Mr. Nobody, released on November 6, 2009, is a sci-fi drama film directed by Jaco Van Dormael. The casts of the film are Jared Leto, Diane Kruger, Juno Temple, Sarah Polley, Rhys Ifans, Natasha Little and many more. The film won People’s Choice award for Best European Film in 2010.
Summary of the plot
In 2092, when the humanity achieved immortality in the expense of reproduction, the only living mortal Mr. Nobody reflects upon his past lives and choices that could’ve been made.
Review
The film is heavily based on the concept of time, parallel universe and butterfly effect. Different realities exist because of the different choices but the way the co-exist with each other is the most fascinating thing. The film talks about multiverse, entropy, the expansion of time but the most interesting concept was the butterfly effect. Choices has been made by us even before we grasp the concept of right and wrong. But what choice is the best one, do we really have any choice in life or all of this is just a big illusion, an illusion of control. What will happen if we know the outcome of our each and every choice, will life become unbearable, or easy?
The film tried to portrayed these concepts through the one thing most people desire, love. For different choices, along the road, we encounter different love, life and family but the question is, do we all make the same choices if we knew what life that will lead us to.
Favorite quote
"Each of these lives is the right one. Every path is the right path. Everything could’ve been anything else and it would’ve just as much meaning."
This is a beautiful way of saying, everything we do in our lives, every path that we take, all of this happens for a reason, even if during those moments, we are unable to understand it.
Conclusion
The film shows each and every choice outcome simultaneously and the concept of one person, different lives had a unique portrayed in the film. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up, but if you grasp the concept, you will be able to see the beauty it holds.
