I recently had the opportunity to see a movie that had been on my to-watch list for a long time, nothing more and nothing less than the adaptation of The Body, Stephen King's short novel, released in 1986 under the renowned title "Stand By Me”.
The film, of course, is a classic, and for some reason I managed to spend most of my life without the slightest idea of what it contained, I knew it had to do with children and train tracks, but everything else It would be a pleasant (or unpleasant) surprise.
Stand By Me is one of those works that takes advantage of its own structural simplicity to stimulate other aspects that might seem unimportant but end up solidifying the heart of the film. From the quaint and nostalgic portrayal of a fictional town in Oregon, to the guys we follow through the story, Stand By Me takes all of the elements created by King and implements them with wonderful warmth and timelessness.
But what is the real point of this story? In superficial terms, you probably already know it, a group of 4 quite peculiar boys decide to embark on a long journey in search of a corpse… the point is that at least on a thematic level, much more is happening.
Through the imperfect young people who star in it, Stand By Me is a film obsessed with portraying childhood in the most accurate way possible, mixing the innocence of a group of such young boys with the intrinsically twisted world we all inhabit. he never spends time romanizing the idea of friendship as a perpetual concept and accepts that many times, we are but a chapter in each other's lives.
Rob Reiner shows us the ideal coming of age story, with a good rhythm, great photography and the ability to immerse us in an adventure for an hour and a half.

Hace poco tuve la oportunidad de ver una película que había estado en mi lista de pendientes desde hace mucho tiempo, nada más y nada menos que la adaptación de The Body, la novela corta de Stephen King, estrenada en 1986 bajo el reconocido título “Stand By Me”.
El filme, por supuesto, es un clásico, y por alguna razón logré pasar la mayoría de mi vida sin la más mínima idea de cual era su contenido, sabía que tenía que ver con niños y los rieles de un tren, pero todo lo demás sería una grata (O desagradable) sorpresa.
Stand By Me es una de esas obras que aprovecha su propia simpleza estructural para estimular otros aspectos que podrían aparentar no tener importancia pero terminan solidificando el corazón del film. Desde la representación tan nostálgica y pintoresca de un pueblo ficticio en Oregón, hasta los muchachos que seguimos a lo largo de la historia, Stand By Me toma todos los elementos creados por King y los implementa con una calidez y atemporalidad maravillosa.
¿pero cuál es el verdadero punto de esta historia? En términos superficiales es probable que ustedes ya lo sepan, un grupo de 4 chicos bastante peculiares decide emprender un largo viaje en busca de un cadaver… la cuestión es que al menos a nivel temático está sucediendo mucho más.
Por medio de los jóvenes tan imperfectos que la protagonizan Stand By Me es un filme obsesionado con retratar la infancia de la forma más acertada posible, mezclando la inocencia propia de un un grupo de muchachos tan jóvenes con lo intrínsecamente retorcido del mundo que todos habitamos, nunca gasta tiempo romanizando la idea de la amistad como un concepto perpetuo y acepta que muchas veces, no somos más que un capítulo en la vida de los demás.
Rob Reiner nos muestra la coming of age story ideal, con un buen ritmo, una fotografía estupenda y la capacidad de sumergirnos durante hora y media en una aventura.
Una película maravillosa.
