Hello Movie Lovers!
It's another beautiful week on #cinetv. This week's theme on #CineTvContest is to share our favorite movie with bad weather.
I love watching apocalyptic movies because there is this adrenaline rush I do get when watching how people come together to save the world from destruction not that I want the world to come to an end 😀😀😀 . The movie I will be sharing is titled;
GEOSTORM (2017)
Geostorm centers on a race to save the planet from the worst weather event in human history. There was a system of climate-controlling satellites called "Dutch Boy" which was created to prevent catastrophic weather from hitting the planet instead it was hacked to hit places in the world and kill millions of people.
The movie starred Gerard Butler as Jake Lawson, who is a satellite designer and the Mastermind behind "Dutch Boy". He was fired by his brother Max (played by Jim Sturgess) because he brought "Dutch Boy" online without authorization.
Jake was called back three years later after Dutch Boy begins to malfunction, causing weather-related disasters all around the world. I love his performance in the movie because when he realized the fate of the world depends on him, he gave his all to stop the world from going into a "Geostorm".
What I liked about the movie was the twist, as in it was clear that the President "Andrew Palma" ( played by Andy García) was with the kill codes needed to shut off "Dutch Boy" to reboot the system and eliminate the virus, but what I never saw coming was that the saboteur was the Secretary of State "Leonard Dekkom (Played by Ed Harris).
One scene that always pops into my head whenever I remember the movie is when Max and his girlfriend Sarah Wilson who is a Secret Service Agent (played by Abbie Cornish) kidnaps the President to protect him from Dekkom's agents and secure the kill codes. Sarah's driving skills in evading Dekkom's mercenaries made the President tells Max to "Marry Her".
What I think they should have done better in the movie is on some of the weather-related destructive scenes, some of the scenes were reduced to brief bits which do not help the movie or make the scenes memorable.
All in all, Geostorm (2017) is entertaining and worth watching. I think the message the movie is trying to pass across is that climate change is very bad and it is only by uniting the nations of the world and building complex systems space of stations, satellites, etc that works, then there will be hope for humanity.
