Isekai is a genre of anime that has been around for quite a while, before it was mostly ignored, looked weirdly at and even ridiculed, but now it's as big as the two main genre's Shounen and Seinen. There are numerous show's that helped cement its claim as one of the main three genres of anime but without a doubt the anime that truly started the Isekai movement campaign is none other than Sword Art Online.
Sword Art Online ⚔️
*** ### Plot > Its the year 2022 and gaming along with technology is about to take a huge leap forward with the arrival of the full dive gear, humanity's vehicle into the virtual world. The full dive gear is a technology that was created for the fantasy game Sword Art Online, notable thousands across the world and in stores, shops and lines just to get a copy of the game and a look into the virtual world. It was a dream come through for gamers, being able to portray their characters and actually move to slay monsters, but when the news of the fact that the game has become real and those who die in the game world die in the real world as well gets out, the dream quickly becomes a nightmare. Kirigaya Kazuto, a player who's stuck in the game as Kizito, plans to beat this game, break the nightmare and bring everyone home. *** SAO was an iconic stepping stone for the isekai genre. The shows before it that were classified as Isekai made the genre acutely aimed, small minded and a step to being forgotten. SAO released in 2012 changed that, making waves along the anime streams and opening viewers eyes to the possibility of a new world. SAO is indeed a lovely anime, and its fame couldn't have been accomplished without a few great plans and points... *** #### - Virtual Reality Gaming *** SAO explored the concepts of virtual reality gaming, which was just coming out newly in the year 2012. The timing was impeccable, as the theme made it compelling and approachable to both gamers and anime watchers, plus it was a very unique plot back then... The idea of being stuck in a game, where the death of the characters is the death of a human in real life, then added another layer to the show. It was a horrific well timed twist that truly worked well. *** #### - Character Development *** The character development of Kirito along the arcs and seasons is nothing to sneeze at. His trials, outbursts, exclamations and revivals made him unique and his conversations with other characters helped drive the story. *** #### - Lovely Animation *** This show's animation was fire back then, and even now, it is still average to good. The animation was beautiful and it helped glue fans (me included) to their screens watching Kirito fight and beat numerous kind of monsters. The animation worked well with the gaming theme, the bright colors and the fluidness of the fights was the most impressive. *** #### - Psychological Insights *** Now for those who may have read some of my other reviews, they would know just how much I love shows that have some psychological traits in it. SAO, doesn't have the thrilling psychology mind games as Classroom of the Elite, but its own mind games and their effects were still as interesting. SAO goes ahead to tackle the gory bit of the psychology. It elaborates on the psychological effects of being trapped in a virtual world. It shows the trauma, lack of Morality, blurring of lines between the real and the virtual. This bad bits makes the show more colorful and gives the story more depth, plus it made me enjoy it more 😂
It was a totally different feel from Aincrad and SAO amd the team did well in helping to highlight some aspects that helped in the creation of that new world.

As one can see, SAO, has quite a lot of things to use set itself up as the pillar of Isekai, the only disadvantage it may have is the fact that it's too popular and as such, other Isekai shows tend to have their character's incredibly similar to the characters of this snow. I guess that's not entirely a disadvantage on SAO's part but still it is really off-putting.
I'd rate SAO a nine out of ten and soul totally recommend it to any otaku who hasn't watched it. I myself is rewatching it and still find myself being amazed 😍✨😂
What about you?
Have you watched or heard about the anime?
If yes, what did you think about it?

ESPANOL
Sword Art Online ⚔️
