Although this could feel like another of my usual bitter post attacking the MCU, the recently released trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder fills me with a lot of hope, not only because the arrival of Taika Waititi to this cinematic universe has always represented a facelift fair and necessary (without even beginning to evaluate his other triumphs such as Jojo Rabbit or What we do in the Shadows) That this time it might not be limited only to the visual style and comedic rhythm of the work, but to its deeper themes.
When I start to ramble about these things, fear begins to arise, Thor Ragnarok was a visually beautiful film with a mix of comedy and action that suited the characters that inhabit Asgard (and the other places we visited) wonderfully, but in the end and in the end he felt the need to fall into the typical Marvel tropes: he gloated in references to the films that came before and will come after; It was to conclude with a full-scale battle, and its bittersweet ending would be obstructed by the events of Infinity War.
But Love and Thunder has things different, not so much because they can't follow the same course of action, but because the lack of narrative ties has the potential for us to take this adventure to a much more intimate and existential level.
Despite the inconsistency in the quality of his trilogy, throughout the shared universe Thor is a character who has managed to forge a fairly decent narrative arc, full of tragedies, triumphs, ups and downs that play with his undeniable charisma, what is the need to make another typical superhero movie, having the ability and the freedom to take everything to another level?
And all the necessary elements to achieve it are here, present in the short teaser: an almost infinite galaxy to explore, companions that serve to propel or slow down our protagonist in various directions, a great soundtrack and the keyword that I mentioned a few moments ago : existentialism.
Spider-Man No Way Home created the hype from familiarity, the strength to fulfill our high but predictable expectations, this is a work that could take a totally opposite direction, where the events that happen and Thor have a less conventional relationship. , much more organic and almost relaxing.
Is it possible that we are already at that point, at least in terms of creative freedoms? I don't know, probably not, I just hope they approach this movie in the best possible way.

Aunque este podría sentirse como otro de mis habituales post amargos atacando al MCU, el recientemente estrenado trailer de Thor: Love and Thunder me llena de muchísimas esperanza, no solo porque la llegada de Taika Waititi a este universo cinematográfico siempre ha representado un lavado de cara justo y necesario (Sin empezar si quiera a evaluar sus otros triunfos como Jojo Rabbit o What we do in the Shadows) Que en esta ocasión podría no estar limitado únicamente al estilo visual y el ritmo comédico de la obra, sino a sus temas más profundos.
Cuando empiezo a divagar sobre estas cosas empieza a surgir el miedo, Thor Ragnarok era una película hermosa visualmente y con una mezcla de comedia y acción que le sentaba de maravilla a los personajes que habitan Asgard (Y los otros lugares que visitamos) pero al fin y al cabo sentía la necesidad de caer en los típicos tropos de Marvel: se regodeaba en las referencias a los filmes que vinieron antes y vendrás después; debía concluir con una batalla a gran escala y su final tan agridulce sería veía obstruido por los eventos de Infinity War.
Pero Love and Thunder tiene las cosas diferentes, no tanto porque no puedan seguir el mismo curso de acción, sino porque la falta de ataduras narrativas tienen el potencial de que llevemos esta aventura a un plano mucho más íntimo y existencialista.
A pesar de lo inconsiste en la calidad de su trilogía, a lo largo del universo compartido Thor es un personaje que a logrado forjar un arco narrativo bastante decente, lleno de tragedias, triunfos, altos y bajos que jugetean con su carisma innegable, ¿Cual es la necesidad de hacer otra película de superhéroes típica, teniendo la capacidad y la libertad de elevar todo a otro nivel?
Y todos los elementos necesarios para lograrlo están aquí, presentes en el breve teaser: una galaxia casi infinita por explorar, compañeros que sirven para impulsar o frenar a nuestro protagonista en diversas direcciones, una banda sonora estupenda y la palabra clave que mencioné hace unos momentos: existencialismo.
Spider-Man No Way Home creaba el hype a partir de la familiaridad, la fuerza para llenar nuestras elevadas pero predecibles expectativas, esta es una obra que podría tomar una dirección totalmente opuesta, en donde los eventos que suceden y Thor tienen una relación menos convencional, mucho más orgánica y casi relajante.
¿Es posible que ya estemos en ese punto, al menos en términos de libertades creativas? No lo sé, probablemente no, yo solo espero que aborden esta película de la mejor manera posible.
