Greetings Hive community! Especially to all the moviegoers for whom this post is directed. Yesterday I saw the movie Infinite (2021), directed by Antoine Fuqua and distributed by the streaming service Paramount +, being an adaptation of the 2009 science fiction novel The Reincarationist Papers, owned by D. Eric Maikranz. What caught my attention when I saw the poster of the film and made me watch it was the participation of actors of the highest level like Mark Walhberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor, so I thought to give it a try.
The film is about Evan Michaels, played by Walhberg, who is a man with "mental ilness" who struggles to survive, since he was diagnosed with schizophrenia from puberty and does not handle anger very well. He is haunted by memories, which are like nightmares, but he attributes it entirely to his mental disorder; until he discovers that what he and his doctors thought were hallucinations were nothing more than past life memories. This is how he meets a group of people (The Believers) who are like him and you call them "the Infinites" (hence the name of the film) and have been reincarnated over the centuries.
If you are looking for an intense plot, the well-known fight between good (the Believers) and evil (the Nihilists), action scenes with weapons, motorcycles and even airplanes, sometimes a little unreal but not bordering on the ridiculousness, and the conception of values such as friendship, sacrifice, love through time (it could be called an "eternal love") and union, cannot fail to see it. It is not an excellent movie, but it will make you have an entertaining time. If, on the contrary, they look for a script with a lot of depth and justification for what happens in the film, they will not find it. (Interesting fact, the actor who would play Evan Michaels was going to be Chris Evans, but he was scrapped at the last minute and replaced by Mark).
