Llegó el momento de hablar de la última película de la fase cuatro de Marvel, una que la verdad muchos estábamos esperando después de haber visto Ragnarok por allá en el 2017. Para serles sincero mis expectativas no iban tan altas, las tenía contenidas dado lo que había leído de las personas que ya la habían visto, como les he comentado me gusta leer un poco lo que dice el publico en general antes de ver una película y si hay algo que está marcando un poco este film es la división de opiniones, es decir, o te gusta o no pero parece que no hay muchos tintes grises.

It's time to talk about the last movie of Marvel's phase four, one that many of us were really looking forward to after seeing Ragnarok back in 2017. To be honest my expectations were not so high, I had them contained given what I had read from people who had already seen it, as I said I like to read a little what the general public says before seeing a movie and if there is something that is marking a little this film is the division of opinions, that is, either you like it or not but it seems that there are not many shades of gray.

Es sabido que las películas de Thor siempre son un poco estrafalarias, Ragnarok lo fue, y con esta se esperaba lo mismo, hasta el punto que su director Taika Waititi lo había advertido, que esta historia sería muy diferente a lo visto anteriormente. Debo decir que en lo personal me gustó la película, me gustó el "nuevo" Thor en lo que a personalidad se refiere, Natalie Portman es increíble siempre y Christian Bale sumó otro gran personaje a su historial. Pero, tanta comedia y humor hacia falta?... porque sabemos que esa es una formula muy de Marvel pero con Thor: love and thunder la llevaron puntos nunca vistos. Pero bueno, sin perder más tiempo hablemos un poco de lo que fue esta nueva historia del Dios asgardiano.

It is well known that Thor movies are always a bit quirky, Ragnarok was, and with this one the same was expected, to the point that its director Taika Waititi had warned it, that this story would be very different from what we have seen before. I must say that personally I liked the movie, I liked the "new" Thor as far as personality is concerned, Natalie Portman is always amazing and Christian Bale added another great character to his track record. But, so much comedy and humor was needed?... because we know that this is a very Marvel formula but with Thor: love and thunder they took it to new heights. But well, without wasting any more time, let's talk a little bit about this new story of the Asgardian God.

Para poner un poco en contexto esta historia vendría siendo la continuación a partir de los hechos de Endgame, si recuerdan Thor (Chris Hemsworth) decidió irse con los Guardianes de la Galaxia para hacer una especie de retiro espiritual y buscar encontrarse con un mejor yo interior dejando todo el tema de ser un héroe de lado por lo que la Nueva Asgard quedaría en manos de Valquiria (Tessa Thompson), su fiel amiga. En todo este tiempo vemos como hay un cambio importante en el físico del Dios de Asgard ya que como les dije las ganas de seguir haciendo lo que por mucho tiempo hizo habían desparecido. Afortunadamente todo esto sirvió para que "el nuevo Thor" saliera a luz y lo disfrutáramos en esta película.

To put a little in context this story would be the continuation from the events of Endgame, if you remember Thor (Chris Hemsworth) decided to go with the Guardians of the Galaxy to make a kind of spiritual retreat and seek to find a better inner self leaving the whole issue of being a hero aside so the New Asgard would be in the hands of Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), his faithful friend. In all this time we see how there is an important change in the physique of the God of Asgard since as I said the desire to continue doing what he did for a long time had disappeared. Fortunately all this served for "the new Thor" to come to light and we enjoyed him in this movie.

Pero cuando todo parecía estar tranquilo aparece una amenaza, un villano que se creo una fama muy peligrosa, es conocido como el Carnicero de Dioses, Gorr (Christian Bale) entra en acción con aparentemente un solo propósito, la eliminación total de todos los dioses existentes. También es justo acá cuando entra Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) portando el martillo de Thor, Mjolnir, y quien a partir de ahora será llamada La Poderosa Thor. Todos se embarcarán en esta misión la cual tiene como objetivo detener los planes de Gorr. Desde ya se los digo que será un viaje lleno de mucha acción, muchas sorpresas y sobretodo mucha comedia, pero bastante diría yo.

All of them will embark on a mission to stop Gorr's plans. I can already tell you that it will be a journey full of action, many surprises and above all a lot of comedy, but quite a lot I would say.

Marvel nos tiene acostumbrados a sus dosis de humor, que le vamos a hacer? esa es su formula y a esa nos acostumbraron durante todos los años. Dosis las cuales siempre me han gustado, creo que es un factor diferenciador de las películas de este universo y en parte lo que ha hecho que hoy por hoy en relación con DC Comics por ejemplo, los films sean increíblemente mejores. Pero el riesgo que se corrió con Thor: love and thunder fue grande porque no es la típica película de superhéroes llena de tensión y drama de principio a fin, nada que ver, aquí vemos como en casi todas sus líneas hay un ligero toque de gracia que cuando se juntan uno tras otro las escenas se vuelven un poco particulares.

