The Gifted Episode 5 Review – No Spoilers

This show has really grown on me. Despite clearly being low budget, the vey x-men themes that it brings up are really interesting. The interesting conflicts are shown best in this episode. How far is too far when it comes to defending yourself. Is what Polaris and Dreamer wrong? Or a necessary evil? Is there such thing as a necessary evil? These conflicts are what make mutants so interesting. That and their cool powers, but we get less of that here. Also, we don’t get to see them use it in any fun way.

This episode also gave us some actually interesting background to the world that this show takes in. Some good world building is always good for a show, it’s credibility and our general enjoyment of it. The best thing about it, is that this means there a lot more to explore in this world. Looks like we will be doing the exploring along with our main characters. Which is pretty cool. Even Kate Strucker, my least favorite character on the show, got a moment to shine. Still, her kids are a lot more interesting than her, and they become more interesting with every episode.

I’m really happy with the direction this show is taking.

I give it 8/10
