The film begins right where the force awakening ends, with our heroine Rey face to face with the legendary Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) the man who puts the "Star" in Star Wars, and so we start this new adventure with a main plot of Rey and Kylo and two subplots that of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and that of Finn (John Boyega) to which it is noted that she was harmed in the editing process but that does not stop her from liking with the introduction of the character Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran). As for the plot of Poe Dameron begins with an action scene that the fans dreamed of blowing up an imperial destroyer in a cinematographically marvelous sequence and that is what makes this movie great. Rian Johnson paints us a very beautiful cinematographic film with scenes of impeccable action and deeply philosophical, the debate of light and darkness in the force with Kylo that is attracted towards the light and Rey towards the darkness, and with all this we ask ourselves ¿is it the best movie of the saga?
Of course not only is there a "Luke I am your father" who changed the history of cinema but this film is quite close to perfection its weakest point is that it does not meet the expectations of the fans but let's be honest nothing will ever satisfy the Star Wars fans we always want more and it's okay that there were excesses of deaths in this movie in the end the resistance vs the first IMAGE order were like 10 against 10 because all the rest were dead even the resistance fits all in the millennial hawk and with the subject of the deaths there were characters that gave for much more but their sudden deaths come as a surprise so you feel that you are in a film where anyone can die in the game of thrones style and those plot turns are one of the strengths of Rian Johnson the director, in terms of performances the level is high Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey (Daisy Ridley)
With so many deaths who knows they will pose in episode IX should give more prominence to Kylo and Rey, and what will happen to the Jedi deserve an explanation of why episode VII was based on the search for the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker and when we found in episode VIII he does not want to know anything about the world. Why? It is an answer that should be expanded in episode IX and not force a good movie with plot twists that although surprising and like are not well founded, we fans hope our questions are answered and we look forward to episode IX and if you have not seen The Last Jedi runs to see her because this is the movie of the year
