que El director Parker Finn me ha dejado con ganas de más sobre esta película, faltándole según mi opinión, un toque más tenebroso como para quedar perfecta.
Pero fuera de eso, nos ha dejado un buen contenido que como les dije no es sólo miedo y suspenso, sino que contiene una buena historia lo cual le da ese toque de realismo e interés por seguir viéndola y no dejarla a medio rodaje.
Además que en la historia de la Dra. Rose, hablando de su vida personal en la trama de la película, me hizo sentir por momentos impotente y a la vez con un nudo en la garganta, ya que en el momento en que ella se ve envuelta en todo lo que la posee y experimenta, justamente la persona que tiene a su lado y sus más allegados no logran entenderla ni ayudarla.
De hecho, se ve sola luchando contra su pasado y contra todo lo que tiene, pero existe esa persona que la ayuda, esa persona que logra comprenderla y además de eso, se preocupa por su bienestar, es lo único bonito de la trama pese a todo lo demás.
Well but before I finish, I couldn't miss my Smile 😁 so I had to try it even though it doesn't cause me any fear hahahahaha. But at least I had fun doing it, so here I leave you all my filter attempts with my Smile hahahahaha. The original one I'll keep it. It is very real and terrifying.
Bueno pero antes de terminar, no podía faltar mi Smile 😁 así que debía intentarlo aunque no me cause nada de miedo jajajaja. Pero por lo menos me he divertido haciéndolo, así que aquí les dejo todos mis intentos de filtro con mi Smile jajajaja. El original sí me lo guardo. Es muy real y terrorífico.
Do I recommend it?
Definitely yes, for lovers of horror movies with good plots, this is a detodito as we say here, all together, in one movie. So if you haven't seen it yet, I hope you do.
I recommend it especially to @sarybeth as I know she will like it. I would have wanted to watch it together, but just imagine I'm there when you watch it, smiling with you hahahahaha.
I started watching it with my niece Valentina but she left me alone and it was the best, because with her jumping around she made me more scared hahaha.

Definitivamente sí, para los amantes del cine del terror con buenas tramas, esto es un detodito como le decimos acá, todo junto, en una sola película. Así que si aún no la han visto, espero lo hagan.
La recomiendo en especial a @sarybeth ya que sé le va a gustar. Hubiera querido verla juntas, pero igual imagina estoy allá cuando la veas, sonriendo contigo jajajaja.
La comencé a ver con mi sobrina Valentina pero me dejó sola y fue lo mejor, porque con sus brincos me hacía asustar más jajaja.
