Primero que nada quiero mencionarles que junto a mi familia acabamos de pasar por un momento un poco traumático, esta es la razón principal por la cual me he ausentado en Hive durante un par de días, no obstante, luego de algo que se sintió como una pesadilla finalmente empezamos a ver un respiro, resulta que el día martes 29 de Marzo mi padre tuvo un accidente en motocicleta y su pierna sufrió una cantidad elevada de daños, es un asunto bastante delicado en donde pudo haber perdido la pierna definitivamente, pero luego de un par de operaciones (Qué aún estamos luchando por pagar y son bastante costosas) esta resurgiendo nuestra esperanza, existen nervios y ligamentos comprometidos pero nos mantenemos positivos, tenemos absoluta fe en que eventualmente se recuperara del todo y lo tendremos activo como siempre, aunque puede ser un proceso que dure varios meses. Les menciono todo esto aunque tenga que ver poco con el tema de mi post (Y por extensión, de esta gran comunidad) porque siento que es importante justificar mi ausencia y también apreciaría demasiado que revisaran este post en donde mi hermana detalla todo lo sucedido a profundidad ——, espero no les moleste la inclusión de dicho post por estos lados, un abrazo y espero se encuentren bien.
Pero bueno, quiero distraer un poco la mente de esta tragedia hablando sobre una de mis películas favoritas de este año (Otra vez) y es que siento que ya es el momento adecuado para abordar uno de sus puntos más controversiales: nada más y nada menos que la inclusión de Barry Kheogan como el nuevo Joker en The Batman de Matt Reeves.
La cuestión es que aunque siento que fue una adición innecesaria al filme (Mucho mas en tono con lo que haría una obra de Marvel o DC en so Snyder Era) es importante aclarar nuestras mentes para evaluar qué significa su inclusión no solo para las evidentes secuelas de The Batman sino para los spin offs del Arkham Asylum que veremos eventualmente en HBO Max.
Aunque considero que en las últimas décadas hemos recibido más versiones del personaje de las necesarias, desviando la atención de otros villanos de Batman con una cantidad de potencial similar (Scarecrow, por ejemplo) también debemos reconocer que el payaso es una pieza crucial dentro del mito del Murciélago, con todo lo que esto implica.
Yo pregunto, ¿Estamos enojados por el performance de Kheogan, o porque DC otra vez está forzando a una de sus caras más marketeables? Cómo la mayoría de los versiones más recientes del Joker, es innegable que la versión de Ledger y Nolan ha tenido una influencia gigantesca no solo en la estética, sino en los aspectos más sustanciales de su presencia: cómo habla, sus motivaciones, su energía general.
A mi me gusta la idea pero detesto que su existencia sea necesaria para que Batman funcione a largo plazo, Kheogan y Reeves nos entregan una visión mucho más retorcida y desaliñada del personaje, que aparenta funcionar de forma organica con el resto del nuevo universo, pero no podemos hacer más que sentir miedo por el futuro.
Cómo reflexión personal, creo que debo dejar atrás esa necesidad de ver a Batman como un personaje de cómics (Aunque sean sus orígenes y su fuente principal hasta la fecha) sino porque es una idea que cierra nuestras expectativas de lo que estás historias pueden contar, Reeves está construyendo un nuevo universo aislado de todo lo que hemos visto antes y debemos respetarlo como tal, cada cineasta y cada artista ha tenido un acercamiento distinto a su plantilla de personajes, nunca hace daño tener una más.

But hey, I want to take my mind off this tragedy a bit by talking about one of my favorite movies of this year (again) and I feel that now is the right time to address one of its most controversial points: nothing more and nothing less. than the inclusion of Barry Kheogan as the new Joker in Matt Reeves' The Batman.
The point is that although I feel that it was an unnecessary addition to the film (much more in tune with what a Marvel or DC work would do in the Snyder Era) it is important to clear our minds to evaluate what its inclusion means not only for the obvious sequels of The Batman but for the Arkham Asylum spin offs that we will see eventually on HBO Max.
Although I believe that in recent decades we have received more versions of the character than necessary, diverting attention from other Batman villains with a similar amount of potential (Scarecrow, for example), we must also recognize that the clown is a crucial piece within the myth. of the Bat, with all that this implies.
I ask, are we angry about Kheogan's performance, or that DC is once again forcing one of its most marketable faces? Like most of the most recent versions of the Joker, it is undeniable that Ledger and Nolan's version has had a gigantic influence not only in aesthetics, but in the most substantial aspects of his presence: how he speaks, his motivations, the general energy of it.
I like the idea but I hate that his existence is necessary for Batman to work in the long term, Kheogan and Reeves give us a much more twisted and disheveled vision of the character, which seems to work organically with the rest of the new universe, but we can do nothing but feel fear for the future.
As a personal reflection, I think I should leave behind that need to see Batman as a comic book character (Although they are his origins and his main source to date) but because it is an idea that closes our expectations of what these stories can tell, Reeves is building a new universe isolated from everything we have seen before and we must respect it as such, each filmmaker and each artist has had a different approach to their cast of characters, it never hurts to have one more.
