The Gifted Episode 3 Review – No Spoilers

This episode was a good one. Yet somehow this show doesn’t really make we want to binge watch all the episodes I missed. It touches on difficult themes very effectively, but also in a way that curbed my enthusiasm about the next episode.

The beginning of the episode provided the only fun scene of the episode. Polaris and Eclipse discussing what they did with their powers when they first discovered them. Obviously, you have fun with them. It was a pretty cool scene. It also shows a kitschy, we are in love scene in a very cute, original way.

Sometimes when you see a superhero/superpowered TV show you forget that it takes place in America. In this episode, it was clear that the episode was taking place in America. Yes, I am talking about civilians carrying so many heavy weapons and acting like the police doesn’t exists. If the show wanted to add a gun regulation agenda to its themes, it checked that box with this episode.

Reed Strucker learns the hard way that all mutants are people and not just his family. Poor Polaris wants to get out of jail in anyway possible and Eclipse wants her out at any price. Everyone wants to break Reed and Polaris out of jail, but it’s easier said than done.

I have a feeling that it is Dreamer’s decision that will cause the most cringe worthy intrigues. I am hoping that they will not be cringe worthy, but I am just not liking the actress who plays Blink. At least not in this episode that shined a spotlight on her.

Also, it’s hard to believe that anyone can be as naïve as Kate was in this episode. Do you really not understand how people in your world feel about mutants? I mean you live in it. Also, why did the writers have to do that to the character, she seemed to be developing so nicely in the previous episode.

All in all it was an alright episode. We are clearly building up towards a jail break which I hope will come soon.

I give it 7/10

They started taking the episodes out of order. It was very confusing. I am not sure what happened to the US broadcast schedule, but I gave up on the series when they started screwing up the episode order.
