Unlike the other Thor films, and generally of the Marvel saga, Thor Love & Thunder has never convinced me much since the film's presentation trailer. In fact, at the end of each trailer my reaction is extremely excited, after seeing this one I was a bit perplexed by the possible plot. In fact, seeing Jane Foster become the goddess Thor didn't immediately seem like a great idea because it seemed like a forced gesture, something similar to a lack of ideas.
Although the film is based on one of the many Marvel stories of the god of lightning, my first impression was immediately dubious, a predisposition that perhaps also conditioned my opinion of the film in general. A fairly inconsistent plot, an unattractive story although the special effects and battles with great scenic effect have revived the whole film a bit.
I'm a huge fan of Christian Bale and seeing him play Gorr the Godslayer made me really happy. His stage presence is undoubtedly impressive and he is my favorite character in the film. Thor is increasingly reduced to a ridiculous deity, I like his ironic nature but at times he is depicted as stupid, in reality he is the most powerful of superheroes, so I think it is necessary to reverse his temperament.
Jane Foster, alias Natalie Portman, is a really good actress and I've always liked her in the role of a scientist, in love with a deity. Now however she has magically become a deity and at the end of the film, after her death, she arrives directly at the gates of Valhalla, the paradise of the gods, where Heimdall welcomes her (and this indicates that the story does not end here, waiting for Thor 5 ?). I don't know, I really liked the idea of this difficult, almost impossible love. Everything has been trivialized, like Thor himself, now a clown among superheroes.
I was skeptical from the beginning and I'm glad I didn't go to the cinema and see it. In spite of everything, it has still achieved good success worldwide. The charming and good Chris Hemsworth certainly has the merit of attracting a vast audience, Thor is among the most loved superheroes even by children and for which he is a timeless trend, as long as the actor manages to sustain the physical rhythms to maintain a physique muscled.
My rating is 5/10, I don't consider an even lower rating because the special effects are always at the top and the Marvel title is generally synonymous with good quality. Let's hope for a better and more inspiring sequel. Rated 10 for the Guns'n'Roses soundtrack, a masterpiece of rock music that made me really emotional!
