Thor: Love and Thunder a Marvel movie that brings Thor back with a different kind of story. The story is very interesting, and so is the action. It connects Thor’s past life with what he’s going through.
After the adventures of Endgame, Thor was travelling with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Meanwhile, someone very dangerous called Gorr had lost his daughter. He had depended on the other gods, but they didn’t help him. Instead, they disappointed and betrayed him, and his daughter died. This made Gorr more dangerous and determined to kill the gods because of what they had done to him.
An amazing part of the story was how Jane Foster returned as Mighty Thor. Jane suddenly became worthy of Mjolnir and gained the same kind of power as Thor. Thor wasn’t expecting to see his old hammer in someone else’s hands, and he was amazed. Her fighting scenes were so impressive, and she showed great ability in using the war hammer.
Thor discovered that Jane was very sick. But what was interesting about Jane was that she was still interested in helping other people. At that point, Gorr took several children away. Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and Korg had to go and rescue them.
There were a lot of interesting fights. The way everyone used their abilities made the fighting scenes great.
The final fight was so interesting, especially when Jane took the risk of fighting even though she knew she wasn’t going to make it. She sacrificed herself just to save other people.
To some extent, I just wish Jane hadn’t died because she was able to use the old hammer so skillfully, especially in the final fight. But that’s all right; she did it to save the children, and that is the passion of a hero.
The movie shows a lot about love, and love is the greatest thing, especially when two people understand what Gorr really wants. He takes care of his daughter out of love. The sacrifices in this movie, along with the love shown, make the story very amazing.

Thor loses everything he had, so he decided to find peace and discover a new purpose in life. However, his journey takes an unexpected turn when a dangerous enemy known as Gorr the God Butcher begins killing gods across the universe. One of the things superhero movies often try to do is balance action with emotional storytelling. It is not always easy, especially when a movie wants to make the audience laugh while also dealing with serious subjects such as grief, loneliness, and the loss of loved ones. Sometimes, the comedy works well with the story. Other times, it becomes so frequent that it takes away from the emotional moments that should make the movie more meaningful.
In the movie, we see thor but after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Having gone through several painful experiences, he is still trying to understand his place in the universe. Although he has regained some of his confidence, there is a sense that he has not completely recovered from everything he has lost. His journey becomes more complicated when Gorr, a man who develops a deep hatred for the gods after experiencing a personal tragedy, begins his mission to eliminate them.

At the same time, Thor reunites with Jane Foster, his former girlfriend, who has become the Mighty Thor and is now wielding Mjolnir. Their reunion brings back memories of their past relationship while introducing new complications. However, what begins as another adventure filled with familiar Marvel humour gradually becomes a story about love, sacrifice, and the painful reality of losing someone you care about.
The screenplay attempts to bring these different elements together, using Thor's personal journey, Jane's illness, and Gorr's revenge to create a story that is both entertaining and emotionally engaging. Unfortunately, the movie does not always give these ideas the attention they deserve.
The theme of grief is one of the most interesting aspects of the story. Gorr is not simply another villain who wants to destroy the universe because he enjoys causing suffering. His hatred comes from a personal experience that completely changes his understanding of the gods he once worshipped. After losing someone important to him, he begins to question their purpose and why they deserve the devotion of ordinary people.
This gives his character an interesting foundation. His anger is understandable, even though his decision to kill the gods takes him down a dangerous path.
However, the movie does not explore this character as deeply as it could have. Christian Bale delivers a performance that makes Gorr frightening and unpredictable, but the screenplay gives him limited time to develop beyond his desire for revenge. Considering the emotional weight of his backstory, his character could have been one of the most memorable villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jane is dealing with a serious personal struggle, and her transformation into the Mighty Thor gives her a new sense of strength at a time when her life is becoming increasingly difficult.

Natalie Portman brings sincerity to the role, and her performance helps make Jane's situation feel personal. The relationship between her and Thor also provides some of the movie's most meaningful moments. They still care about each other, but their time apart has changed them in different ways. Their reunion is filled with humour, awkwardness, and unresolved feelings, making their relationship feel more complicated than a simple romantic movie.

Visually, Thor: Love and Thunder has several impressive moments. The contrast between the colourful environments associated with Thor's adventures and the darker atmosphere surrounding Gorr gives the movie a distinct appearance. Some action sequences are exciting, and the use of shadows and limited colour in certain scenes creates an interesting visual experience.
The scenes involving Gorr are particularly effective when the movie embraces a darker atmosphere. His appearance, movements, and overall presence make him feel different from the usual Marvel villains. Unfortunately, these moments are not used consistently enough to establish the level of tension the story needs. Just when the movie begins to feel threatening, the tone changes, and the suspense loses some of its impact.
The supporting cast also contributes to the movie's entertaining moments. Chris Hemsworth continues to portray Thor with a combination of confidence, humour, and occasional vulnerability. His performance makes the character enjoyable to watch, even when the screenplay reduces him to the source of a joke. Tessa Thompson brings strength and personality to Valkyrie, although her character could have been given more meaningful material to work with.
Russell Crowe's portrayal of Zeus adds another layer of comedy to the story. His interpretation of the powerful god is deliberately exaggerated, creating a character whose arrogance and behaviour are quite different from what one might expect. While this approach produces some amusing scenes, it also contributes to the movie's tendency to make powerful figures appear ridiculous rather than genuinely intimidating.
One of the biggest problems with the screenplay is how much it tries to accomplish within its runtime. It introduces several promising ideas, including the nature of gods, the consequences of blind worship, the pain of losing loved ones, and the possibility of finding happiness even when life becomes difficult. These are themes that could have supported a more mature and emotionally satisfying story.
The result is a movie that feels divided between two different intentions. On one side, it wants to be a funny superhero adventure filled with colourful visuals and ridiculous situations. On the other, it wants to tell a heartbreaking story about love, sacrifice, and mortality. Neither approach is necessarily a problem on its own, but the combination becomes less effective when the movie fails to give each element enough space.
