This blog is a personal journal of all the movies, Tv-Shows, & Games I consume during a year which enhances my overall experience. The ratings that I give are fully based on my personal preference and enjoyment at the time of watching and I'm writing spoiler-free reviews. I first got to know about this movie by seeing a poster in the Hua Hin Blueport Cinema of movies to be released. I didn't know at the time it was a dinosaur movie but the title and the poster of a typical american street intrigued me. When I later got to see the trailer which sold the movie really well with nice visuals of a neighborhood being ripped out and sitting in the middle of a prehistoric jungle. Add the fact that this is a movie directed by David Robert Mitchell who previously made It Follows which is one of the Horror movies I enjoyed the most and Produced by JJ Abrahams who I loved from Lost and some other things made me super hyped. I had very high expectations and wantetd to go see this in the Cinema. However, rather dissapointing scores well below 7.0/10 and the fact that going to the movies here in Belgium costs a whopping 17โ‚ฌ, I ended up skipping and I waited until it was available to watch on my tv. Eventually, the reviews were quite right and the movie was also for me underwhelming also probably because my expectations were quite high.

The End Of Oak Street (6.7/10)

It's always nice to see original movies istead of the next sequal while at the same by now it feels like almost everything has been done. The setup of this one iq quite interesting as an entire neighborhood (Oak Street) as somehow overnight transported into jungle which puts dinosaurs into the street and a clock for all the food to run out.

The movie takes part I think in the 70s and follows a family who lives in the Oak Street neighborhood. There are 2 parents who have some issues in their marriage and 2 kids a brother and a sister along with a dog who annoyingly feels like he's fully CGI

That CGI, also the ones from the Dinosaurs is one of the weaker things about the movie and it's quite mind blowing that nobody really managed to beat the 1993 movie Jurassic Park in how real the Dinosaurs feel.

The End Of Oak Street at the end for me kind of felt like that previous Dinosaur movie called 65 with Adam Driver which had a really good trailer getting me hyped why the movie itself was just super bad. For the End of Oak Street it was not as bad but it still did not meet my expectations even close.

Conclusion While I did not hate The End Of Oak Street and at times was entertained by it quite a bit, the expectations even after seeing the weak review scores were a bit too high. The story itself was quite clichรฉ and did not fully live up to the interesting premise while the CGI at times was a bit annoying and did not live up to a movie from 30+ years ago. If anything, I'm glad that I didn't spend 17โ‚ฌ on a cinema ticket for this one but I'm also glad that I watched it. A reasonable 6.7/10 and overall a quite forgettable movie where the best part was the initial anticipation and the trailer.

From the moment I saw the trailer I knew wouldnt watch at the movies, my wife ask me if that was a new Jurassic Park, I havent watch it yet but I bet is the kind of movie that probably does way better at a streaming service than the movies

Haha that's great you didn't spend money at the theater to see this movie, although I notice almost no one here goes to the movies, whether they're good or bad ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Dinosaur movies got the best part of me since I watched Jurassic world. From your review, this one is worth giving a try too
