If you ask me, one of the most interesting animated series in all of history is the Simpsons, why? Thought in the first place as a simultaneous satire of sitcom culture and middle-class American life (with all the social criticism that goes with it) in its long and debatably abusive duration, it has managed to tell hundreds of stories, some of them are interesting enough. enough to deserve a deep analysis.
The fourth season episode, "I Love Lisa" fits this description perfectly. Giving the spotlight to Ralph Wiggum, one of the most prominent childhood characters of the first seasons, we have in front of us one of the most tender portraits that have ever been told on television.
After a somewhat bitter Valentine's Day, without receiving a love letter, Lisa is moved, and decides to give him one of her own.
This action, of course, is totally misinterpreted by Ralph, who assumes that Lisa is in love with her.
The chain of events that continues, of course, is most disastrous, after Ralph invites Lisa to Krusty's show, where she explodes and breaks her heart.
In the rest of the episode we explore the mourning process that involves a love disappointment at such an early age, which is represented very realistically.
And although I am not in the mood to spoil, I always loved the resolution of the episode, human and organic, understanding the importance of friendship and love at an early age, respecting its characters.
The Simpsons are at their best when they tell intimate stories that highlight the faults and virtues of their characters, when they have the facility to make us connect with them and understand why they act the way they do.
Ralph, in his infinite innocence, is a Child who grows organically, and it is always appreciated when a series has the courage to make us complicit in this. Although at present it seems that they have more failures than achievements, the yellow family continues to give much to talk about.

Si me preguntan, una de las series animadas más interesantes de toda la historia son los Simpsons, ¿Por qué? Pensada en primer lugar como una sátira simultánea a la cultura sitcom y a la vida americana de la clase media (Con toda la crítica social que conlleva) en su larga y debatiblemente abusiva duración ha logrado contar cientos de historias, algunas de ellas son lo suficientemente interesantes como para merecer un análisis profundo.
El episodio de la cuarta temporada, "Yo amo a Lisa” encaja a la perfección en esta descripción. Dándole el protagonismo a Ralph Wiggum, uno de los personajes infantiles más prominentes de las primeras temporadas, tenemos frente a nosotros uno de los retratos más tiernos que se han contado alguna vez en televisión.
Luego de un San Valentín un tanto amargo, sin recibir ninguna carta de amor, Lisa se conmueve, y decide regalarle una.
Esta acción, por supuesto, es totalmente mal-interpretada por Ralph, quien supone que Lisa está enamorada.
La cadena de eventos que prosigue, por supuesto, es de lo más desastrosa, luego de que Ralph invita a Lisa al programa de Krusty, en donde esta explota y rompe su corazón.
En el resto del episodio exploramos el proceso de luto que supone una decepción amorosa a tan temprana edad, el cual es representado de forma muy realista.
Y aunque no tengo ánimos de hacer spoiler, siempre amé la resolución del episodio, humana y orgánica, entendiendo la importancia de la amistad y el amor a una temprana edad, respetando sus personajes.
Los Simpsons son lo mejor de sí cuando cuentan historias íntimas que resaltan las fallas y las virtudes de sus personajes, cuando tienen facilidad para hacernos conectar con ellos y entender por qué actúan de la forma en que lo hacen.
Ralph, en su infinita inocencia, es un Niño que crece orgánicamente, y siempre es de apreciar cuando una serie tiene valentía para hacernos complices de esto. Aunque en la actualidad pareciera que tienen mas fallas que logros, la familia amarilla sigue dando mucho de qué hablar.
