After my initial Review of The Book of Boba Fett I decided to put it aside for a couple of weeks, I had (relatively) enjoyed its first episode but the Disney Plus and Star Wars project didn't have enough fire behind it to keep me hooked.

Sometimes we sin, we make quick judgments and end up falling into silly prejudices, so I felt it was quite appropriate to give the series a chance again, being a little less bitter and willing to appreciate everything it has to offer. . So let's go.

Being the second live action series of Star Wars within the Disney platform, it is quite logical that our expectations were through the roof considering that we came from the impeccable The Mandalorian, unfortunately, these same expectations end up shaping the final result in The Book of Boba Fett , a quite entertaining series but that does little or nothing to take advantage of the Star Wars universe.

Not everything is negative, Jon Favreau gives us a couple of great moments, plays with the chronological structure of each episode in interesting ways and after a fairly decaffeinated first chapter we have a great visual style (Not innovative, I make it clear).

Coming into spoiler territory, while it's great that we got a chance to reconnect with characters like Mando, Grogu, or Luke, at the same time it could be argued that all of these connections to classic and not-so-classic elements of the franchise just work in to the detriment of the series we're looking at, as if it doesn't have confidence in itself, in its ability to tell a good story that works totally disconnected from the Mandalorian or the Skywalker trilogy.

I know that sounds a bit contradictory to what I said before, but projects like Visions have managed to get the most out of Star Wars lore without having to appeal to its more mainstream elements.

Everything works objectively well, it would be pedantic to try to argue otherwise... but I feel that as fans of Star Wars we should not settle for so little.

The Book Of Boba Fett works best when it has all its focus on telling a simple but richly detailed story, the second episode, for example, contains a well-executed subplot where Boba tries to teach the Tusken warriors speeders.

I like everything that happened but sometimes I feel that everything could have been a little fresher, less formulaic.

So yes, I'm still a little bit bitter

While I had mixed feeling about the latest trilogy (mostly negative at this point), I have absolutely loved both The Mandalorian and The Book of Fett. Both have had an episode or two that could have been better but as a whole, I've loved what Jon Favreau has done and hope to see more.
