It is almost inevitable to watch Tick, Tick, Boom! without having the expectations in the sky, with this and the rumors of the presence of Andrew Garfield in No Way Home it seems that the internet decided to love that man in unison, praising each project that he has recently been a part of without evaluating the nature Of them very deeply.
I think it's important that we consider all of this because Tick, Tick, Boom! (A musical drama directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda based on the Broadway play that Jonathan Larson created as a very particular reflection of his own life) is a very strange product, fun, yes, but very far from the perfection that for many is almost obvious.
For me, the true enjoyment of this work derives from its thematic content: a frantic and constant struggle with the fear of aging without leaving a significant mark on the world, shown through the suffering of a brilliant and neurotic artist who is overwhelmed by his own existential crisis.
On the surface things are not so smooth, Tick Tick has an extremely fast and disorganized rhythm that can bewilder its viewers for at least the first hour, a considerable portion of the montage where the only shred of coherence will be provided by the brilliant actors. that are on screen.
Of course, we could say that this is intentional, it makes sense if we see the film as an entrance to the brain of Larson, a passionate subject surrounded by people who genuinely loved him but too ambitious to exist in peace, as the story progresses (and his protagonist evolves with it) things become a little more focused, we connect with her conflicts and clearly understand why he acts so erratically.
Tick, tick boom! operates within very particular parameters according to which we could call it a masterpiece, representing the indescribable feeling of anxiety that comes from noticing that life is slipping away without achieving anything really significant. The songs are beautifully performed and even though I'm not a big fan of musicals I can see the artistic value in each of these songs.
Conclusion? Although I wouldn't be able to call this one of the best movies I've ever seen, I know how to recognize its positive points and Andrew Garfield undoubtedly knows how to perfectly approach the role of Larson, a creative and passionate guy who often gets swamped in his own ego but strong enough to eventually get ahead, even if he wasn't alive to see the fruits of his efforts.

(Un drama musical digirido por Lin-Manuel Miranda basado en la obra de Broadway que Jonathan Larson creo como un reflejo muy particular de su propia vida) es un producto muy extraño, divertido, si, pero muy lejano de la perfección que para muchos resulta casi obvia.
Para mí el verdadero disfrute de esta obra deriva defina de su contenido temático: una lucha frenética y constante con el miedo a envejecer sin dejar una huella significativa en el mundo mostrada a través del sufrimiento de un artista brillante y neurótico que se ve capado por su propia crisis existencial.
En la superficie las cosas no son tan fluidas, Tick Tick cuenta con un ritmo extremadamente acelerado y desorganizado que puede desconcertar a sus espectadores durante al menos la primera hora, una porción considerable del montaje en dónde la única pizca de coherencia la otorgarán los brillantes actores que están en pantalla.
Por supuesto, podríamos decir que esto es intencional, tiene sentido si vemos el filme como una entrada al cerebro de Larson, un sujeto apasionado y rodeado de gente que lo amaba genuinamente pero demasiado ambicioso como para existir con tranquilidad, a medida de que la historia progresa (Y su protagonista evoluciona con ella) las cosas se van enfocando un poco más, vamos conectando con su conflictos y entendiendo con claridad por qué actúa de forma tan errática.
Tick, Tick Boom! Opera dentro de unos parámetros muy particulares acorde los cuales podríamos llamarlo obra maestra, representando la sensación indescriptible de ansiedad que supone notar que se nos está llendo la vida sin lograr nada realmente significativo. Las canciones son interpretadas de forma estupenda y aún sin ser un gran fan de los musicales puedo ver el valor artístico en cada uno de estos temas.
¿Conclusión? Aunque no sería capaz de llamar esta una de las mejores películas que he visto, sé reconocer sus puntos positivos y es indudable que Andrew Garfield sabe abordar a la perfección el rol de Larson, un tipo creativo y apasionado que muchas veces se inunda en su propio ego pero con fuerza para eventualmente salir adelante, aunque no estuviese vivo para ver los frutos de su esfuerzo.
