Hustle (2022) review: One of my favorites films of the year.

Although lately I feel very disappointed with everything that Netflix represents, I must admit that they just gave me one of the most pleasant surprises of the year: Hustle. If Uncut Gems and The Meyerowitz Stories demonstrated the acting and creative value of Adam Sandler within the platform, Hustle takes everything to another level, presenting us with a moving story that seems to sinter everything the American actor loves in less than 2 hours.

With a fairly active role in the production (which by the way he shares with Lebron James, for obvious reasons for those who have already seen the film) Sandler and the brilliant director Jeremiah Zagar show us an effective work where we follow the coach's bitter story of the Philadelphia 76ers, who, after traveling around the world in search of new talent for the team, comes across a brilliant Spanish boy who has the potential to be part of the NBA, even if accompanied by a stormy past.

Hustle is built around a fairly simple story and spends most of its run developing its lovable characters, characterized by an abundance of NBA-quality cameos (which sports fans will appreciate) and intimate yet passionate direction, we're looking at a display of emotions where aesthetics mixes with substance to keep us hooked effectively.

If Uncut Gems wallowed in anxiety and despair, Hustle is much more focused and optimistic, without implying that our characters will achieve their goals easily.

Personally it is one of the best films I have seen this year, supported by the brilliant role of Sandler and his co-star: Juancho Hernangómez, who manage an incredible chemistry that is reinforced by a very solid script.

Aunque últimamente me siento muy decepcionado con todo lo que representa Netflix, debo admitir que acaban de brindarme una de las sorpresas más gratas del año: Hustle. Si Uncut Gems y The Meyerowitz Stories demostraban el valor actoral y creativo de Adam Sandler dentro de la plataforma, Hustle eleva todo a otro nivel, presentándonos una conmovedora historia que parece sinterizar en menos de 2 horas todo aquello que el actor americano adora.

Con un rol bastante activo en la producción (La cual por cierto comparte con Lebron James, por razones obvias para aquel que ya haya visto el filme) Sandler y el brillante director Jeremiah Zagar nos muestran una obra efectiva en dónde seguimos la amarga historia del entrenador de los 76ers de Philadelphia, quien, luego de viajar alrededor del mundo en busca de talento nuevo para el equipo, se topa con un brillante muchacho Español que tiene el potencial necesario para formar parte de la NBA, aunque le acompañe un pasado tormentoso.

Hustle se construye alrededor de una historia bastante simple y dedica la mayoría de su duración a desarrollar sus entrañables personajes, caracterizada por una abundancia de cameos de calidad NBA (Que los fanáticos del deporte sabrán apreciar) y una dirección íntima pero apasionada, estamos ante un despliegue de emociónes en dónde la estética le mezcla con sustancial para mantenernos enganchados efectivamente.

Si Uncut Gems se regodeaba en medio de la ansiedad y la desesperación, Hustle es mucho más enfocada y optimista, sin que esto suponga que nuestros personajes van a conseguir sus objetivos con facilidad.

Personalmente es una de las mejores películas que he visto este año, sostenida por el brillante Rol de Sandler y su coestrella: Juancho Hernangómez, quienes manejan una química increíble que se ve reforzada por un guión muy sólido.