Marvel has accustomed us to their doses of humor, what can we do? that's their formula and that's what we've been used to over the years. Doses which I have always liked, I think it is a differentiating factor of the films of this universe and partly what has made that today in relation to DC Comics for example, the films are incredibly better. But the risk that was taken with Thor: love and thunder was great because it is not the typical superhero movie full of tension and drama from beginning to end, nothing to see, here we see how in almost all its lines there is a slight touch of grace that when they come together one after another the scenes become a little particular.

Pero no malinterpreten que tampoco se está hablando de que la película no se pueda ver, al contrario, siento que detrás de todo este cambio tan radical que vimos hay una frescura y un aura mucho más ligera que hace que el film sea extrañamente disfrutable y es que hay un fragmento muy especifico en la película que dura como diez minutos en donde me pregunté: "que acabo de ver?"... pero con una sonrisa en la cara. Siento que estos detalles son lo que hacen que esta película sea tan especial y es perfectamente entendible que no sea para todo el publico, de ahí a que la critica esté tan dividida; repito, fue una movida arriesgada pero que ya se sabía que iba a ser así, no entiendo la sorpresa de muchos.

But don't misunderstand that we are not talking about the film being unwatchable, on the contrary, I feel that behind all this radical change we saw there is a freshness and a much lighter aura that makes the film strangely enjoyable and there is a very specific fragment in the film that lasts about ten minutes where I asked myself: "What did I just see? I feel that these details are what make this film so special and it is perfectly understandable that it is not for all audiences, hence why the critics are so divided; I repeat, it was a risky move but it was already known that it was going to be like this, I do not understand the surprise of many.

Y no, no todo es risas y amor. Esta historia también tiene su carga importante de suspenso, miedo, terror y angustia y en parte es gracias a Gorr. Todo lo que tiene que ver con el conflicto que él tiene, porque el trasfondo de todo es algo sumamente personal, hace que la película tenga una profundidad en la trama importante. Las batallas que se dan, todos los combates, el enfrentamiento entre este villano y las fuerzas del bien, absolutamente todo es extraordinario. La cinematografía y los efectos, firma muy importante de Marvel, son una locura, son muchas las partes donde es un placer visual ver lo que está sucediendo a la pantalla, cuidan mucho de esos factores y es por eso que las películas valen tanto.

And no, it's not all laughs and love. This story also has its important load of suspense, fear, terror and anguish and it is partly thanks to Gorr. Everything that has to do with the conflict he has, because the background of everything is something extremely personal, makes the film have an important depth in the plot. The battles that take place, all the fighting, the confrontation between this villain and the forces of good, absolutely everything is extraordinary. The cinematography and the effects, a very important signature of Marvel, are crazy, there are many parts where it is a visual pleasure to see what is happening on the screen, they take great care of these factors and that is why the movies are worth so much.

El elenco en general es algo muy top también, a actores como los ya nombrados se le unen Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Karen Gillan, Melissa McCarthy, entre otros que hacen que la experiencia actoral sea otra de las cosas que se disfrutan mucho. Ya que nombramos a Russell Crowe, hay que decir que me gustó el enfoque que esta película le da a la figura de lo dioses, por lo general y como es obvio a ellos se les tiene un poco idealizados pero acá hay un giro bastante interesante de como uno los percibe y como realmente terminan siendo. Creo que este pequeño detalle es vital para todo el desarrollo de la trama, con base en esto cambian muchas cosas.

The cast in general is also something very top notch, actors like those already mentioned are joined by Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Karen Gillan, Melissa McCarthy, among others that make the acting experience another thing that is very enjoyable. Since we mention Russell Crowe, I must say that I liked the approach that this film gives to the figure of the gods, usually and obviously they are a little idealized but here there is a very interesting twist on how one perceives them and how they really end up being. I think this small detail is vital for the whole development of the plot, based on this many things change.

Ya hablando un poco más de los personajes como les comenté el de Thor es mucho más profundo y centrado que el del pasado, esto se nota porque la trama así lo quiere. Además de las risas hay mucho amor y sentimentalismo cosa que hará que este Thor sea mucho más maduro a la hora de tomar decisiones. Como siempre el trabajo de Chris Hemsworth es impecable, es un absurdo lo bien que interpreta a Thor, sinceramente no veo a otro actor haciendo del Dios del trueno, es imposible. Al ser una película con una carga cómica importante el carisma de Chris es innegable siendo algo que contagia pero cuando se le pide seriedad al personaje también lo borda de buena manera, esa dualidad que pocos tienen a él le sale muy natural.

