It is quite obvious for those who have read my posts regarding the second season of Euphoria throughout these weeks: I think it is a spectacular series... from its aesthetic to its performances, through its thematic density and how well constructed its conflicts are, it is a work that hides a lot of quality in a teenage drama costume (although it really isn't).
"The Theater and it's Double" and "All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name" are the last pieces in this story, pieces that share certain structural similarities and stand as a couple as one of the best closures of season that I have seen in many years, two chapters that supply positive and negative emotions in almost excessive amounts.
Although Euphoria has always been characterized as a visual spectacle, its true appeal lies in the crudeness with which it decides to approach certain sensitive topics: the use of drugs, alcohol, violence and sexuality... Although on paper it seems to be a engine to shock the viewer reality could not be further from this, Euphoria does not sweeten its crudeness to make it attractive but to force us to plunge into its self-destructive spiral.
Its season finale? Quite bitterly, he decides to take the conflicts to an exaggerated scale and selects which plot points he wants to resolve and which ones he doesn't, although this leaves the viewer in a state of frustration and undeniable sadness (It has been seen in the public response) it also ends up being very effective to close this portion of the story in a very focused way, although this approach does not seek to please us.
The seventh chapter, for example, served as a very well measured prelude where, although objectively the story did not advance psychologically, all the characters had to deal with the consequences of their actions. Lexie's work serves as a meta-narrative device that intelligently revives the events of the series (those we observe as viewers and those that chronologically occurred before the first season), refreshing our memory and organizing all the pieces as if they were a chessboard for its tragic outcome.
The unexpected platonic relationship that won the love of the entire internet since the first episode of season 2 (Fez and Lexie) served as the vessel for this state of strange calm, a state that would be followed by one of the most heartbreaking events in all of history. series, as if it were a modern Game of Thrones.
Euphoria continues to deliver quality and I'm not only sad for everything that happened in this episode, but for having to wait until 2024 to continue this story, maybe this third season is the ideal time to end it? I like to think so, but time will tell.
For now, we can only appreciate what they gave us, a solid product that finds time for everything.

Es bastante obvio para aquellos que hayan leído mis post respecto a la segunda temporada de Euphoria a lo largo de estas semanas: Me parece una serie espectacular... desde su apartado estético hasta sus actuaciones, pasando por su densidad temática y lo bien construidos que están sus conflictos, es una obra que esconde en un disfraz de drama adolescente (Aunque realmente no lo sea) muchísima calidad.
"The Theater and it's Double" y "All My Life, My Heart Has Yearned for a Thing I Cannot Name" son las últimas piezas de esta historia, piezas que comparten ciertas similitudes estructurales y se erigen en pareja como uno de los mejores cierras de temporada que he visto en muchos años, dos capítulos que suministran emociones positivas y negativas en cantidades casi excesivas.
Aunque Euphoria siempre se ha caracterizado por ser un espectáculo visual su verdadero atractivo se encuentra en la crudeza con la que decide abordar ciertos temas delicados: el uso de drogas, el alcohol, la violencia y la sexualidad... Aunque en papel pareciera ser un motor para impactar al espectador la realidad no podría estar más alejada de esto, Euphoria no endulza su crudeza para hacerla atractiva sino para forzarnos a sumergirnos en su espiral autodestructiva.
¿Su final de temporada? Bastante amargo, decide llevar los conflictos a una escala exagerada y selecciona que plot points quiere resolver y cuáles no, aunque esto deja al espectador en un estado de frustración y tristeza innegable (Se ha visto en la respuesta del público) también termina siendo muy efectivo para cerrar esta porción de la historia de forma muy enfocada, aunque dicho enfoque no busque complacernos.
El séptimo capítulo, por ejemplo, servía como una antesala muy bien medida en dónde aunque objetivamente no avanzaba la historia psicológicamente todos los personajes debían lidiar con las consecuencias de sus actos. La obra de Lexie sirve como un recurso meta-narrativo que inteligentemente revive los eventos de la serie (los que observamos como espectadores y los que cronológicamente ocurrieron antes de la primera temporada), refrescando nuestra memoria y organizando todas las piezas como si se tratase de un tablero de ajedrez para su trágico desenlace.
La inesperada relación platónica que se ganó el amor de todo internet desde el primer episodio de la season 2 (Fez y Lexie) hacía de recipiente para este estado de extraña calma, un estado que vendría seguido de uno de los eventos más desgarradores en toda la serie, como si se tratase de un Game of Thrones moderno.
Euphoria sigue entregando calidad y no solo estoy triste por todo lo que sucedió en este episodio, sino por tener que esperar hasta el 2024 para seguir está historia, ¿Quizá está tercera temporada sea el momento ideal para terminarla? Me gusta pensar que si, pero el tiempo lo dirá todo.
De momento no nos queda más que apreciar lo que nos entregaron, un producto sólido que encuentra tiempo para todo.
