Julian Dennison, he of Hunt for the Wilderpeople is in Deadpool 2. This is something I was unaware of going into this movie. This makes the movie worth seeing on its own as he gives a powerful performance as a scared, angry young mutant named Russell at the centre of this movie. Deadpool is back, again played by Ryan Reynolds and he is trying very hard to protect Russell from the time traveler, Cable, played by Josh Brolin. This includes assembling a crew of mutants he calls the X-Force to fight him. I liked the first Deadpool when it came out but not on repeat viewing, so I am curious to see if this one holds up because I quite enjoyed it. There are plot holes of course but overall it was entertaining and funny. I don’t believe the articles that claim it is a subversion of superhero movies as I didn’t see much in the way of subverting of superhero tropes in the way the first one tried. Maybe I missed them. At any rate, worth seeing folks!