Talking a little more about the characters, as I mentioned, Thor's character is much deeper and more focused than in the past, this is noticeable because the plot wants it that way. In addition to the laughs there is a lot of love and sentimentality which will make this Thor much more mature when it comes to making decisions. As always Chris Hemsworth's work is impeccable, it's absurd how well he plays Thor, I honestly can't see another actor playing the God of Thunder, it's impossible. Being a film with an important comic charge Chris' charisma is undeniable being something that is contagious but when the character is asked for seriousness he also embroiders it in a good way, that duality that few have comes very naturally to him.

Y bueno, que decir de Natalie Portman. Ya aquí hablando muy personalmente para mi ella es perfecta, no recuerdo una película en donde no me haya gustado su trabajo. Verla de como una superheroína es algo que no me hubiese imaginado que pasaría y sobretodo que lo hiciera tan bien, porque si, todas esas escenas donde tuvo que portar el martillo para hacer frente a las fuerzas enemigas parecía que estuviéramos viendo a una vengadora más. Igualmente su personaje tiene una carga emocional importante y si hay alguien que este tipo de sentimientos e interpretaciones se les da bien es a Natalie. Diez de diez ambos personajes.

And well, what to say about Natalie Portman. And here speaking very personally for me she is perfect, I don't remember a movie where I didn't like her work. Seeing her as a superheroine is something that I would not have imagined would happen and above all that she did it so well, because yes, all those scenes where she had to carry the hammer to face the enemy forces seemed that we were watching one more avenger. Likewise, her character has an important emotional charge and if there is someone that this type of feelings and interpretations are given well is Natalie. Ten out of ten for both characters.

Pero el que sin duda se lleva toda la ovación es Christian Bale. Que clase de villano se lanzó en esta película, uno cuyo motor no necesariamente es el odio, es otro que a mi parecer es mucho más peligroso y dañino. Aunque no lo parezca es un personaje que lo mueve mucho el amor y por que no, se puede llegar a empatizar bastante con él, los que vieron la película sabrán que algo de razón llevo. Es siniestro, es oscuro e increíblemente vengativo, todo los ingredientes para ser un buen antagonista. Bale nos tiene acostumbrado a buenas interpretaciones y con ellas a transformaciones a las que somete su cuerpo para conseguir un mejor resultado, es por eso que siempre será una sorpresa todos sus personajes. Creo que lo mejor de la película es él por todo lo que rodea su historia, una actuacion brutal desde la primera vez que sale en pantalla hasta la ultima.

But the one who undoubtedly gets all the ovation is Christian Bale. What kind of villain was launched in this film, one whose engine is not necessarily hate, it is another that in my opinion is much more dangerous and harmful. Although it may not seem like it, he is a character who is driven by love and why not, you can empathize with him a lot, those who saw the movie will know that I am right. He is sinister, dark and incredibly vengeful, all the ingredients to be a good antagonist. Bale has accustomed us to good performances and with them to transformations to which he submits his body to get a better result, that's why all his characters will always be a surprise. I think the best of the film is him for everything that surrounds his story, a brutal performance from the first time he appears on screen until the last.

La conclusión es sencilla. Es una película que si sabes lo que vas a ver, si sabes que te vas a encontrar un film como probablemente ninguno del MCU lleno de alta dosis de comedia, amor pero también con una parte oscura y siniestra un poco pesada pues esta película es para ti. Si, para mi y eso que en lo personal no me molesta hay un exceso de humor, a veces inexplicable y otras realmente gracioso que te van a sacar sin dudas una carcajada. Pero como te vas a reír puede que que te sientas tristes, eufórico, etc. Es una película en donde hacen vida muchos sentimientos la verdad.

The conclusion is simple. It is a movie that if you know what you are going to see, if you know that you are going to find a film like probably none of the MCU full of high doses of comedy, love but also with a dark and sinister part a little heavy, then this movie is for you. Yes, for me and I personally don't mind that there is an excess of humor, sometimes inexplicable and sometimes really funny that will definitely make you laugh. But since you will laugh, you might feel sad, euphoric, etc. It is a movie where many feelings come to life.

Le doy 7.5/10 porque no es para nada mala pero a veces tantas risas me parece un poco extraño dado el contexto en donde estamos. Tiene una duración de menos de dos horas y trae dos escenas post créditos. No duden en verla, vale la pena. Ya después opinaran si tengo razón en lo que digo o no. Como siempre les dejo el tráiler.

I give it 7.5/10 because it's not bad at all but sometimes so many laughs seems a little strange given the context in which we are. It's less than two hours long and has two post-credits scenes.
